I find it weird when you get a request with no message or even follow up. I thought it was normal when I first joined. And then you find yourself on their hot list. Some people just seem to be in a contest to see who can collect the most names. Most friends list, including mine are a random collection of weird names and even weirder(?)photos. Perhaps we should be forced to host a party and invite all those on your friends list. If that' was the case I'd be having a spring clean so I'm not hosting Freak show ll.

He who has the most friends when he dies wins perhaps A lot of people on here seem to be just friend or pic collectors. I ignore the friend requests from people I've never heard of or spoken to. If I've chatted to someone I usually explain to them that I've actually met and like all of my friends so I prefer to wait until we've met before I add them. I suppose the only benefit (if you could call it that) of being on friends lists is more profile views therefore possibly more messages, but then again who is going to trawl through someones friends when they have hundreds.

Some members have said some (non-paying) members send friend requests to stand out from all the the flirts, but I don't know if that's true. I must admit I just assume those people want to add to their friends list to make themselves look more appealing to others. Most days I get a friend request a day from someone I've never spoken to, and they get deleted instantly. My friends list consists of only those people I've met in real life and I really like. Thank you, friends.

That some people collect random friends to make their profiles seem more credible, given how hard it is to stand out from the crowd here.

but I have maybe only added one or 2 myself and the rest have asked to be my friend. I don't know why I do it and I don't know why they ask, I don't really care, if they feel the need to add me then who am I to argue, lol. What I do find bizarre are the ones who confront you about adding them when you tell them you are not interested in anything else with them. They say, why would you add someone to your friends list then? So I ask, why would you just ask a stranger to be your friend before you have even communicated with them??

Yep, it's weird all right.... Most on my friend list I have met or have had extensive communication with. I don't expect friends request of people I've had nothing to do with...💋

if you delete a friend, if there is a notification at their end or do just disappear off their list? Going quietly would be nice.

from people who don't make contact in any other way - it's weird. I only have a few friends and with one exception they are all people I've met in person. The main reason for the add is so I get notifications when they put up a new photo or comment on a post. It helps me stay in touch. That's also the reason why I don't add anyone I don't know. I don't want my newsfeed to be full of crap.

Me - because I only have 6 friends and the forum topics I follow on it, therefore it's a useful function of the website. If I had 100 friends I probably wouldn't read mine either. - Posted from rhpmobile

A friend of mine in here had a conversation with one of the more prominent collectors.... who sent her a friend request the day she joined. She asked him why he sends so many requests, and given his location is quite distant from many of his "friends", what does he get out of it.? He said the women in here sent HIM all those requests. Uh huh, of course they did LOL - Posted from rhpmobile

I don't get it? I get friend request and think wtf? I don't know you and we haven't met or spoken? I had to write it on my profile that I just don't accept request without meeting or knowing you. Ralf you're a dag lmao ha ha ha.

I accepted a few friend requests to be polite and then got hauled over the coals by some guy because apparently my friends were 'weirdos' don't do friends anymore. It's a silly useless part of this site 😴 - Posted from rhpmobile

Must only be guys that spam the add friend link. How can someone ask to be your friend even before saying hi. I have had 2 requests from single guys and I have put straight on my profile

Had a random friend request from a guy. Sent a message out of curiosity but more so because it was a slow day at the forum. I said you have a lovely collection of friends, 6 women and 2 tvs. He replied yes they all seem nice but can't chat to them. He'd only been here a week and didn't know how the site worked so he presumed that was the way to meet. Send friend requests. But left scratching his head when none of his "friends" would chat to him. Sorted him out but makes you wonder about friend collectors

Haha, he must of thought it worked like facebook. Poor pet. But at least he had 6 random ppl who accepted his friend requests. Dont know why they do that.

Maybe it's a way for non paying members to get someone's attention rather than sending a flirt or whatever? In any event, I don't do the "friend" thing (regardless of whether I've met them or not) as I just feel that is a private matter and not for general viewing. Trouble is that I am not currently paid up myself so I can't send messages to that effect to those who have sent such requests to me (other than post an explanation on the forums.... which of course I would never do!). the strategy of getting attention of either sending a flirt and even a friend request, especially if you were new here and unsure of how things work here. I just can't understand the need to collect friends for the sake of having so many. Some have hundreds. I guess those that have these huge collections aren't going to post the 'whys' and' therefores'. Maybe an insecurity thing but they aren't going to announce that here and perhaps they don't even know they are? And why would someone want to be a wallflower of such a collection. Being in a smaller collection, it at least has some signicance of being recognised by the owner.

We only accept friends requests from people we have actually chatted with our exchanged messages with and would be interested in more. Friends requests from people we have never even message with simply get ignored - Posted from rhpmobile

If you post an event it comes up in everyones feed. Does it really matter if some one has 1 friend or a thousand? I mean really....does it? Does it matter how many pairs shoes you have or pretty sets of underwear. Not really. - Posted from rhpmobile

Im talking random collectors. People that have collected and never chatted to the vast majority on their list and ultimately have no desire to do so. In that regard it is doubtful that if they post an event that they would want these members of their collection to turn up. Shoes I wear. Nice to be able choose size of heel. Colour. Underwear. Same. Different style, different occasion. They all get worn. Does it matter 1 friend or 1000? Not to me. But like a lot of shit on here, doesn't matter much but it's nice to understand reasons. Gives us something to bang on about.....

I am from the west...and yes, what is a smudge smasher?? Lol...very tempted to send everyone here a friend request... :) my friends list is short and personal. I have had quite a few random friend requests so I wrote it into my profile. No requests since then and my flirts have been reduced to almost nothing yay :) guess some people do actually read profiles xx

Sent messages, requests... nothing. I'm doing it wrong? Maybe I'm too heavy handed? I'm good at intimacy and all that, but breaking the ice is just not my thing. Perhaps one day I'll be noticed lol

Quoting 'inspirit' Does it really matter if some one has 1 friend or a thousand? I mean really....does it? Having several dozens of friends to me is like having a preferred age range of 18-99: It kinda screams "I'm really not discerning" to me, which personally I find a turn-off.

And random friend requests shit me....I don't accept them on fb either. I like the people on my friends list and sometimes I housekeep it....some have left the site and moved on. Friend collecting seems a little desperate/presumptuous to me (shrugs) ah well it probably helps some if people think they have friends and they are people they've met. Imaginary friends can be helpful too....walks away chatting to my mop Bethany

Some people have been on here for over 10 years. One of my friends has 450+ people in their list. Do I think any less of them - No. In the event you host an event and a successful one it does not matter. Let's say some sees an event you posted and they have over 1000 friends on their list.... would you still shun them? I am not having a go Annie, I am just sayin........

Newbies here, we will only add friends once we meet and only if we would like to catch up again. If we have no intention of further contact, why bother. We are guilty of judging people in part by their friends list so why would we add people we can't vouch for ourselves!! we have received many requests with I contact. Yes, it's weird :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I got a friend request from a couple using a pic of Jesinta Campbell and Buddy Franklin. Not their smartest move. ;-)
