Covid Restrictions

January 07 2022

Just curious are people still going to parties with so much Covid going around? Are these parties on here are they actually going ahead?

Good question. I had planned to go to events this month but am currently reconsidering and will probs give them the swerve bc of the broad covid risk.

No. Not this little black duck. I'd be mad too. Here in QLD it's a high risk area, therefore, as a health worker, my priority is my health first of all, job and family. I'm not interested in attending any large group gatherings like adult clubs or parties. The risk is way to high for me, even at work. Ms Foxy

I know some that are attending parties and life for them is back to business as usual pre Covid . I agree with Foxxxy , our health , our family and my job in healthcare are all more important than exploration . We feel the risks outweigh the potential benefits . As much as we miss the anticipation of meeting someone new , the excitement of the unknown , we are unsure when we will be confident to resume to life as it was . As with all things it’s all personal choice . Stay safe everyone.Ax

Same as above 👆 I’ve made the choice to not attend any adult parties or clubs … it’s getting out of control in Melb again 😳

We aren’t super concerned but will likely avoid parties etc. for the next month or so until the peak drops off and everything settles down.

We have cancelled all of ours, it’s just not worth it.

When I see an increased rate of illness maybe I’ll change the way I do things. Its life as normal around here, we don’t have sex but we party and all hug & kiss each other 🤷🏼‍♀️ I should probably go to a city where all this apparent illness is and witness it for myself because this is actually confusing, how can the world outside of my phone is SO different to the world my phone & TV say I’m living in? It’s bonkers.

I'm in two minds, lifestyle back to normal (you can blame the last 18 months for that decision) OR......continue to be a little cautious because of the disruption it would have on my office if it were to go into lockdown.... But I guarantee we'll all have an answer over the next couple of weeks.

Well I don't "live in fear" of this virus (an expression thrown around). But I'd rather not get it. And not take the risk of being the small percentage it has a serious immediate or long term impact on. Or more likely spread it to health compromised people I care much about which are many. So no parties for me and the usual simple, free, easy precautions. This time will pass. But it's kind of moot regarding parties as for various reasons have been mainly out of it for years now. I might find it a lesser risk if I worked from home. Life for the average Joe/Jill may be all fine unless you work in a hospital or equivalent (simple ideology). Or need some care in a hospital atm. Or know people in either situation. Or possibly have these requirements in the near future even if you don't know it yet (some are already discouraging new ED patients, ambulance call out delays and ramping for hours was already a problem). I care about overwork, stress and burnout on health workers because I also want this system to remain strong if and when it becomes personal/needed for me. In any case turning off the tv DOES ease worries of all world problems, not just covid. Diseases, car accidents, war, famine, disasters, politics, environmental problems, all reduce if you switch off the sources of news which you may or may not believe anyway. (This is advised to do sometimes temporarily, as there is indeed such a thing as compassion or empathy fatigue, especially like any societal problem, the impacts are mostly on people you don't know and will never meet). [Now to turn off RHP too, to avoid the abuse haha]
