Fluffy green slippers...

November 08 2011

After a long day at work.. there are some creature comforts I love coming home to (no, I'm not talking the cat here..although, I do love you my little moggie friend xx). For me, it's my fluffy green slippers. After hoofing around in heels all day (look great, damn uncomfortable after 9 hours), I love nothing better than to slip into them (the slippers NOT the cat) and let their soothing softness ease away the toil of the day. Next, I am reaching for my chai latte - love, love, love the stuff and it's mix of spices. As the heat of it enters my body...the stresses and struggles of everyday life just seem to melt away.So tell me, what little ritual(s) and or creature comforts help you to make the switch between a busy day out..and the relaxation of home.

It is putting the workout gear on and riding the stationary bike for an hour before and after work...forgotten how good it is to release those feel good endorphins....even after standing and walking around all day, working on a cement floor for 9 hours...I am still in the mood for it...great for really bad moods...but then so is a bottle of Red...which is what I slip into on a Friday night...

Usual things: Meal, or Gym, Music, Perhaps a book, Solo and always clean teeth, a hot shower, dry and dry off, laying on the bednaked. Relaxed. Temperature controlled. So nice to switch off phonr - a mini digital detox. mmm

These days my work follows me home and lives with me. LOL. But back in the days it was always a shower...Wash away not so much as the failures, just the grime and the dirt of the work day...followed by an ice cold beer or glass of wine.

I have my nightly routine and dont feel right if I havent done it. I dont sleep well (probably out of guilt lol)   I get home from work, cook dinner, eat, kiss the kids goodbye (again!) and go to the gym. Come home, check the kids are tucked in, give them another kiss, then go for an hour walk. Once I am home from that its a long hot shower, then the girly beauty rituals that come after that, make sure phone is on charge and off silent, iphone music for half an hour laying in bed then finally sleep.   I would love half an hour when I get home to just sit and relax but there is no way in hell that is happening til the bloody kids move out!

Hey Wow, don't diss the slippers hun - they accept me when I'm fat, pre-menstrual, dateless on a Saturday night and seedy on a Sunday morning lol. You're right Chilli - Wow fucking those slippers would be like my best gf sleeping with that hot guy I met at the bar last night and then claiming bragging rights.... just sooooooooooooo wrong.
