You should definitely lie about your age and round it down a few more years. It's not really lying if you're doing it so those foolish women with an upper age limit don't miss out on you. In fact you could argue it's a pubic service.

A lot of Members lie about their age. Sometimes, there is a 5 year difference. I don't think it really matters if it's only a difference of a year or two. Some men can't hide their age. Sometimes I've known that they are actually "much older". Most men look the actual age they are. There's only 1 man that took me by surprise. I told him that he "looked younger" than his "RPH" listed age; only to have him tell me that he was actually 5 years older !!! I have to be honest, he looks terrific for his age !!! I think that if you really do need to lie about your age, make it a figure that's believable. Amy

It's whether the person is attracted to you within the first 5 minutes of meeting you that counts. When I am attracted to a man, it's easy to tell. I smile and my eyes "light up". Next I go to grab his hand. If the attraction is "massive", I also give him a kiss !!! Amy

Who lied about his age on here. He came clean over dinner though I see no point in lying about your age. When I asked why he did say because of the age limits woman have on their profiles. Fair enough I though and he did actually look younger than his fibbed age anyway. In my opinion do as you please - however there just, maybe crappy consequences.

I def don't have a stunning herculean body like Mike but I've been told I look younger than my age. It's a women's prerogative to be choosy they're likely on this site to mess around a bit so they naturally would like a younger guy...just because they can. makes me wanna hit the gym

Yep, I have set my age range, and will reject anyone outside that range, even if its by one day, I don't care you are too old or too young for me. I have that right, and I dont feel at all shallow for having such a stance. I am so determined for people to respect this that I would report anyone contacting me that is outside that range. So please its not to much to ask, be 18-99 or I am not interested.

Don't you go hiding now. They were just having some fun, nothing against you at all. We like to make sure people are aware of how they present in their pics (yes I know it's not what your topic is about, but better to share than not). So if they have pointed something out, it's not to have a laugh at your expense but to make sure you're aware. So put up a pic and come marching back in here and join the crazy crew. You have some great pics and seem like a nice bloke! To answer the question you posed.... it is entirely up to you what age you put down. Some shave off a couple of years to make it into a search criteria, some do it as part of their internet safety, some do it... well who knows why! Before you change it, make sure you make the decision as to whether you will reveal your correct age at some point, or whether you don't. Then stick by what you decide.

I don't lie about my age although I reckon I could. The key is to read the ladies profile and get a feel for what she is looking for, and, if you genuinely feel you have something to offer despite a few years over her limit then go for it, make your play, nothing ventured nothing gained.

always have been.. so I set an age limit.. doesn't mean I won't consider someone older than the limit I've set.. certainly have and will again if there is an attraction.. I find that if I set a limit 5 yrs below what I'm looking for it discourages the the guys 10 yrs over my limit.. if that makes any sense ;) I still try to reply to everyone who sends me messages if I can.. and no I never do searches either, don't need to.. unfortunately for most of the guys on RHP it's a woman's world. :)

Agreed. I've had women tell me they don't even open mails from members who are outside their 'limit'. As one who looks younger than my age (I think) , and certainly lives younger than my age, I would not hesitate to round down a little. I was at a music festival over nye and was with my late 20's early 30's friends and fit in fine...often I find people my own age live too old for me and so need to meet people much younger...I've also met very young people who look and live old. Age is just a number, it's how you live that's important. Round down brother Lol

I hate it when you meet someone and clearly their photos were 5 years old, their face doesn't match their age and their "athletic" body is a normal body. This isn't even a shallowness issue on my part, but if you give me a picture and set the scene, I get excited to meet that person and then when you're clearly not..... What a turn off. And we don't ever try to subtract anything from it, but we do also know the frustration of seeing women *very* close to our age have their upper limit set at 35 or 40 or 45......... Their prerogative of course, everyone has their preferences. We do, very rarely, send a message to someone who's age range doesn't match us when the profiles seem to line up in every other way, but we always excuse the intrusion and explain up front that we are outside it.

... mickey's conundrum 45 .. does seem to be the arbitrary figure.. nominated in a LOT of profiles which means for those of us over that .. even if we are much younger than our numbers suggest... .. it makes messaging difficult especially when you feel like you match everything they are looking for .. except that one thing.. age is such a slippery thing though right? i have decided... on what i think is a fair way of ascertaining someone's right to consider me old lets hit the clubs .. and dance hard.. and if you can outlast me.. .. .. then i am more than happy .. .. for you to refer to me as old :P

No point trying to conceal it. Truth will out an all that. Our age range rule of thumb is 10 years in either direction, so mid 30's to mid 50's, however this is a guideline not a strict rule. We are both 43. We will both turn 44 this year. She looks younger and he looks older. It is what it is, deception would be pointless. We are either of interest as we are or not.

Hi Mickey, I believe it all depends on the personality of both parties. I'm 38 and have set my upper age range as 55, but I have been contacted by older men. For me it's not the number but rather their intelligence, health and zest for life. Other women will have differing opinions and that's ok too. I value honesty and if I had met you and found out you had lied, personally I probably wouldn't give you a second chance. That's just me tho. So send msgs to whomever you please and if she doesn't reply, no biggie. There are plenty more open minded ladies to choose from. And finally, as a single woman, I haven't had to search much. Ppl contact me, so maybe the search issue isn't as big a deal for us as you may think? Food for thought, anyhow 😊

I know exactly how you feel. I got sick of all the punters contacting me to try their luck with a handsome devil so I put my age up a notch to see if it makes any difference. And whilst shallow peeps abound, though a decent profile is merely a shopfront, people set their goals and ambitions and we ought to respect that. I just take them at their word, and guess they know what they want.So if they say X age, and I'm X+1 or more, then I see little point in showingany interest. To be Honest if you're anywhere near their upper limit your chances are probably quite slim. Cheers N

Am 52 and don't lie about my age or put false pics up, have set my age range to 45 as most men look older than they actually are, think they become a little complacent as they get older compared to the ladies who take care of themselves to attempt to look younger lol. That people decrease their age (suggests a more playful, free spirit?), rather than increase it. Imagine meeting someone and finding out that they're impressed by how great you look "for your age", how fun you are, how amazing it is that you're able to meet for dinner after 7pm! That they're thinking, wow she *really* looks after herself! I'm single and don't have/ want children and I have a flexible work life. I'm often told that I look 5 to 8 years younger than I am - that's from both types of people too, the ones interested in business time and those who are straight ;) It may just be that I *appear* younger (behaviour, attitude, very very high eyebrows) than they're used to for that number, or it could be that I'm a dirty LIAR and am marking UP my age....! ooh now you'll never know ;) Seriously though, unless it feels awkward, I always like to ask if I look like my photos and age. I think it's good to know. Especially if your motivation is to get your *number* down as low as possible. If you don't conduct a little market research now and then how will you really know? ;)
