Comedies to Laugh at!

July 20 2016

We all have different tastes and what makes some laugh will get a completely different reaction out of others. A favourite series I'm following again at the moment is Roseanne. I loved the sarcastic humour tied in with the real life drama of a family. What is the memorable comedy that gave you a big laugh? And what was it about it? TIA Peachy

To love listening to the radio on a Satuday afternoon .The ABC broadcast old episodes of the Goons.aka Spike Milligan,Peter Sellers and Harry Seccombe . What was it about? Just utter nonsense ,it was a precursor to Monty Python and the Goodies. The other show I loved was My Word with Frank Muir and Denis Norden..it was a word association game..eg You cant have your kayak and heat it TV shows.Fawlty Towers..John Cleese is a comic genius as the nightmarish Fawlty.Monty Python of course.Ab Fab,the Vicar of Dibley,Little Britain,Kath and Kim,..I also enjoy QI,Would I Lie to You and Are You Paying Attention..I still watch re runs of MASH and Frasier..David Hyde -White as Miles is a physical comic genius. Peachy I think Roseanne paved the way for comedies like Everyone Loves Raymond. The King of Queens etc, comedies I don't like so much.Great topic Peachy 😂Q

Arrested Development- the way all the episodes tied together and rewatching it you pick up new elements that were missed before Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister- I grew up on this and always found it clever and funny, but even more so in the fullness of time :p

John Cleese, anything with him in, funny man, Faulty Towers was insane, the poor staffEverybody Loves Raymond, I was so sad when that finished, could relate to much of their life/relationship, it was a comfortable, easy kind of humourRobin Williams, absolutely loved the man, he was incredible. Not only funny but a brilliant actor IMO Heath Franklin as Chopper Read is by a long shot, my favourite though. Just watched a bit then. Giving job interview advice, walks in, leans across the table to shake hands "Gidday, how the fuck are ya" or the 'non homosexual' way to do the heimlich maneuver, hysterical

since all the recent election hullabaloo, for us it has been the chasers election desk (which is now over), and the ongoing 'shaun micallefs mad as hell' his facial expressions are just gold. cant go past some classic monty python though as qefenta1 above mentioned, most things with john cleese actually girlfriend does have a bit of a thing for arrested development ...analrapist...oh dear! i do recall enjoying the goodies also while growing up, we certainly need more of those bold shows poking fun at the ridiculousness of politics/society etc

...I watched Fifty Shades of Black, a parody of the other more well-known Fifty Shades. It was so hilarious! :-D I also liked the Rom-Com, Goodbye to All That. Strange it's not available for purchase here. How to Plan An Orgy in a Small Town, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno are also funny movies. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has its amusing moments too. And when I'm time-poor, any of the funny animal video compilations on YouTube will make me laugh!

... that fabulous and unique US improvisational comedy show, Whose Line Is It Anyway. That was brilliant! The comedians had to think on their feet and every episode, they came up with crazy stuff! Talented bunch of comedians on that show!

God how could I forget The IT Crowd. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour, but start watching from the first episode. First few episodes are gold 👍👌

I'm Alan Partridge!!! Saxondale! The Mighty Boosh! Absolute Power with Stephen Fry was great too. I prefer the UK comedies because they're so well written just the audio is usually enough to crack me up.

I love a sarcastic naughty humor, not much of it around anymore. Carol O'Connor as Archie Bunker probably my fav on TV. I do like - The Big Bang Theory and several regulars from the RHP forums. 😂 - Posted from rhpmobile
