A song for all seasons

January 07 2016

What song is your all time favourite? The song that moves you, motivates you, carries you good and bad times alike and takes you to that special place? For me it is 'Runaway' by the Corrs. Every time I hear it, I go from the mundNe in my life to a place I would rather be. I look forward to reading about your song.

Richard Clapton Reminds me of my love of the ocean, freedom, warm weather and leaving ones cares behind. What could be better than riding your horse along the tropical beach......apart from riding your playmate behind the dunes of course

Always lift my spirits 😈 But absolute favourite would be Faith by George Michael. Probably not deep or intellectual but they are great songs and make me feel good 😘

As I listen to the tune, melody and rythm before the lyric when it comes to music/song. But there is one particular song that I had to do a bit of a searching to find it and it's the "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins. I just love the tune and melody of that song as it gives a bit of an energy and strength in the song, even though it's a slow rythm song. I can just tune out from everything to listen to that song every time I hear it 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

I love the Corrs! That song in particular is a favourite of mine. I find it hard to narrow down my absolute favourite though - it depends on my mood. The one that has carried me through the most is Breathe by Alexi Murdoche - it always helps me centre myself. - Posted from rhpmobile

A single song mmm... hard to pick... but one that is at least regularly played on the radio and I love to hear each time: The Hooters - All You Zombies In this case, for the melody and musical atmosphere more so than the specific lyrics. Ironically they are not a religious band.

Dire Straits 'So Far Away', with so many things out of my reach it is almost my theme song. I love the guitar work, melody etc. The song puts me in a relaxed state - I have to be careful when I am driving......

I finally found my favourite mix on YouTube of ---- "Rockin' For Myself" by Motiv8 (Ultimate Vocal Mix). Straight back on the podium of Sydney nightclub DCM in '98. Eyeballs doing back flips😝, trannies making out on the dance floor, shirtless roid heads snorting amyl nitrate, 'liquid' dripping off the ceiling😏- Oh the joyful memories when this song gets radio play & I'm trying to drive😏😏😏

Have many favorites, which changes. But if I was told I was going to lose my hearing and never hear music again, the last song I would want to hear is Van Morrison, These are the days. Just the first few bars of that song is like a soft rain on a dry soul. Beautiful and always uplifting when I hear it.

One mega dose of dreaminess; toss in a dash of light-heartedness and a bit of twirlin' skirt as you spin around; and thoroughly romantic and hopeful! I've got many favourites, but this one I've loved for yonkers! :D

So many but I will go with "Boys of Summer" - Don Henley Long hot evenings, sand in every orifice, the smell of coconut frangipani suntan oil, island coolers, and no fear of skin cancers. The summer before Uni started

Too many favorites, many different memories attached to each and consequently many different emotions as well. But the one which still resonates with me after all these years is Des'ree, I Ain't Movin. It reminds me to be strong, be true to myself, to love myself and forgive my flaws. I saw Des'ree in concert many years ago, she had injured her back and was stranded in front of the mic all night. Nothing took away from the music; no fancy light shows, dancers or theatrics. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I still remember the power of her voice and the lyrics of this and many other of her songs.

..."Since your gone", "Dangerous type", "All mixed up", "Drive"..... Their catchy harmonies remind me of a simpler time when I was a boy. Purely nostalgia. I once had all their albums on cassette....and now they trigger memories of emotions as well as sights, sounds and smells.Maybe not favourite tunes now, but certainly emotive.

Quoting 'ontology' "I Gotta Get Drunk" by The Little Willies (Self Titled) ; ) This album is self titled. (It's not a reference to, or description of myself!) There is sooooo much music that "chimes" with me. I've tinkered with playlists as a form of communication since I was a teenager. (Was quite shy as a kid). Anyone identify with Michelle Shocked? On Arkansas Traveller you might take a listen to: Prodigal DaughterSecret to a Long LifeShaking Hands (Soldier's Joy) (My days might be numbered - I ought quit while I'm ahead!)

Song would be hard to pick. So many songs have a visceral effect on me. Today, I'd probably choose The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build a Home.

Dream a little dream of me is so beautiful and quirky, but seems to transport me into a peaceful place, simpler times, the hippy in me, I don't know what it is really. Mama Cass sung 'Leaving on a jet plane' with John Denver once live on TV I think, it's on YouTube check it out, her voice was a gift 🎧🎶

Bigger on the Inside, and Judy Blume. I have visceral emotional reactions to both of these songs, for different reasons. Also her ukulele cover of Creep, which is strangely uplifting. - Posted from rhpmobile

Black. Ultimate heartbreak summed up but such a beautiful song. The longing in his voice and knowledge it'll never be him. And the end of our lives all is black and this song sums up the helplessness of the human condition so well - Posted from rhpmobile

Life in. Northern Town by Dream Avademy - so calming and soothing ACDC gets me motivated and energetic, especially Thumderstruck and Jail Breaking Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood and the Destroyers Never Say Goodbye by Bon Jovi I could go on forever with this so I'll just stop here
