Slow news day.... The woman was proven to be a political stooge.... But I'm guessing that's not going to change the minds of those who want to find fault. I guess winking is worse than shonky policy that leads to peoples deaths. The ALP in their desperation to get people to forget the huge steaming pile of crap they dumped on the country... have activated the social media sleeper cells to do their dirty work. So much for not talking politics lol

So much for not talking politics lol I swear it was not me, even my husband ask that, he said was that you lolas for the other stuff your right re deaths, there were over one thousand people died while trying to get here on a boat. . I may be wrong but we can thank the greens for shifting the boarder to xmas island, before that you had to hit the mainland. and the smugglers were getting richer by the day, at thirty grand a ticket, but I could be wrong. before kevin there was one boat in 18 months, then the policy changed it was one boat in 18 hours, or so I believe, but I could be wrong. That policy change was a killer, more like mass murder to me. how soon we forget, when it starts to bite into our hip pocket. I do agree with the students, that is utter shit that a person cant get a free education in this country. besides that can you just imagine Tony on the end of a phone sex line....? ohhh the horror lol Paradise Pair, tell us how you really feel, love it what happens to people when they get into politics? but lets not forget all the politicians we do not see on TV that are doing the best they can for the people that voted them in. Its a shit job and I for one would never ever like to take up that job. who would?

DG, You talk about govt policy leading to deaths !!! (assume you are talking about the home insulation scheme). I guarantee the massive slash to Health and the new Medicare co-payment in the budget will have a tenfold effect on the lifespan and health of Australians than 3 insulation deaths with a range of services being cut or significantly wound back. Now that is a pile of turd dumped on the people !! "No cuts to health" Abbot said ....... or DG is that ALP spin doctors putting words in his mouth !!! Rant over ... Now back to the question from Peachy ..... which had no political aspect to her question and was just asking about Abbots attitude to women. Politics aside I think the guy is a slime bag, lying POS who treats women like its the 1950's !!!

Policy leading to deaths... Insulation AND border protection... don't discount the hundreds of drownings. That's just one point. But politics debates never end well as sides are justified by selective arguments to benefit the bias, instead of objective ones. Paradise... That was just petulant, but I expect you feel better. Then again, maybe you don't.

I hate this stuff. How many sexist jokes have been made about Tony Abbotts ' red Budgie smugglers. The howls from the left would be deafening. This is all about politics and grubby politics at that. I don't know Tony Abbott personally but definitely don't rely on social media for clues on his attitude to women. Regardless surely this stuff belongs in one of the 1000s of political blogs out there. :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I could have put more effort in there I suppose. 'Creepy' 'Sleazy' 'Sickening', that sort of thing. . This story caught my attention becasue I listened to an interview with the PM where he was asked about the wink yesterday. I went out of my way to look up a clip of him 'winking' during the interview. Saying he was winking minimises the disgustingness of the whole thing. . Araps is right, while it is about a politician and that's bound to come into it, it is about his behaviour as a man while in the role of Prime Minister I am questioning. . Sadly I agree with you MrsParadise. Haha and Tuscan, yes you crossed my mind too, but I heard the voice on the radio and knew it wasn't you. :-D . Too funny Ralf! Sorry to bother you DG, but have you actually seen a clip of the interview? I saw another clip on fb after I posted this topic that showed the whole interview.

The media is there to sensationalise. The caller came on, Abbot was signalled by staff that they'll redirect the call, Abbot winked at them, puckered his lips and did a slight shake of head in the response of 'no I'll take this one'......... Even my 13 yr old picked this one up when he went online to look at it............ No, this does not mean I'm a Liberal (or other) supporter, just means I get pissed of at the media being able to lead people that way.

"I listened to the interview with the PM on the radio Bigmamma", I mean the interview where he was asked about 'the wink'. :-) .I am curious to hear other opinions though... and have rewatched the interview with your post in mind. I still see more than a wink saying, it's ok, I'll take it. He definitely reacted to realising he was on camera... and at that point, seemed to be taking the woman more seriously.

for starters I heard that woman's voice, you need a special voice to do this kind of work and you have to pass a test. Its not that simple as people think, you have to have the ability to communicate and market yourself. She might have been on a grab a granny line but not the normal sex lines. plus the pay is not that crash hot, works out around 50 to 70 cents a minute and your a contractor so you still have to pay your tax if you made to much anyway. phone sex is almost like my counselling work except I get to say fuck and cunt more oftenin stead of the clients saying that to me LadyT wearing her fluffy slippers and a brunch coat as she talks on the phone

I don't really care what his reason was for winking during that interview, or who that woman is or what she does. Tony Abbott has enough prior form to leave no doubt that he is as sexist as they come, and that his views of women are generally restricted to them being either sexual objects or baby houses (and in the latter case he would much prefer that the role of baby house be restricted to 'women of calibre' hence his ridiculous PPL scheme). I will add that I believe he is quite possibly a psychopath; if you look at the characteristic traits of psychopaths, he exhibits just about all of them. 99 percent of politicians are to some degree self-serving narcissists, but he is in a special class all his own, and I strongly believe he is a danger to this country. DG - I'm beginning to understand why you found it so hard to believe that there are people who can't afford $7 for a GP visit.

Quoting 'Mischeviouslad' The ALP in their desperation to get people to forget the huge steaming pile of crap they dumped on the country... Funny how that steaming pile of crap allowed Australia to navigate successfully through the GFC and come out of it with an economy that was the envy of many other countries (in 2011 'Euromoney' magazine named Swan the world's best finance minister as a result; can't see Smokin' Joe earning that title, but at least he has his cuban cigars to make up for that). And let's try and remember that although Australia certainly does not have a 'budget emergency' - much as the Libs would love us to believe their spin - the structural issues there are in our economy started well before Labor was last in. Does Johnny Howard's middle class welfare spending spree ring any bells?

.... People become very selective of fact when supporting their political party. And to the person who said I was a liberal supporter. Wrong. I'm a swinging voter. We ALL SHOULD BE. To consider one side has all the answers all the time is just ignorant. But I DID vote liberal at the last election. It was a VERY easy decision and it amazes me how in an allegedly intelligent society, there were so many people still prepared to vote for disorganisation, wreckless policy, chronic infighting and total lack of financial control of OUR money... for a further 3 years..... simply because they didn't like the other bloke but couldn't offer an intelligent reason why - Posted from rhpmobile

This to me is just another wY the government (both sides) skew reality there were a LOT of shonky operators (including guys driving by, stealing another guys bats off the truck and legging it), and fly-by-night operators setting up just for the scheme . But the weird thing is, while there were more injuries/deaths in that period than normal, when compared against the VASTLY higher amount of insulation work being done - it was actually safer than before the scheme. (The way they shut the scheme down overnight was INCREDIBLY poor, it caused hardship for quite a few small businesses)

But I remember now... Ironically, current news this week is that the Abbott Government redirected $4m from royal commision into child sexual abuse inquiry into the home insulation scheme inquiry. . It takes all of us to make the world go round Mado. Let's see how it all goes when the least regarded levels of society aren't holding up our end, of not being the weakest link in the chain. . The way things have been on our side of the country, cold really doesn't apply so much anymore. We've only just got our heater out, today. @ lurk... Do we have a future fund anymore ? I mean I know we had one... And it wasn't going too bad... And it was conceptualised to be used in times of need... But I believe far too much was pissed against the wall, sadly leaving little to no future benefit... And it is an amazing thing that "all the lefties" who were apparently reveling in the extremely good work of the previous government... Good governance, responsible fiscal management, clear policy agenda, stable leadership and transparent decision making... Etc... Well, they must have been happy, because my Facebook page wasn't being flooded with whinging whining "outraged" lefties... It reminds me of the 80's (mainly English) comedians... All they did was whinge, whine and hang shit on "Tory's"... All seemed to go pretty quiet when the labor got into power... They must be fantastic goveners... Hp xo💋 Because you're worth it...

I'm neither labor nor Liberal. I vote as my conscience dictates at the time of the election and I always expect nothing but lies, broken promises and questions that are simple but only get answered with repetitious rhetoric, rather than an actual ANSWER. That's what politics is to me. And IMO, all but a very small few politicians are in it to feather their nests. The amount who have been caught out being dishonest, fraudulent or just plain Corrupt is proof enough of the general attitude. Get what you can and then collect the pension and benefits after just 9 years in service. Have you EVER tried to get an apt to talk to your local member (State or Federal)? I'm not an Abbott fan at all. I don't think he's a good Prime Minister at al. I don't know him personally, but I will say that if a woman rings in and says she has been FORCED to take work on a phone sex line to make ends meet (when there have been NO economic changes that the current government have been responsible for, instituted as yet...), I would be 'winking' and laughing too. If she's doing it bad, it can't YET be because of any Liberal Budget policy as it hasn't been instituted as yet. Plus, what's the insult??? Winking because a phone sex worker (debatable) calls in and whines about doing it financially hard??? Give me a break...!!!

I have absolutely nothing against phone sex line workers or any other sex worker. They perform a service for which people agree to pay. The only bad thing about it, is the fact that because of the 'nature' of the work, there can be 'organised' criminal involvement etc. This is where the victimization can come into things such as types of Sex Workers. That's far more of a problem and abhorrent thought than a simple 'wink' at the fact that "We've got a live one, on the line"...

I didn't and the new package only tends to hurt my future as a ' non breeder' and high income earner, but do you see me complaining? No I should!!!! I'm not sure where you're coming from with that last one Coriander. :-) I'm against the idea of sending in bigots in the hope of pushing a set agenda in areas that are already troubled. I think we agree that education is good, but who delivers it matters. . Gordy, that's the way it seemed to me... And... LOL! @ Winker :-D . That probably shouldn't be funny Smiling... but it is hehehe... and it'd cost ya 0:-P . I thank you for your contribution Hottimes... it's looking a bit like you're old news at the moment. All the best. :-) . A country is made up of individuals Antzy. ;-) . I took the point as being that the woman was already struggling Open, and the budget wasn't going to be making it any easier for her. I also took it as trying to put across shock factor, that people should have to sink so low, to survive in our economy. I don't agree with that attitude. The insult?... His attitude. The one where he wasn't really listening because he had other shit going on in his head... whether his thoughts were as simple as "we've got a live one here", it had nothing to do with the issue at hand of a woman's concern that she was going to be struggling even more now. . So, during that call Abbott reassured the woman that she would actually be better off taking into account the removal of the carbon tax. It has been revealed since that interview that hidden away deep in the budget, pensioners, and that includes disabled pensioners will actually be $80 pw worse off. Most of their rebates (water/land rates, travel, car +) from their concession will no longer be available. This includes a raise in the price of the prescription medicine. Adding insult to injury with the introduction of the copayment. It will actually cost a pensioner an extra $7per visit + $5 per script until they hit the top limit. It works out that the bottom 20% of income earners are paying $2.7 billion and the top 20% are paying $1.7 billion. . Right now, I have a thing about walking a mile in my thongs Mado

Is a complete fallacy. What do normal Aussie citizens do when interest rates drop? They invest in property, go into debt because it's a good investment. The government did the same thing because we have a great credit rating and the only way to prevent an economy from going into recession during economic emergencies like the GFC is for governments to spend money. There is a reason why the Great Depression ended with world war 2- because governments started spending huge amounts of money on the war effort. Our debt comparatively is pretty fucking good actually. A surplus is actually really shit because it just signifies that the government is taking all of the money you pay on tax and not giving 100% of it back to you in the form of services. Second, even if the debt was a huge problem the budget didn't really do anything about it. It's more just moving money around than anything else and isn't quickening the getting back to surplus problem. Also in my opinion the budget unfairly targets the disadvantaged like the sick, students and the unemployed. If the liberal government stopped protecting big business and corporations they could get back to surplus without hurting those that need it the most. Policies like not providing under 30 year olds with welfare payments for 6 months is an example of a response to an unfair stereotype of young doll bludgers, completely ignores the fact that a young person looking for a job extremely actively even usually has to wait 20 weeks to find new employment and will only create more homelessness and encourage economic crime.

Hi All, The 'wink' aside... this has turn more into a thread about the budget and general policy. I put my twopence worth in a while ago and the extra costs of doc visits, pension cuts etc are being debated in all areas of society and still in the Parliament during question time (as of last Thursday night when I watched for my occasional 'laugh'... There's not going to be a consensus over the Budget, the individual items that effect different groups and people, like the $7 co-payment etc. These things can't be agreed upon by people because of their very nature (the issues and the people... LOL). We've all got an opinion and an interpretation. The fact is, none of it is yet written in stone and some of it will never be because of the Senate majority (or minority) and the balance held by Independents and smaller parties (the 4" ones... Hehehe. There! I've turned it into a sex related thread). I agree that the Forum is for subjects about whatever develops through active conversation, discussion and debate. But also, I feel that something as volatile and UN-resolvable as the Budget should be given a rest after 3 pages of posts. BTW... I do work (casually in a couple of different areas and earn almost enough to support myself completely. I have 'semi-retired' for the moment because of an Arthritic problem that inhibits my ability to work fulltime in any area... So I do qualify for and collect a small portion of the Disability Support Pension. I paid tax for 37 years (for 15 years, via a business that also employed 6 - 8 other people - who consequently paid taxes because of my business and risking my home etc on it etc). So, I feel completely justified in accepting this support while I require it. So, please people, don't assume that someone has heaps of money and that $7 doesn't mean much to them because they happen to agree with that particular part of the budget only!!! I will feel the cost and given I have to visit the Doc monthly and take 3 medications (renewed each month)... I DO know what it will be like to have to fork out more than most people, while I am on a part pension. Please don't assume things you don't know about. I have, however, also seen some sensible comment that I hadn't thought of and agree there is more to it than I originally stated. So, I will admit that - and also state that my opinion is not as straight forward as I first thought... Thanks

Quoting 'Antzy' Have you not thought about our deficient? We were in surplus, prior to labor's term? What's our current deficit? Please font comment on things that you cannot back up? Did you get government handouts such a the stimulus package and all the other government handouts? I didn't and the new package only tends to hurt my future as a ' non breeder' and high income earner, but do you see me complaining? No I should!!!! Cause I'm the one if the only ones that have earned a lot of money to support people breeding and benefiting from my hard earned dollars... Only to keep you and your family in benefit mode, so please stop crying poor for fuck sake... Kids are a benefit, not a social hand out!!!!! I'm sick if the righteous, try being a person who has chosen not to have kids and to be taxed your whole life to support families, homeless and all the other under achievers in life an get nothing back!!? I don't care that I'm a hard worker and unfortunately I get punished, but I'm not bitching, so stop your shit... It's annoying for people like me! Be grateful for what you get mother fucker! You could also get nothing like me?!?I try not to get on my soap box but ... Hmmm. Tone it down missy. Luckdragon has every right to voice her views on the Politics of this nation, as you have done, without fear nor favour of incurring personal attacks, regardless of whether she has or doesnt have children. It is your choice to have children and I respect that. That just gives you more time and money to indulge with whatever appeals to you personally. So you have established you are single, childless and earn lots of money. so what is with the attitude? I have more respect for you if you can say you can channel some of your energies and resources to people who are in need, giving back to the community. I have kids, earn good money as a professional and multiple business owner, and do not get a cent from the government in any form whatsoever. I pay taxes to maintain our way of life. Fantastic. I support a few community programs by either participating by myself or with my kids, and contribute everyway I can. Monetary or otherwise. This is how a society should work, we should help out each other. Society is made up of individuals and politicians are elected members of society. They are meant to protect and maintain balance and harmony. However, I will not disrespect the less fortunate sectors of our society as labelling or demean them as you have. Not classy. You have bitched about your situation. Get over it and stop calling people names. Check the budget distribution and see how much dispersion and ROI we are getting, long term, in defense spending vs. Social/medical reforms. To show off your expertise in economics is ok but to insult people by proping yourself up is not kosher. If you want to discuss the nuances and intricacies of macroeconomics in Australia and its relation to Global economic trends and the relevance of long term cutting of budget on social welfare and reforms, knock on my door and we can have a friendly civilized chat over over a strong latte and muffins. Or a mojito. Your choice of poison. How'd ya like dem apples.

Quoting 'Coriander' Quoting 'MrsPeachyFool' The Australian government just released the Federal Budget with $245 million to send chaplains from anti-gay religious groups, such as ACCESS Ministries and Your Dream Incorporated, to schools where lesbian, gay, bi and trans students are already bullied and harassed. . Really??? I'm all for Christian mental health workers, but I'm unhappy knowing that qualified secular workers will lose their jobs to non qualified Christian workers under the current government. That is not OK in any way, shape, or form. And it shouldn't be OK for anyone... Hey Peachy, the point I didn't quite make (I have had man flu - forgive me) was that the very non bigoted secular (non religious) workers who are fully qualified mental health professionals have all 'officially' been told their services are no longer required. The chaplaincy program going forward will only employ Christians, of which only a few are qualified mental health professionals. NOT OK!

It scares me Openly, that I could just go on about Abbot. and on, and on, and on, thank God for backspace. ;-) I'm not usually a political person, which is probably why I can be naive enough to post a thread about a politician. This budget really seems to hit the people who can least afford it the worst, and that includes students who are the future of our nation, pensioners who have been the past and the disabled who are the least able to defend themselves maybe.... there's so much more I don't have a grasp on or that I haven't gone into. Thanks for your comments, they're very much appreciated. ;-) . Good posts Lily & Q, good to see them. . Oh :-( That's no good Coriander. I really so feel we are taking steps backwards in our country. Religion isn't the way forward.
