Are you a risk taker or risk adverse?

April 04 2013

do you embrace change or always want to feel secure in the familiar? Have there ever been times in your life that you have taken a risk and never or ,have always regretted it? Do you see yourself as an adventurer ,not just in matters sexual but in all aspects of life? Do you wish that you could be like that, break free and an adventurer be?

The worst thing that could have happened to me already has. Therefore I am a fearless risk taker in all areas of my life. I no longer have the fears of many years ago , no not even death, this can be a good but also a adverse thing but I live accordingly. Sometimes my risks work out and sometimes I spectacularly crash and burn. But I no longer care. A life lived in fear is a life half lived and I alone am responsible for my actions. Life is way too fucking short not to live it !!!- Posted from rhpmobile

No matter how much we may fear Change it's always positive . Make the best of any situation . We are very adaptable . Always try to find humour in tough situations . I don't regret anything I've done . Close the gate after the horse has bolted ? What's the Point ? Trust in the knowledge that acting on your Instinct is ultimately the best choice . I've done numerous psych tests and character analysis exercises in my work life, and I've been noted as a risk taker......which is somewhat ironic for an OHS manager. Go figure

Can I be adventurous but also play it safe? I try not to blindly walk into things. I research stuff constantly before being adventurous...

I'm considered, sometimes far too so, and that can lead to actual caution or an appearance of caution. But I get bored, and I'm passionate, so can be restrained for ever. Short answer: umm, not sure! - Posted from rhpmobile

Make me do the same thing 3 times and I'm over it and ready to move on to the next thing.I'm spontaneous, impulsive and easily led astray. Bring it on, life's too short, break the rules, live on the edge.....what's the worst that can happen?I have never regretted anything I've done, only things I haven't done when I had the opportunity.....now I'm all about saying "yes"

I'm spontaneous and say yes to a lot of things many others wouldn't. But I say no plenty often. I know who I am, what floats my boat. I know what's outside my comfort zone. I like to lean just beyond my edge :)

Previously I was content with the way things were, and I was loathe to experience new things new due to fear of disappointment. Then I began to say 'yes' more often. Something will spark my interest, and I'll research into it. But I don't go so far as to jump blindly into things.

havent exactly sat on my hands so far.....so i'd say risk taker.... i have done a few things that i had a truckload of fun with... a few that are, by nature, fairly dangerous..... currently doing 'track days' at Qld Raceway, with my bro in law....and his BMW HP4....woohoo!

not change for change sake. I, like a few others here, do my research, plan, re-plan, come up with plans B, C, D and E before doing anything new. In my line of work, change is a constant. I am also someone who likes to try new things. Yes, put an unknown dish in front of me and I would try it to see how it tastes like. I would ask someone if it was vegetarian first though. However, I am very conservative, i.e. risk averse if the consequences are fatal. The only shares I invest in are through super. I would rather put my money in the bank. I would research to death something to buy before actually going out to buy it. Then again, I moved from country to country, state to state for one reason or the other. So, perhaps not as risk averse as I thought. I don't know. Anyone with a degree is psychology willing to conduct some tests?

I think its good to take a chance now and again... The familiar is good for stability but you get bored when caught in a rut. Take a chance and add some excitement to ones life is a great feeling that can leave you feeling alive. Trying something new can be very rewarding...

Fear is a word that enters my mind constantly..... Some things I can jump head first into without hesitation n other things well that horrid word of FEAR enters n I'm left in my nice cosy comfort zone... There are so many hurdles I'm wanting to jump, so Many questions I'm wanting to ask, so many risks I'm wanting to take - but 'what if'....... Life is too short I must agree - but but but I need a dose of harden the fuck up!! Love the topic!!

Risk taker, always have been. I'm that one who says and does what everyone else is thinking. Sometimes it bites me in the bum but geez I have fun! And I like my bum bitten.

I hear exactly what you are saying OP.Sometimes I like change and other times change is really difficult for me.Sometimes I have this burning fire inside of me that wants to break free especially, if it's something I'm really really passionate about. Most of the time I am detailed and have my plans well laid to take a risky risks.I try to use my good judgement, gut instincts and strong morals. I can be impulsive at times and dive right in cause I get impatient and am head strong.Other times I just go with the flow and think "what will be, will be" /"oh f*ck it..it's going to be OK"So for me to take risks, I try to plan it out to make the right choices for me and other times don't. I know for one, a few risks I've taken has bitten me hard on the bum.Oh dear, that just means my life is not perfect.I have taken risks that I have regretted- YEP you bet ya!!....HO HUM life goes on - no use hanging on or holding grudges me thinks - what's done is done.FOXY

Was walking away from a marriage and moving to Brisbane. Made that decision overnight - it just popped into my head it did.I got a work transfer within two days..moved within a month - I left behind my friends, my support system, sold my house and had everything imaginable, was just unhappy. So I just packed up and moved with my daughter and had just my close friends who lived out of state and family support that was it.I moved to start a new life - had this burning passion/fire to find happiness..It bit me on the bum many many times for the first 2 yrs and I struggled and was awful.Somehow I managed to get past all that...AND NOW...I have meet some beautiful amazing people here in Brisbane and made some great friends along the way. I work with an amazing team of people who are fantastic and supportive - just the best!!My daughter and family still love me and so do my life-long friends - and that's the most important thing.Sometimes taking a huge risk takes courage and a lot of inner strength. So I reckon some HUGE risks are worth taking - and in the long run turns out BRILLIANTLY!!FOXY

Being a student pilot, I usually have a contingency organised, but after that I make things up as I go, so I guess in a way I embrace change, while at the same time it's a little hard to accept- Posted from rhpmobile

I try to live outside the comfort zone. Is it risky? Yes and no. Too risky to live a dull life I must say. Why live in a shoe when the world is out there. Its a shame that some can not handle it. So will fall in love again I hope, and will be insulted, humiliated, put down, and maybe spat at again. But prefer the dark unknown path over the well know illuminated road to boredom.
