Female Eunuch

November 10 2019

I recently had my ovaries removed. I would be interested to hear from any people who have gone through similar either personally or with partners. How have they coped especially in the bedroom department. I wont be taking any hormone replacements. At the moment libido still intact but early days. Currently do not have a partner. And how freaked out are people with large abdominal scars cos I have a ripper now !

Firstly all the best with your healing and I hope you are OK. I have not had ovaries removed but I have been doing a lot of research on menopause. I would recommend Christines Northrups book Wisdom of Menopause. One thing that keeps popping up in my research is that when ovaries stop working the adrenals have to take on the brunt of hormone production. So for optimum health its very important to support your health through nutrition, exercise and stress reduction is super important. So far I have managed to stop all my symptoms of peri menopause through food, meditation, yoga, exercise and herbal remedies. I feel better than I ever have. Some recommended people to look into are Deborah MurtaghJudy HinojosaSuyogi GessnerSusan BrattonAnna CabecaElena Bensonoff I wouldn't worry about how other people perceive your scar its how you feel about it that matters. Send it love because your body is amazing. All the best x

I have seen scars from C Sections, boob jobs, tummy tucks at parties etc. They all belong to real people( great people). I can’t help you with the rest of it but I can tell you not to worry about your scar. No one is going to freak out or be scared off from it. Hope the healing goes well. Earth Queen is on the ball with some great ideas. Mr Luvsilver

They're just scars. We've all got them. C-sections, spinal surgery, #ankles repairs, ovarian surgeries. No one really cares about scars .... they all have a story👍🏻

All power to you FemaleEunuch The main thing is now that you are well and hopefully free from the health issues or potential health issues that caused you to have your ovaries removed (oophrectomy). I hope you stay well now. I would suggest, if medical staff haven't already, that looking after your bone strength now is really important. Oestrogen production from your ovaries is cancelled and, whilst the your kidneys still continue to produce some of this hormone, it is not pre-menopausal levels. This means that all menopausal women are at risk of osteoporosis which, especially in old age, can easily give rise to bone fractures, particularly hip fractures. I would suggest you look at talking to your doctor or doing some research about calcium and vitamin D supplements (vitamin D assists with the absorption of calcium in the body). Any others symptoms you might encounter can certainly be managed with a positive mindset and outlook and good nutrition and I exercise. Earth Queen made some excellent suggestions too. Also, who doesn't have a scar or two? Stay well and happy and strong and good luck.

Female eunuch Firstly remember we all have scars some are visible and others lay deep within . Our scars make us who we are today . As others have said you are truly beautiful , scars included . I’ve had a cesarean section and it’s part of who I am . It’s those of us out there that don’t acknowledge the scars and those that don’t deal with them that are the concern . You have bravely asked for guidance and advice . As earth queen stated - diet , exercise and a healthy lifestyle are of great benefit . I’ve worked with a naturopath / acupuncturist for the past 12 years . Acupuncture eradicated all my menopausal symptoms . If I can say since menopause sometimes added lubrication is needed , even when you feel aroused. I recommend Almond oil . Wishing you good luck in your journey . May this be a minor bump in the road . Wishing you peace , good health and happiness.

So far i have not had any menopausal symptoms (but only 10 weeks post op) and surgical menopause is meant to be way more brutal than natural. Many woman claiming they crash and burn straight out of surgery. Thanks for the references they sound awesome I will take a look. You definitely need to tackle it holistically.

As mentioned before, we all have scars. That would not worry me. You look like a amazing person anyway. Now, tell me, how are you? Would be happy to catch up for a coffee and a chat. (And offer you my ear/shoulder) All the best in your journey.

I had an abdominal hysterectomy just over 12 months go! The scar I have isn’t pretty ( it has been cut over 3 times). It’s apart of who I am and if ppl don’t like it, that isn’t my problem- it is their’s. Be proud of you and your body ❤️

A hysterectomy with a bikini cut and now ovaries out that was a long vertical cut. You are right that is not your problem if people dont like our scars. My recent one is still pretty raw looking it will fade but it wont completely disappear like the other one almost did. It tells a story. It is a good way to determine the personality of a potential partner if they freak over something like a scar then they are probably not going to be the type of person i will be attracted to anyway. Hope you are feeling totally recovered from your surgery now xxx.

Unfortunately weights alone won’t be enough, bodybuilders who overuse AIs and drop their estrogen levels too low over time will thin out their bones. Our bodies need the right balance of hormones for countless various processes and functions so finding the right Dr who has this specific knowledge (not all endos understand this so don’t accept the first one you see) to help you tincturate the right dose for you, monitor you and help with fine tuning. Just like a diabetic needs to add insulin if their pancreas is no longer making enough, there is nothing wrong with providing your body with the hormones that naturally would be present. If you’re ok with it I can send you a link to a 2017 research paper from the journal of endocrinology which was straight forward and gave the latest on various treatments. I also know of a Dr (UK & Australian) who has a specific interest in estrogen and its effects. He has a brief profile on his career and information so you can see if he’s of interest. Let me know and I’ll send pm the details. I’m just a believer in knowledge is power and gain that knowledge is part of the journey. All the best and I wish you a speedy physical healing so you can shake off the cabin fever and get back to enjoying life once more.

Thanks would love the information you have yes knowledge is the key. I have already proved some doctors wrong. There is alot of misinformation out there. And its alot more complex than popping a few pills.
