False Advertising Disappointment

August 06 2021

What is your opinion on the age of peoples photos? I believe no photo should be displayed if it is more than 12 months old from the day it was taken. I’ve seen an increasing number of male profiles with years-old photos. Note:- I only look at male profiles. You start chatting to them, they start sending you photos and arrrr they look nothing like their profile photos. Don’t even get me started on filters.

I agree. Current face pics, less than a year old, are what should be up there. I change mine every now and again. I sure as hell have changed since I joined 7 years ago ..... what you see is what you get. Just be honest.

Yeh it's true Not just males though. Couples , females The first pic is always old when they were 10 yrs younger They're age says 30 Pg open? Obviously in their 50s and 15 kgs overweight compared to their first pic lol

100% agree!! If it’s not recent then what’s the point?!

I agree, images should be recent and representative. The other item we've found confusing is people having pics that are clearly older than their stated ages. When we first joined we thought we may have to knock 5yrs off our ages to match expectations. (We didn't) OTOH - we're both very good with a camera (lighting, posing etc), so our pics are probably better than we are IRL. - Alex.

*rushes off to update photos* 😂 mine are probably 2 years old but I like to think I’m ageing well and can get away with it for another 6 months or so, haha. I like my face more now though, people are quite stunning as they age I think, lines and all, we show our souls in the lines on our faces...

The old catfish trick... makes no sense. Quite annoying to have time wasted by people who clearly have misrepresented themselves, in the end it wastes everyone's time. Perhaps people get success with the old, 'fuckit, we're here - may as well...' Maybe I (mr) am not as forgiving as some, but a walkaway is always better than a walk of shame.

Definitely understand. Although, typically nothing at all happens in any following year since a new photo upload, so there's not a natural inclination to keep updating that regularly.

I’ve been caught out recently and it’s very frustrating. This is why I always do a meet & greet fist and make it clear that is all that it is. Still annoying though as I took time off work, costing me money. Lesson learnt and I now check how old photos are!

We totally agree with this and have only recently removed our old photos not long ago for this same reason. However one thing that comes to mind what are your thoughts on ladies with their makeup? Some people can do themselves up to look completely different to what they do without any makeup on. Is this a similar thing? Just putting it out there😁

Having been here for a number of years now I know there are male and female profiles that have the same pics from the first day I joined 🙄 mine are all recently taken as I know I’ve changed, face and body.

Good point Mkycouple. I have photos up of me with and without make up. I love wearing make up, though, but each to their own. I donth think guys really care one way or the other?

The world is full of it, false advertising that is. Age of photos is one trick but a bit of photographic skill can take 10-20+ years off anyone anyway. What about those damn push up bras, worst case of false advertising ever, maybe I should get myself a six pack padded tshirt and join the club? Then there’s those false personality people who profess they are easy going but are absolute nightmares or say they value a deeper connection and get excited with all your sexy photos but block you as soon as you send an everyday one without makeup! The most fun we have had in real life has always come from meeting people who don’t want to see many photos. Sure there’s plenty of people here that we fantasise would be as hot in real life as their stunning photos but we have found that rarely the case. We have found the less photos exchanged the more conversation needs to take the fore and we get to know each other before the meet and more successful any meet will be. The ones that see Mrs S’s sexy photo shoot and want to meet and fuck based on that alone…pass!

If I take a picture on a Sunday after a relaxing sleep in, then a shower and spruce up, I might look 5 years younger than I am. If I take a picture straight after work, I'll look 5 years older :p

I like the ones who have their age written in the profile blurb and the age that is current is 5-10 years later and you know… those pics are the originals.

When meeting someone in person and you can't recognise them. Completely wrong picture and reality. Report profile to RHP? That wouldn't end up well

No issue with their pic being a couple of years old, had an awkward experience when then pic and message exchange led to a hook up and the pics were clearly 40kg old 🤣

Photos should be current. I kind of get cautious when people post really old photos of themselves. It means they're not comfortable with who they are now.
