Anything that has a connection to music.

February 15 2018

This thread is for you to post anything that has a connection to music... songs, instrumental or classical pieces, favourite bands or solo artist, lyrics etc. There is so much diversity in our tastes when it comes to all genres of music some which we would not be aware of ( so many new gems to discover ) and how it leaves us feeling. Music does so many amazing things and you only have to look at how important it has been and still is in many cultures around the world, thank goodnes for music. I 'll share some concert experiences. I have been to a number of Rolling Stones concerts... I love The Stones I first saw them in concert courtesy of a relative at Kooyong Tennis Stadium in 1973, thank goodness for the internet to be able to find pics and videos from then, it takes me back there. The next time they came to Australia was 1995 the concert here was at the MCG, I went with one of the parents who loved them too, from my sons' primary school. It was there Voodoo Lounge tour, the concert here was in March 95, it was absolutely fantastic, Mick Jaggers high energy was and still is incredible. The stage props were incredible as the whole concert was. I remember it took me a bit to work out one of the stage props it was a prop that had fire come out of it, it was a Cobra the height of the Cobra was 100 feet all the props were just incredible, there are images and vids you can view if you wish. The next concert that brought them back to Melbourne was on their 2003 Licks Tour the concert was at Rod Laver Arena. I went to one of the concerts and decided to go to another one as well I bought a surprise ticket for my daughter. We arrived went through to check our tickets in and went and hired binoculars for my daughter as we were high up in the arena, during the concert when they sang Honky Tonk Woman the animated footage came up on the screen, it was a hot chick riding the familiar Stones tongue logo, my daughter says to me that's a bit raunchy mum lol I loved what she said, so funny, we both had an absolute blast up dancing and singing as those all around us were to. 2003 was the start of my daughter and I sharing being in The Stones Zone From then on.The next concert that brought back to Melbourne was their Bigger Bang Tour once again my daughter an I went, it was at Rod Laver again, I got really good tickets close enough to the stage, no binoculars needed.Something I had thought about doing at their 03 concert, was to chuck a pair of big granny undies to Mick lol anyhow in 06 I did go out to Best and Less and buy a pair of large sized white women's undies got home and got ou my red marker and glitter I can't remember everything I wrote this is some of what I do.....Great journey so far and I signed it Cheers and Big Knickers from my daughter and me. lol As the concert was around Easter and I knew their families/ children come on tour so I got a few Easter things for them, I rang and spoke to someone in the office at the Arena beforehand to find out the best way to get it onto the stage anyway what I ended up doing was putting it all in a gift bag. When we got to our seats my daughter took the bag to a woman who was sitting next to the bars as she was close enough to hand it to one of the crew. The concert was fantastic, again we were up dancing and singing, as those all around were again too. After the concert we spoke to the woman my daughter gave the bag too, she said she handed over to one of the crew she also shared that she did take the undies out of the bag and held them up but she felt like Bridget Jones and put them back in the bag quickly lol bloody hilarious. I have wondered what happened to those undies and have thought maybe Charlie uses then to dust his drumkit lol. The last concert at Rod Laver again, that brought them back to Melbourne was their 14 On Fire Tour in 2014, I got pretty good tickets for my daughter and me, we were fairly close to the stage as well as pretty close to Lisa Fischer and Bernard Fowler (back up singers) another fantastic high energy concert again everyone up dancing and singing we had a blast. I hope they will head to our shores one more time but I doubt they will, but one thing I have learnt with The Stones is you never know... so just maybe we'll see.

Saw him last week and it was such an amazing concert. So fun. My taste in music is always evolving. I really like hip hop now and love watching these type of concerts they can have a great energy. Still hate country though 😬 - Posted from rhpmobile

Howard Jones is the only huge concert his dream into action tour. That guy could certainly perform. Seen many small venue concerts though and of all one stands out above the rest. Was privileged and lucky enough to attend a very small and personal set and guitar workshop with BoB Brozman (sadly passed) now this guy is not a household name but has been recognised as one of the worlds finest guitarists. Plays many traditional styles from all over the world with his own twists. Love his song Three Family Blues if you want to hear something a bit closer to main stream. Anyways he shared so many stories as many as the songs he played. And he showed us some of his secrets on how to get effects from the guitar without the use of amplification and pedals etc. To sit and chat with him over a cuppa was inspirational and like talking to an old friend. Fantastic evening. ChasingMidnight would have been an amazing and interesting night, three of the guitar heroes from the eighties. Did it become a little cacophonous as I can imagine it could with three big egos up there together with the shredding skills to go with it. Speaking of great guitarists the one concert I did not go to and regret it as a big fan through their earlier career was Van Halen

Wondering about the undies, what ever happened to them is something we all would wonder about on the odd occasion, especially, and this may just be from me being a man and from a mans perspective, I have no clue how a woman would configure all her dirty thoughts and from what depths of dark as to boundaries for just how dirty her thoughts may illuminate, although it has become a thing that we all ave very similar thought processes, men do have feelings and emotions and multi tasking is unfortunately not gender specific, therefore men should no longer be considered dull, or just a simple creature without the multi task features, acceptable and a pat on the head will generally suffice, it's all been an illusion with miss direction, coined by women and well done, it was a thing held very well and so very very almost believable, likely high figures in the percentage of the songs any artist has ever produced, come to emotions men sing the stories of why it was she fucking hates me, is one that comes to mind. Puddle of Mud, another i'll quote a feeling from a mans emotions he put to us. A song called, 'Control'. 'I love the way you look at meI feel the pain you place insideYou lock me up inside your dirty cageWell I'm alone inside my mind I'd like to teach you all the rulesI'd get to see them set in stoneI like it when you chain me to the bedBut then your secrets never shone I need to feel you, you need to feel meI can't control you, you're not the one for me, noI can't control you, you can't control meI need to feel you, so why's there even you and me?' The undies. Rubi, I spent a few years and a lot of time, with many musicians, backstage with bands, a friend and drummer I had been given once, lol true. He needed someone with him, so much to be done. Most was around people of the music performances and more to caring for many people, every day the phone would ring in the morning, next sitting in the car being told a story for how special this person we were about to see and for me, meet first time with my friend. Many of those were the rock and roll 'super stars' or whatever. Tough life in the music industry, the more successful, the more demand to meet the followers, being music, the diary pre filled with dates to be in a places, go to work in front of thousands solely to feel the pleasures of thought, feelings, emotions, put into poetry, then Rock 'n Roll, Jazz, Blues, Opera, theatrical stage performances, busking on a street corner, Fraggle Rock;, etc. People get mentally and physically exhausted, a little organ producing arousal and other of good feelings, can become exhausted, stops producing. Often all is needed is something to remind it, it needs to pump out those (chemicals amino acids are selected and formulated to be released for us to feel the way we do). We went from person to person who were struggling with the depressing state without the chemicals arousal (small word, massive meanings) we would go reset that little organ and people we left would all-ways be feeling the feelings again, hundreds of people, more over the years. Don't need to be some graduate specialist of psychological teachings to know something experiences, perhaps the person learns to understand at school to become a knower and means of income a career, a job.Our time was from one to the next super star after another with laughter and smiles and a hug with 'thankyou coming to care for me', a privilege, an education and insight into the simple things remedy the most diagnosed complicated mental health commodities and medicine prescriptions have made a thriving business as to the placebo pill. I see you don't mind a bit of a read Rubi, nor writing a read as I have enjoyed reading this topic, your story. Pete Morgan, the keyboard player and original member of Billy Thorpe and one of the Aztecs, this story has come to mind with the undies, the live stage rock'n roll concerts, back stage and in studios, recording and rehearsals, up in town for a show and couch surfing in a friends home in between the shows. Piggy he is better known and I remember sitting with him as we ate a meal our friend had prepared, She said it was a poor man Russian type of food, purple. mince and beetroot and cabbage I think. All Piggy thought as expressed the entire time he was up for a show, gig, concert, work, whateva, was how delicious the meal we ate, (the comforts of care and compassion, insight and spirit lifting a little spoilt for comforts in the lounge and living room, a family feeling and joys of with a rock'n roll superstar of the likes.) Dirty minds, men it's all they think about, sex and do crazy things when thinking with their little head, can't they understand we have multi tasking and need that connection, most in sex is in the mind and a little embarrassed by the parading sex crazed men, we are much more composed lol. (things I've heard of course, not any assumptions or for a smack from the girls) Piggy throughout the years with Thorpe, was known for displaying womens underwear on his electric organs on stage when playing. It was a thing that when the band played in concerts all around the world even. It was women throwing their underwear they were wearing, up to Piggy playing his organ, a phenomenon of women behaving as the principals of naughty sex crazed elicit and pushing the boundaries in public arena's, not multi tasking, composed ? A case and historically by nature with behaviour, (all those nickers Piggy kept, his favourite's of the moments there for all to see as he pushed notes off the keys, the (connection?) for those intimacies driving womens sexual behaviour when thinking with their little pussies. (Just pondering) Thorpe is a legend, he died around the time 2010, he was recording last I saw him, 'Tangier', putting down the drum track, sitting with Clarky another legend in the music industry because they are both dead now, it's the only way one can become a legend. At the mixing desk in Thorpe's studio Clarky playing back the recording of Tangier in the making and through some new valve amps he added to the mike inputs, sound quality. It sounded awesome, especially when standing in one of three places in the studio where the harmonics when listening, is ineffable Also as to the feelings of sex, I find ineffable, it's an intimate connection thing I need and can't explain, although in one sense after listening to the raw version of this new music we heard, and from a standpoint of ineffable harmonic dynamics (like the sounds are perfect in every sense, right in the middle centre of the brain, yet larger than the world around, it is all and everything of the mind and awesome sensations come of it) I said to Thorpe "it sounds like sex", he stopped and looked at me across the room and laughed. "it's supposed to sound like sex Mado", and it was a fine moment and good memories Rubi. Thanks for your's Mado Mado Tara xx

has got me through so much it has certainly made a difference for me in my life. One of the things I endured especially in the teen years was my father's emotional and psychological nastiness, ( he was always on simmer I never knew when the erruption would happen) one of the things he did a number of times was to cut off the plug of the radio, I can clearly remember the colour of the radio and chopping board, fortunately he would always repair it. So all was well in the end each time and I could tune in and tune out to some great songs again.Thank goodness for music I say

Luckily I grew up with an eclectic range of tunes in the house and a kickass system to boot. Melanie was an artist my mother played frequently so here are two favourites of mine The Saddest Thing And the saddest thing Under the sun above Is to say goodbye To the ones you love All the things that I have known Be came my life my very own But before you know you say goodbye Oh, good time, goodbye It's time to cry But I will not weep nor make a scene Just say "thank you Life for having been." And the hardest thing Under the sun above Is to say goodbye to the ones you love No I will not weep nor make a scene I'm gonna say "thank you Life for having been." And the loudest cry Under the sun above Is to silent goodbye From the ones you love Aaahaaha.... Any Guy I was bored I would not compromise Wanted more So I looked in your eyes But it could have been any guy's It could have been any guy's eyes But your eyes were there And they started to stare But don't think that I care - No Now you got The feeling you're great Cause we shared A few looks And I made one mistake But it could have been any one I was looking for that kind of fun And you were right there In love, all is fair But don't think that I care Now you got A new friend I know So I'm packing my things And I'm going to go Please don't make a scene Don't cry You can't stop me if you try I love being free It's the best way to be Is she as pretty as me, huh?? (3x) Is she as pretty as me, huh-huh? Is she as pretty as me, huh

7 Feb 2018, 12:46pm and it's on ABC tv online. I was already aware that he lived in Austalia, if you wish to read the rest of the story or watch the related video it's from Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead to quiet life on the road for former tour manager Sam Cutler From running a London folk club in the early 1960s to working as a tour manager for the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead, Sam Cutler says he left behind a life of "massive hedonism" to find himself and follow his own dreams. It's a journey that he began as an orphan in war-torn London before ending up in Australia as a writer and Buddhist dealing with cancer and living a gypsy-life in a bus.Mr Cutler's parents died during WWII and young Sam was evacuated to an orphanage to escape the bombings of London before being brought up by adoptive parents in the eastern outskirts of the city."I always loved music. My adoptive mother played piano very well and my uncle Jack was a violin player," he said. Caught up in the bluesHe later trained as a teacher while also running a folk club in a room above a pub.Mr Cutler was swiftly caught up in the wave of young musicians discovering the blues and R&B and met then-unknown musicians like Keith Richards and Charlie Watts who, within a few years, would be world-famous as members of The Rolling Stones. His interest in organising concerts led him to work for a production company that presented concerts in London's Hyde Park. After working on concerts by Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton, Mr Cutler worked on the famous Rolling Stones Hyde Park concert in 1969.From there, The Stones offered him the job of tour manager for their upcoming tour of the United States. It was at the beginning of that tour that he first announced what would become their standard introduction: "Ladies and gentlemen, the greatest rock and roll band in the world, The Rolling Stones".For the then-26-year-old, it was the experience of a lifetime to be managing the tour of the biggest rock band of the time.

Love her songs and voice. Have listened to and watched - Where Have All The Cowboys Gone -- my introduction to her. Currently listening to -- Me -- Love the lyrics. I am not the person who is singing, I am the silent one inside. I am not the one who laughs at people's jokes, I just pacify their egos. I am not my house, my car or my songs, They are only stops along my way. I am like the winter, I'm a dark cold female, With a golden ring of wisdom in my cave. (chorus)And it's me who is my enemy Me who beats me up Me who makes the monsters Me who strips my confidence I am carrying my voice I am carrying a heart. I am carrying the rhythm I am carrying my prayers, but you can kill my spirit, it's old and it is strong, And like a mountain I'll go on and on. But when my wings are folded, The brightly colored moth blends into the dirt into the ground And it's me who is my enemy. Me who beats me up. Me who makes the monsters. Me who strips my confidence. And it's me who's too weak, And it's me who's too shy to ask for the thing I love. And it's me who's too weak, And it's me who's too shy to ask for the thing I love. But I love I am walking on the bridge, I am over the water, And I'm scared as hell But I know there's something better. (Yes I know, yes I know, yes I know, yes I know) (chorus 2x)

I love it when I stumble across something new that sets my world on fire. The great thing about music is that there is so much out there, even within a broad genreone can't possibly hope to experience it all. There is always more to find. A couple of weeks ago I was just cruising around clicking on this and that on youtube whenI came across a relatively new band from the Ukraine called Ignea in the genre of oriental metal with Symphonic andindustrial elements. From my 1st initial listen I was hooked, and went and searched the album on Tidal HiFi (can't beat Flac). Kinda been listening to it everyday since, just adore the way that female vocalist Helle Bogdanova switches seamlessly between growls and normal singing voice.

Really enjoyed a listen and no doubt will put me on to much more. Came across a group via youtube a few years back I love called Ulytau a folk/neo-classical metal band from Kazakhstan instrumental only. And a must see called 'Yaybahar Improvisation at Seaside' an amazing home made instrument with wonderful haunting sounds. Unsure if he has released anything of yet but I will have to suss that out it is incredible. Couple of instrumentalists well worth noting are Jake Shimabukuro - ukulele and Alexey Arkhipovsky - balalaika

They have just announced a Summer tour starting in May The Rolling Stones, who have toured every year since 2012 and whose principals are all in their 70s, have announced another set of concert dates, this one a summer stadium run through the U.K. and Europe. The 11-date “No Filter” tour launches May 17 in Ireland and is likely to be another set filled with greatest hits, to judge by the video clip announcing the tour. The tour began last year; full dates are listed below.“NO FILTER! The news you’ve all been waiting for!” the announcement reads. “The Rolling Stones are bringing the No Filter tour to the UK and Ireland this summer, with some additional European shows! #TheRollingStones #StonesNoFilter #Tour” .In the initial run of dates includes five in the U.K., two in Germany two, and France, and one each in the Czech Republic and Poland. Rather than doing months-long campaigns as they did over the past few decades, the group’s strategy over the past five years has been to do a dozen-odd shows per continent every few months. .This tour was teased by founding guitarist Keith Richards in a Tweet a few hours before the dates were announced. .“We haven’t finished yet. It’s still too early to talk about the Stones’ legacy. There’s one thing that we haven’t yet achieved and that’s to really find out how long you can do this. It’s still such a joy to play with this band that you can’t really let go of it.” . Keith Richards – “It’s such a joy to play with this band there’s no stopping us, we’re only just getting started really.”.Mick Jagger – ‘‘This part of the ‘No Filter’ tour is really special for the Stones. We are looking forward to getting back onstage in the summer and playing to fans in the UK and Ireland. Its always exhilarating going to cities we haven’t played for quite a while and also some new venues for us like Old Trafford & The London Stadium.’’.Charlie Watts – “The Stones audience is the glue that keeps us together. The best and most satisfying moment is when you are reaching the end of the show and they are all going nuts.”. Ronnie Wood – “When I look out at the sea of people when we play all I can see is smiles. It’s heart-warming and I’m glad we make people happy. Music makes me happy, and it makes them happy…. its infectious.” . They are still Rolling so to speak, I still reckon their band name says it all. .It's possible they'll head here later during our warmer weather or maybe early Autumn next year

those who follow the Stones will get what I'm saying. Charlie Watts: it wouldn't bother me if Rolling Stones split.Seventy-six-year-old drummer says he would be fine if the band called it a day tomorrow.Charlie Watts, the 76-year-old Rolling Stones drummer, who with his septuagenarian colleagues has announced the band’s first UK dates for five years, has said that if the band ended tomorrow that would be fine..“I love playing the drums and I love playing with Mick and Keith and Ronnie, I don’t know about the rest of it,” he said. “It wouldn’t bother me if the Rolling Stones said that’s it ... enough.”.The Stones have announced they will be playing in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff during May and June with tickets going on sale on the 2nd of March. Given that they formed the band 56 years ago and their combined ages are 294, that is somewhat remarkable..“I don’t know what I would do if I stopped,” Watts said. “Keith is a great one for saying once you’re going, keep going. The big worry for me is being well enough. We don’t work like we used to fortunately. There are huge gaps between each show.”.Many musicians and artists of a certain age would now be considering their legacy but not Watts, who said he was amazed at the reaction to David Bowie’s death. “I thought people would have been very sad obviously, and he was a lovely guy and he wrote a couple of good songs. But for me, he wasn’t this musical genius.”.Watts said he had no idea if the current “No Filter” tour would be the last. “For me, I would like to be standing on Sunday 8 July at the end of the show in Warsaw. That’s as far as I can see.”.The hard-living days are long over, commented Watts, who said he had not drunk alcohol or smoked for some time. “We are getting to that elderly period, so it’s a good thing not to. When you’re 40 and you’ve got a hangover you get up and have another drink and you’re off again. I don’t think we could do it nowadays ... at this age. Smoking and drinking are not like they were in the 50s. In the 40s and 50s every film star smoked. You’d never see a film star now drinking or smoking, it’s not fashionable, I’m glad to say. In another way it has ruined jazz clubs ... they are totally unlike what I would consider a club. They have become very clinical.”.If the band ever call it a day he hopes it will be without rancour. “I would hate it to dissolve not amicably. I would like Mick to say, or me or Keith or whoever ... I don’t want to do it any more, for whatever reason, and we just say that’s it. I wouldn’t want it to be an argument or whatever.” Source -- The Guardian

I think most older bands that tour are past it but the avid fans still love it and clearly so do the musicians themselves. I can't believe the price of any concerts these days so pricey. Possibly if Dire Straits came together for a tour I'd lash out but they were as tight as a rock band gets. I have an album with Robert Plant and Allison Krauss not a bad one at all.

I am one of those that have camped out and managed to get the tickets and good seats in a lower price limited section. Not sure if they do come to Melbourne again if I would go, I know my daughter would want to and my son who's hasn't been with us is keen to come along so i'll see.Oh I never get caught buying the memorabilia at any concert but I will buy the concert program. The first time I took my daughter in 03, as we were heading out after the concert she spotted a $10 note on the ground a security guard said "that's a lucky find" she went and bought a poster with it. :) Quoting 'MrMojoRisin' The Strolling Bones, I once would have killed for a ticket to see them. Now I can't help but see them as anything but an over priced and over hyped piece of memorabilia.

my daughter commented how it was good to see Mick's expressions I had a bit of a chuckle at the time as I remembered her "that's bit raunchy mum" comment in 03 and thought well at least she didn't say wrinkles.

Your mention of the concert memorabilia reminded me of a guy I once knew Rubi. Years back I met a friend up the road from me. Ross was his name and a rather strange fellow, an original hipster, agoraphobic and an alcoholic, damn well drank two bottles of Bundy a day, used to call me blue cat (red head). Anyways he tells me he was an ex roadie for some big bands and told me many stories one of which he was too flat out and had to knock back a sit in with Santana, was an amusing story. Well of course I listened to his tales not really believing it as he was a bit mentally disturbed turns out it was because of way too much partying, alcohol and drugs. As one day he takes me to the spare room and shows me bags of tshirts flyers and posters from the 60's and 70's and major artists. Black Sabbath, Santana, Skyhooks, The Stones, Alice Cooper etc. It was all the tour memorabilia that only those connected with the tours had. It was fantastic going through his stuff but unfortunately I was not allowed to buy any shirts from him. All these huge artists and brand new touring shirts that the public would never have seen. He reminded me of the author in a book called 'When the music's over: My Journey into schizophrenia' interestingly enough the Authors name is Ross David
