If Im in a dress and heels I get waved across......in my work clothes, top and leggings, sometimes not! A pair of legs on show seems to be very much appreciated

Well I know this very well as someone who has been a little different in their life especially in a fairly closed minded town. I have always stopped to help others as that is how I was brought up but how interesting it is to find that people did not want help though obviously in need of when I dressed casually and almost hippie-like then the next day dressed in neat attire the difference in attitude. I have actually watched people that said they didn't need assistance accept it from a well dressed person a minute after they declined the help from me. It used to make me very upset but I just laugh at it now. If only those knew that sometimes the best people are those that look like they have little. Just one of the reasons I tend to treat people equally. Oh what a sad mixed up world we live in sometimes

This will probably bring me more brick bats. Clothes maketh the man. And they certainly do women also. But the only clothes that will work will be the well presenting business type. If I have to go to Sydney I will always wear a jacket and tie. If I have to travel on a commercial airline, likewise jacket and tie. Clothes give you authority. (except perhaps on this site.) Brick bats anybody

Say that I have noticed.probably because whether I am at work or just out and about I always wear the same style of clothing...I was once told by a man that I had dressed down when we met for coffee...I think he meant my boobs weren't hanging out 😒xxFreya

People do treat others differently based on appearance. I'm a guilty of it myself in certain situations. Eg. If I'm interested in a woman, I'll treat her differently to a woman I have no interest in. Obviously the respect and common courtesy is still there, but there are differences. I don't know why but there just is.

get treated differently. I wasn't always this fit and was once practically invisible, not anymore, guys hanging out the window of the car, i get treated with respect in shops etc but haven't forgotten how i used to feel, it fuels me, i feel empowered but always humbled and very happy with the physical shape i'm in. I also never look at other people in a lesser way, if that makes sense, i'm quietly encouraging them to hold their head high and work towards their goals - Posted from rhpmobile

I am a remote area labourer and when I finish a job I spend a week somewhere 5 star to regain some equilibrium. Usually rock up scruffy, bull dust dropping out from under the ute, eventually you will get service at check in etc, (till they see holiday wallet!), scrub up shave and suit and the same nose up staff turn into sycophantic hangers on within a blink of eye. It is astounding the difference even walking through a crowded bar in the city on a Friday night...all the work suits do make room for a sharper suit lol

We treat ourselves differently when we wear certain things..... why would it be any different for another to do the same?!! - Posted from rhpmobile

makes the difference as it doesn't matter if I go in for a beer wearing my work jeans, visy jacket and beanie or my dress jeans, button up shirt and tailored jacket, to the local pub, I'm treated the same. They know who I am and they are always courteous and have my regular drink on the bar with a smile.

I don't care what you're wearing, who you are, where you're going or where you've been. I don't know their story, yes we all have them, why on earth would I judge someone, for what, because they are not dressed to conform to what I think they should wear or look like..... No sorry, it not me, just like I don't conform to what people think I should be wearing, who I should be or what I should look like.....Would I help someone in a business suit, Yep if they needed it, would I do the same thing to some who was in stubbies and thongs, yep, if they needed it, would I stop to let the beautiful woman cross the road and leave the not so beautiful woman waiting on the side of the street, No I wouldn't....So not everyone treats people differently because of the way they're dressed or who they are, but yes there are plenty who do.....💋

Back in my mid twenties I was involved in a sales course, what a waste of time that was. Anyways we set up an experiment, we dressed as dirty couples and went to Myers to shop for bras. Hardly any service in fact where were the damn salespeople. The next day as the same couples dressed to impress we did the same thing, lo and behold you couldn't get rid of those damn annoying sales people. Writing this reminds me of the Melbourne bag lady who used to play the piano in I think David Jones. A great lesson in not judging a book by its cover. She was comfortable in who she was and just played for pleasure and when pestered to play professionally as she was philharmonic material she moved to Hobart (I think) and did a disappearing act. How fitting she moved to the only state I have been where as a young dirty drifting lad I was completely accepted

I was looking for a suit one day as I needed one for an interview. I just had my old work clothes on. Walked into Meyers and no one even came near me. Went to another higher end type of store and again no one came close to serve me. Then I noticed a smaller shop and as soon as I stepped in, a lady greeted me with a smile and did a great job of providing me with advice on how to choose a suit and what one should look and feel like on. I ended up buying the suit from her shop. However, I went back to meyers, wearing the suit...and I just could not get a second to myself...they all now came to serve me. I just walked out and was really disgusted, but at the same time grateful for that helpful lady in that smaller shop.

Quoting 'Gordie2650' This will probably bring me more brick bats. Clothes maketh the man. And they certainly do women also. Maybe the blazer does the trick out in the terminal amongst the people who see you walking by, but where it actually matters - on the plane, it's all about airline status. The story about getting upgrades because you're dressed well has been a myth for many years now - elite status works equally well with tshirt and shorts. I'm sure I probably do stop and let more attractive women cross gaps in traffic - I'm more likely to notice consciously notice them, and rear view mirrors don't give as good a view.
