Date night tonight

September 21 2012

I've been asked on a date! It's the second time ever and the first time was years ago. We're going for dinner - so a real date, not one of those dodgy coffee meets where a guy is secretly hoping you'll jump his bones. This guy is nice, so respectful, intelligent and not pushy, but very direct, which I enjoy. So the big question ... what does a girl wear on a first date, never met before, nice but casual restaurant, sex is not on the menu? Guys and gals, your opinions please ...

So are you saying that a dinner date means he won't be hoping yourgoing to jump his bones?Ok seriously now, it shouldn't matter, but reserved and understatedsensuality could be appropriate.Cheers Felonious

Well it’s a given that you start off with gorgeous sexy lingerie….no ..not for him although if your date should like kick on till the morning lite, well no lady wants to be caught in their Bonds comfies…wear your best for you though….cause beautiful lingerie makes everyone women feel desirable, sexy and confident (which you are anyway !!) I’m an advocate for killer heels (yes you can endure the pain, you will sitting down after all) …again for the same reasons listed above …no great love story or terrific sex ever started with the lady wearing ballet flats..!!! The Dress – go a dress…I believe most men still like a women to look like a women and I reckon you would rock a dress with your figure…..and its dinner….and personally I think it’s nice that people still get “dressed up” for that first date…not too much cleavage..a hint, a promise ……not too short either…..…...memorable but make sure you’re comfortable as I’m sure he doesn’t want to watch you fidgeting all nite long…….perfume is a must …..it evokes memory…. Don’t change your hairstyle….leave it naturally how you wear it most of the time…you can style it differently for the second date More importantly, relax, enjoy it all, be yourself and smile !!! Have an awesome nite petal… Love your Stylist... What time does the footy start in WA ???.... ***sigh***

be careful , I went on one a while back and the guy was a real creep , the photo he posted was years old , anyway , I told him thanks but no thanks , he went nuts and made a scene , followed me home , I had to get the Police , he ended up stalking me , and was standing in my front yard in the early hours of the morning , I set the dog onto him and called the police again , simply awful. so dress down , I didn't and this bloke took it as an invitation

Perfect answers peeps, thank you! Here's what I'd thought of - 'comfy'. Here's what hadn't even occurred to me - smile, lingerie, dress, perfume. How silly do I feel!!?? So I'm now feeling armed and just a little dangerous ;) Thanks for your concern single - as MsVelvet mentioned, I have a back up plan. I'll let you all know how it goes ...

As a man of course I love a sexy hot lady but I also like her to dress comfortably and practical. Trying to have a conversation with a lady who is cold or uncomfortable in what she is wearing is no fun and a fun comfortable date is going to leave me wanting more. happy days Mr Dolphin

Well, given I'm an old-fashioned girl it was a proper, delightful date. Dinner, lots of chat, a wander to a bar for a drink and then home. Just how it should be for me, slow and sweet. I did discover one thing - I don't have a single date-worthy dress in my wardrobe! But I think I looked ok in my skinny pants, boots and shiny top :)

Neat casual is always good. Although Singleagain blames what she wore for the subsequent behaviour on the date, in reality she ran into a berk. Berks need no encouragement, because they are nuts.

Quoting 'chickcara'So Halcyon you were on a date where the guy was not hoping you'd jump his bones. I'm not that naive :) I simply meant that it was a proper getting to know you date rather than one of those pretend 'coffee dates', which are just a euphemism for "let's fuck now".

I like to take things pretty slowly, so one step at a time. I'm not sure about the dress shopping. I'm thinking I'm more of a pants kind of girl :s   LOL @ good kisser. Seriously, who kisses on a first date?! (:P)
