A date with Mr Grey

February 09 2015

I am having a date this Thursday night with Mr Christian Grey... I found the fifty shades of grey books a tad boring, badly written & found it hard to comprehend how many women out there haven't experienced bondage, blind folding, dominate sex, rough sex etc etc.... Did others out there find it alittle boring?? I hope the movie is better!!

it would have to be porn to be prortrayed like the books graphically, it will be toned down for the movie. We had great business at the adult shop due to the books so I am not about to bag them but I am not expecting as much business from the movies. My guess is going to be more sales in restraints and blindfolds than anything. A small rise in sales of duo balls and small butt plugs. There are actually a lot of women our age who have never had a vibrator so I am betting there are heaps that haven't been too far into the bondage scene. I will be going to the movies to see it for work purposes to see what we might expect. Might be a lonely valentines date for me.

From the trailers and all the publicity material I've seen and read about the movie, it's going to be shit just like the books. The two stars have all but admitted that they don't like each other at all, they both seem very uncomfortable with the sex aspect, and it all really shows. I wasn't impressed with Jamie Dornan when he talked about visiting a BDSM dungeon as part of his preparation, and how he felt dirty afterwards and had to thoroughly wash himself before he would touch his wife and new baby. Why take a role like that then idiot. Not that the books are a good representation of BDSM anyway but FFS. And the female star always looks like she's constipated or something. Oh and the director and author of the books also clashed a lot, part of the problem of giving the author such a high degree of creative control over the movie (normally authors get hardly any input into how a movie adaptation is made because film is so much different to written media, but in this case she wouldn't sell the rights unless she got that level of control and since the movie studios would have been imagining 50 metre sparkly dollar signs they gave in to her).

I am one of the many women out there who haven't experienced bondage, blind folding, dominate sex, rough sex etc etc.... But I can now proudly say that I have read "Shades of Grey" at last. My husband told me that I must have been the only person in Perth, not to have heard about the book. It took another RHP Member to mention it. I actually enjoyed it but then, I am a romantic.I would be willing to try "BDSM - soft" with the "right" RHP man. I hope that it does not include "spanking".I'm certainly not into pain !!! Being "blindfolded" has been one of my fantasies. I like the excitement of not knowing what is to come. Amy

I am probably now that one person who hasnt read Shades of Grey, nor will I, I havent had any good feedback from my friends who have. And when the stars of the film confess to having no chemistry and not actually being into anything portrayed in the film, I wont be watching the movie either. Id rather spend my time with some sexy guy trying out some of our own fantasies......

Quoting 'Serenity2000' I actually enjoyed it but then, I am a romantic.but I just don't understand how anyone can see 50 Shades as romantic. Christian Grey is a stalker, is abusive verbally, physically and emotionally, and attempts to control just about every aspect of the female character's life including things like who she can talk to and when she can visit her mother...and we're supposed to think that's not only ok but is something to long for?? Is that really what so many women want their relationships to be like?? It just does my head in. Glorifying domestic violence and so many women lapping it up

Considering it started as Twilight fan fiction, the bar wasn't set that high! Yes I have read it and I agree, she is not the greatest author but I'm still going to go see the movie on Thursday night. i don't have high expectations as I don't want to be disappointed, but I'm curious to see how bad it is!

What a nerd. When I first herd of 50 shades of grey and how many people where reading it i was very interested and a little astonished how many people were reading it, I mean 50 shades of grey is a rather obscure reference to a subject I love, but made a good popular title. So i rushed out to get a copy and to my total disappointment the book was not at all what the title hinted. I really though it was a book about intelligent machines and something called fuzzy logic, 50 shades of grey is a reference to a logical state. Not some boring dude's sexual habits, he is not even bisexual ffs. Yawn.... So this disappointed nerd rolls his blind eyes at the waste of a great title for something as bland as a little light BDSM. 50 shades of pure dull.

To explore BDSM further. A couple of weeks ago we did go to a BDSM club with awesome friends and had a wonderful time. Experienced Shibari for the first time ( most erotic experience with my clothes on), got a flogging, I loved every element of it. So for me the books opened up my mind. I too will see the movie, I'd like to see how they bought the book to life in the movie, I'm going with my friend from work. Mary xx ,

That makes little sense... 😕 I'm just relaying what he said, I obviously can't know why exactly he had such a negative reaction to the dungeon. Although... when you look at mainstream television and movies there are a crapload of serial killer storylines, compared to very little BDSM or sexual kink. He probably sees nothing unusual about playing the type of character many people have played before - in fact many actors seem to view those types of roles as something to strive for to show off their acting chops - but I would guess that he has had very little if any previous exposure to BDSM either in real life or in fantasy television land. And on the whole he seems fairly conservative, so it was all probably quite a shock for him.

No movie or book will ever live up to what can be experienced in real life. The psychological thrill is as much as the physical. So long as it's done by - A. Someone who knows what they're doing (there's more to it than simply tying somone down) B. Someone you can trust (you are essentially putting yourself in their hands) I'd be more than happy to show you. 😈 - Posted from rhpmobile

I certainly won't be going to see the movie, I tried to read the books but couldn't bring myself to finish them, again for the way it was so poorly written, there were certain words which she used over and over again which were like fingernails down a blackboard to me. But each to their own, if people get enjoyment out of reading these books and seeing the movie then that's great, if it opens up people's minds to something a little more adventurous in their life's then that's fantastic also. Cheekyarses, sorry I can't reply with quote on my phone but I am curious, do you allow your daughter to watch movies which promotes violence? Killing and maiming? Blood and gore? I don't know if you do but why would sometching like sex which is only natural and we all do it, be worse then seeing someone kill someone else in a horrible way. I know for me I would much prefer my children to grow up being open and accepting of sex then to be desensitised to violent behavior. I do get your point though about them possibly thinking that its ok for guys to be totally controlling. I have never understood why sex has always been portrayed as something to be hidden and shameful about but killing another person in movies is acceptable behavior.

And not only do many other women agree with me, many DV organisations and victim advocates do as well. Google "boycott 50 Shades movie campaign" if you want see what I'm talking about. There is a big difference between fantasy and role-playing and the relationship presented in this series. Meander - I don't see a comment by sweetgem and I'm the only person who mentioned DV so I'm not sure if you're referring to my comment. If so I'm not at all equating BDSM with DV, I'm equating the stalking and controlling and abusive behaviour of the male character with DV (because when it comes down to it that's what it is, fantasy or not).

if the comments about feeling a bit dirty and all that were genuine, or hyperbole to play to a generally conservative USA audience? so he can play the role, but also has his ass covered for being cast into other roles. It doesn't sound promising if the two main actors don't like each other or have any chemistry. Sounds like it's a "watch it online" not "rush to the theatre". (I haven't read the book so can't agree or disagree on whether the anti-DV protests have any basis in fact)

So tonight I went and saw this movie.... What can I say? Interesting. Lots and lots of laughter in the cinema as some of it was just so comical, the script was pretty bad... Im sure that Bunnings will have alot of rope, zip ties and duct tape purchases over the next few weeks. There were mixed reviews from people after the movie... My review - fifty shades of fucked up lol... It portraits jealously, it is worth a good laugh in some parts of the movie and not to take it too seriously... Lots of emails between each other and txt messages... Plus - that contract... LMFAO!! The actor who played Christian - he had great back muscles and a cute bum. The bush is back - no more brazilians or landing strips lol - go the bush... The good thing about it, it does not promote cheating on your partner - rather stay with the one person.. My favourite part of the movie was that she drove a white old fashioned VW and the best quote was " Are you going to make love to me now".... "I dont make love - I fuck, I fuck hard". Dont watch it at the movies, wait for it to come out on DVD, Im sure it will be out for Mothers Day. Anastasia Christian Mrs Cheeky x

I went to see this movie as well and I must admit, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Yes there were quite a few roll-your-eyes moments, and the cinema was packed with grown women giggling like school girls, which was frustrating, but overall it wasn't that bad. I actually thought Dakota Johnson was quite good, but Jamie Dornan didn't really do it for me. (I couldn't take my eyes off his right pupil which just looked huge and so much bigger than his left one! Yes I am odd; nothing new there!). I think the RHP crowd could be quite harsh on this film, but it is meant to appeal to the masses and I feel it would be a good introduction to a lot of women (and men) out there (hence the nervous giggling from the almost completely female audience).

I thought it was just as I was expecting. I went to see it for work to see what toys I needed to be on top of following the release of the movie as just as I said in my first post, it was mainly restraints and whips. Spoiler alert: The biggest surprise was the bush and I say well done for not conforming there. Like JG said, I thought Anastasia was cast well but not Christian. My sister also noticed the eye thing! I did enjoy it for the most part but I am not a movie critic, I actually watch a movie for the entertainment value, not to critique the shit out of it. People take things way too seriously sometimes.

LMAO!! Anastasia constantly biting her lip in the books drove me insane... I was sure she would have chewed them off by the end of the first book :) Made it through the first book and twenty pages into the second before giving up. Just couldn't handle the very poor writing any more. Definitely won't be seeing the movie. On_Safari & KIS... thanks for the tip on Tiffany Reisz, going to be hunting for her books :) Meeka, Koolgrey... I'm going to go there with GoT. I was traumatised by the books because they just dragged on an on. The writing was good, the character development was good and the story line was good. But when I was a quarter of the way through book four and happened to read the blurb on the back of book five, and realised a certain character STILL wasn't dead, I gave up. Maybe traumatised is a little bit of an over exaggeration, but the books put me off watching the TV series, that's how strongly I felt. Which is a pity, because by all accounts it's really good :/ Much love, Elle xx

Not read the book so I was flying blind, the film itself was pretty well made, good locations and intimate scenes better than your average frilly porno. The story however is very sad, maybe I am getting old but seriously female characters have got to stop being portrait-ed in such a demeaning and weak willed way. There is nothing wrong with the concept of master and servant but it is rarely because one side is too dumb to understand. 'A 21 year old virgin' suggests a very different picture to the glamorous size wonderful of Dakota. Falling into his office ! really. She has the balls to front up to her friends appointment but obviously not to be able to open a door. What makes him so appealing ? his money, his power, his appalling lecherous manner towards a vulnerable young virgin... I would think he has a responsibility to decline her advances, not force himself on her with his own. The bright uni graduate still a virgin walks into a toy room likely to make most peoples eyes pop out, what did she think they were ornaments ? why was she upset/surprised when he used a belt a little harder at the end, she cant be stupid she has graduated. And the contract.... they did no more than a normal slightly advanced sexual relationship, they certainly didn't stretch too many boundaries to coin a phrase. Why on earth would you lower the respect level to a piece of paper. Pubic hair was on display perhaps to get the 15+ rating, I can't imagine a pretty girl like that would allow herself to be so unkempt if she has such a nice collection of underwear and dresses - the zip back dress was pretty hot. The moral of the story I suppose is 'giving and receiving is a 2 way street', you can't just take what you want. She got next to nothing, he got her virginity ;)

I still think it would be hilarious if someone took a very loud vibrator in there and turned it on at the first really sexy scene and then started moaning. That would be so funny!

A bunch of crusty old Jewish guys sitting around a magnificent marble table, asking each other " how can we make domestic violence saleable?" well there's your answer folks. Fifty shades of fucked up. Its fit to be called toilet paper, not fit to be called literature. It sells sex toys. It convinces women that sociopathic men are normal, which is great for someone like me because it normalizes my worst behaviours in an 'educational' and 'illuminating' light apparently. Though I have to ask, how can something be illuminating if it totally misses the point and skews the reality? Isn't that closer to brainwashing? I didn't give a fuck about the book and I care even less about the movie. I honestly get more turned on watching a train crash or a violent nature doco where a lion is ripping a zebra limb from limb. But if I can make some cash out of it or get laid because of, I'm not going to knock it. Domestic violence just got sexy! Happy Valentine's Day Sheeple!

the best book is the Lover Eternal. Rhage is my favourite. Hottest Vampire. For some reason, I picture Chris Hemsworth as Rhage... Damn big sexy blond guy.... second book I think. Zhadist is a tortured soul... All good. except not keen on the female vampire.... last book.... just doesnt have the same rawness and fierceness to the characters... It seems JRward just ran out of ideas here.... My opinion only. quite addictive. No pussy Edward the vampire here.. all muscle bound karate-chomping dudes with attitude. Lol. trully a wonderful escapism caper. Enjoy.
