Chronic health issues and sex

January 23 2015

I'm interested to hear from people who may have chronic (i.e. long term) health issues - physical, mental or both. How does your condition/s affect your sex life, and how do you deal with that?

Excellent question. I take a sabbatical from everyone and everything until I feel like getting healthy again. Peeps just have to look after their own sex interests in the interim. Liberty to apply. HugsGaz

I'm a type 2 diabetic. Because of poor sugar level control over the years I now have slight nerve damage in both feet but worst of all is I'm almost impotent. I can get an erection (not rock hard though) but have trouble maintaining it. As for how to handle it, I don't know because at the moment I'm not sure if I can maintain an erection during sex as it has been about 8 or 9 months since I last had sex. So if there is anyone out there willing to help me out, let me know. I'm sure there are other ways I could compensate for a lack of an erection, I guess I'll learn as I go. Finally a tip to those that have diabetes - get control of it or you may end up like me.

So have you had to go onto insulin or are you still able to control your blood sugar with diet and lifestyle modifications (you don't have to answer of course if you don't wish to)? Thanks for your comment....Type 2 diabetes has become a serious chronic health issue in Australia and it's something people should be very aware of. And yes there are certainly things you can do to address the erection problem, hopefully it won't be too long before you get to try those out.

Luck_Dragon, I have been able to control the blood sugar levels (BSL) with diet and exercise but all too often I slip back into bad habits. But I'm slowly losing weight (and I'd rather do it slowly) and controlling the BSL but I could do a lot better.

I have to work around it. I have had 17 Major operationsI have permanent vertigo so people think I am a drunkI have diverticulitis and that's not pretty when it plays up. spinal fusions anemia lack of vit b12 depression and anxiety were my only house mates for a while there. what do i do, i fuck of into my shell for a while. or you just come across a compassionate sex buddy that gets it and does not have a conniption when he sees a hormone patch or scars all over your body. Life is messy everyone has their moments, good and bad in sickness and in health no matter the circumstance , Sometimes if your not on the game some nice sensual touching and sensual play can make you feel a whole lot better. I have known of guys on here with health issues , in wheel chairs or other things and if you work around things like that you can find that it can work out just fine. women might have some problems where they are not able to have sex but sex is more than your pink bits. Now i have to go see a neurologist, something wrong with my brain, but hey we all knew that anyway. Its been missing for some time.

I have had type ! Diabetes for over 40 years, it does effect your sex life, I was un-controlled for years, with limited erection's, now after realising I was an idiot, I got my sugar level's in spec, I now can maintain an erection, albeit not as hard as a 20 year old, lol, but it is still hard enough, KOUDAS for " WITHOUTACLUE" for bringing this topic up, very brave

too short arms. This is caused through a deformation of the wrists it’s called Madelung deformity.......I have never in my life been inside my vagina with my hands. Madelung deformity is a type of dwarfism. You just live with it, because there is nothing you can do about it and you adapt.

I have pernicious anaemia, von Willebrand disease and the operation on on my hip for a bone tumour has left me with limited movement in that hip. With an understanding partner and lots of different positions, sex is very satisfying. - Posted from rhpmobile
