I have said it before and I will say it again...I absolutely love the smell of a new book.... Have a few authors I will read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and .......... well you get the idea I am a big fantasy reader (we are taking magic etc not sexual lol) but do read the occasional mystery and erotic novel for a bit of light relief My favourite books though are the Sergeanne Golon Angelique series....have read them I dont know how many times now. I don't really read fiction! I'm not sure why. I wish I did, but my storytelling medium of choice is premium television (HBO, Showtime, AMC etc.)I used to read more as a youngster. Sci-fi and fantasy, as befits a proper li'l geeky kid. The Lord of the Rings is a favourite, to be totally unoriginal. And nineteen eighty-four. The latter I hated in high school, but came to adore (and fear) once I learnt a bit more about the world!I have read most of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series. Those books became hardcore pornography so gradually it was really quite breathtaking in hindsight! In Book 1 there was flirting. By Book 14 there were intimately described bisexual orgies with vampires feeding off sex and lust instead of blood! The Southern Vampire Mysteries (on which True Blood is based) pale by comparison!**Pun intended

I've found it very interesting to read Deida. Not sure I find it sexy exactly - but enlightening!I love "Think Big and Kick Ass" by Donald Trump... Mr Trump is a sexy man, so I found that book sexy I guess. And "What Men Don't Talk About". Again - not sexy but such amazing insight into and beyond the stereotypes we place on men.

Mmmmm pages, sweet pages, the aroma, the feel, the sound they make when you flick over the edge with your fingers... Sigh. Give me a proper book any day, rather than a Kindle or eReader. I certainly can't take an electronic reader into the bath with me, lazily devouring page by page with my hair damp, the bubbles popping, the bathroom fogged up with steam. Goodness knows I've got a whole collection of novels with the pages all curly from being dropped into the bathtub during an absent-minded fantasy playing out, followed by a long blow-drying session with the hairdryer.I have to admit though, I found Fifty Shades of Grey near hilarious; much better erotica out there, in my opinion!

I am an avid reader but 50 shades bored me stupid !!! - it was Mills and Boon on crack...and if I read the line "She rolled her eyes" one more time .................................seriously !!! You want to explore BDSM...skip this trilogy .................. Ok - I am a voracious reader..I go into serious meltdown when I finish a book and Im still stuck on the train...tapping my fingers, staring out onto horizon cursing that I didnt pack a "spare book"...not having anything to read does send me into hyper ventiliation anxiety mode...I read anything and everything ....from the side of the Special K cereal pack thru to Tolstoy...and this is the reason why I caved into buying a Kindle...so the guy next to me on the train wont have to endure my terror sweats, shakes and heavy breathing when I just read the last paragraph of my best buddy being a book and we are still 27 kms out from Mandurah railway station Being on a moving train and hitting like two buttons and downloading a book which appears like instantly, blows my little mind...I love it !! and the books are so much cheaper....yes I sold out..I still love the feel, smell, the texture, the thrill of opening up of a brand new book....but I had to consider my mental state and that of my fellow travelers....hence the cave in...but my Kindle is small, pretty, shiny and I now have like over 440 odd buddies who travel with me everywhere......happiness is almost complete.......I even named my Kindle...(its has a bit on it that you can name your Kindle..ok its a nerd thing) but I looooooooove my Kindle, I stroke it alot.......its like a vibrator for my brain..it delivers my much needed mind orgasm everytime... And Ive got everthing on there...fiction, non, biographies, reference books, the classics etc...I do read everything except for some unknown reason, I am not a fan of romance novels..strange, as I swear I am a true romantic at heart and I reckon in my former life I was Jane Austen..I think I would have fitted into her world very well....Im out of sorts in this one... My list of fav books is long and exhaustive..way too many to type here..and do I find books sexy and the people that read and write them even sexier...I love the cerebral.... My all time fav book, well it will make you laugh..and I have to admit, I haven't read it in a long time...but it is actually "Gone with the Wind" - Margaret Mitchell Why ? Well is a story of a woman, who when faced with so many different adversities in her life draws on her skills, her brains, her beauty and her sex to get what she wants, to see her thru,- she doesnt let the fact that she is a woman in a mans word - a world and a way of life that has been devastated by war...get in her way. She just gets on the with job of surviving and providing for her family and she will do anything SPOILER ALERT AHEAD to improve her lot in life.. - she marries men she doesnt love, she kills a man, she takes in the wife of the man who has her heart, etc etc..nothing slows her down or deters her......she is determined, fiesty, cunning and realistic..all played out against the backdrop of a bloody and senseless war and she is completely oblivious to a mans love.....that appeals to the romantic in me - plus Im a Yank and we won the war Its a funny kind of book to still love after all these years...but sometimes I like to think I have a little bit of Scarlett in me....her unshakeable belief that all will be well in the end...cause "After all, tomorrow is another day "....

I am a huge fan of erotic books. I find them more of a turn on as I have a very vivid imagination and have even told my better half that if he could wire up my mind to the tv, we would never need another porn movie. I love Opal Carew, very tasteful, great storylines and detailed sex scenes. Mark Slade is also a favourite. Is Fifty Shades of Grey any good? I'm hearing mixed reviews and would love to hear what RHP members think of it Cheers X

My favourite Jane Austen novel <3I'm so anti 50 Shades it pains me to think people would think it's how BDSM really works. I must admit I'm a sucker for paranormal fiction, especially the Hollows/Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison with a kick-ass heroine and the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward with huge vamps that could rip your heart out and eat it before your corpse hit the ground. *sigh*xx Sarah

I've been trying to craft a witty response to this, but no matter what I write, it just sounds narky. So I'll leave it with an expression of amazement, a 'different strokes for different folks' platitude, and a sly remark that I think Trump is very lucky to have a woman like you hold him in that regard!Trump's biography: not be in my must-read list!

While I do on occasion read erotic literature, there aren't any specific books that get me in the mood.Books that I just *love*?Raymond Feist's Midkemia series. Melanie Rawn's Sunrunner books.Books set in the Tortall universe by Tamora Pierce.Anything written by Anne McCaffrey, James Herriot, Enid Blyton, Dick Francis, Helen MacInnes - I grew up reading these authors and will often reread their books for comfort. When I am reading non-fiction I prefer essays to novels, and enjoy philosophy, physics, politics, journalism etc.Cheers,MS

Quoting 'PrudishNympho' Leather bound. Worked in a library so.... Leather bound vintage books and whisky have a negative effect on my panties' ability to stay up. That would have made working hard... and fueled every librarian fantasy I've ever had!Quoting ' MS_and_Geek 'Raymond Feist's Midkemia series.I was just thinking about these the other day actually. Incredible series, incredibly ripe for a big screen adaptation - circumvents the whole "what do we do when the actors get too old/start asking for too much?" problem. Just move on to the next story 50 years later!

There is something about a good book that is attractive. A book is a package be it soft or hard cover of information that gives the mind a good stimulation. I don't read erotica i actually prefer to write it and really enjoy creating a visual picture in the mind of the reader. It allows for mental and physical needs to explode at the readers choice and gives a sense of actually being there and taking in the surroundings and noises.

Oh wait, and now I'm remembering watching him on Q&A a few months back. *click*, pieces come together!*I really want to write Ron Swanson

I will be screaming, SCREAMING I say, at the bloody screen and all the actors who look wrong and sound wrong and ARUTHA DOESN'T WALK LIKE THAT YOU FUCKNUCKLE, HE'S A SWORDSMAN FFS!!!! *ahem* suffice to say, my signed copy of Magician is my most prized possession. :) (yup, hear the smug, I touched Raymond E. Feist :P) Notable mentions: (seconding votes submitted thus far) Richard Morgan, Pratchett, Donaldson, et al. Excellent scifi: John Scalzi, Julian May, Piers Anthony. Excellent paranormal: Patricia Briggs, Jim Butcher. Excellent fantasy: fuck, too long a list. For very good erotic fantasy, read Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's series. Pisses on 50 shades and Laurell K Hamilton. Current read? A series that pisstakes classic fairytales. Bedamned if I can recall the author or series name... Just started book three, Red Hood's Revenge, little red riding hood is all grown up and a professional assassin ;) lol. They are surprisingly good fluff :)

Over the last few weeks, I've been helping to read 'The Hobbit' and 'Lord of the Rings' to my nephew as he lay in a deep coma. The larger work, in a thinner volume was an older production, on rice paper thin pages, woodblock printed illustrations and dark red hard cover. It had been his favourite books during his teen years and, with our tag-team bedside vigil, the next bedside visitor continued where the last one had left off. I realised that I hadn't read out aloud for over fifteen years, not since my own children were younger. Although it was slower going than speed reading and flipping through the pages, it brought the story into the room and the characters with us by giving them a vocal presence.Sadly, we did not finish the reading of the three-part tome. I know that in the years to come these books and the memory of them will be entwined with the memories I now hold dear of this young man. Rox

Who's have thought there was a bunch of role players on RHP.. LOL..Maybe I should read this series? Does Fiest write to let the reader discover for them selves. You know, with colour and metaphore.. Or does he think you are a fool and just tell you everything strait up like bloody Follett?
