  I have a gay female couple who live next to me and I am great friends with them. One is more mannish than the other. walking back from the beach the other day one was saying there are all kinds lipstick dykes, bike dikes, bull dykes you name it   Same for different type of men I guess Its the same as being attracted to a guy, as in the office guy, the biker guy, the fireman guy the tradie funny how we describe a guy by what he does for a living. May be its from our days of the hunter guy I like my guys some where in the middle of executive and tradie though I lean to tradie as I like guys that can fix things and do not have to pay someone to do it. My partner now can fix everything, dives for our food and never gets his panties in a twist, stays calm but then he was a fireman and in the army. So I would describe him as an alpha male. I guess it depends on what you are after in anyone, if its just sex or a partner no matter what the gender.

  I was just talking to a guy off here about this very topic last night. After observing my homosexual friends and their partners, as well as the people I see outside, my deductions are:   With couples you always have one partner that holds the 'masculine' role, and the other the more 'feminine role' in the relationship.   The girls that are more butch (short hair, etc, the swagger, the lesbian 'stereotype'), are usually the people who hold the masculine role in the relationship.   The guys that are more flamboyant (the higher-pitched voice, nice hair, gay 'stereotype'), are usually the people who hold the feminine role in the relationship.   And then you've got the homosexual men who act like heterosexual men and the homosexual women who act like heteosexual women and it confuses the hell out of people who hit on them and think they're straight :/

  It might be a personality match, or a kink match, or just that they're into girls rather than guys, but still want to feel like the "girly" one, protected by someone big and strong?Just a guess

  Whether its a male or female we are attracted to, often it is someone who reminds us of ourselves....a little narcissistic,? perhaps. But often it is as CityCat says. someone who fulfills the opposite role.....humans are complex and complicated...perhaps op you are attracted to women who are similar to you because your husband fulfills the other role and you arent looking for that in a woman....for now

  It's lesbian central around our place and we see all types.The butch looking girls are usually with butch looking girls, the hot chicks are usually with hot chicks, and the fat chicks are usually with fat chicks...Bestlifeeva I'm guessing you probably go for girls a little like yourself too.If I was going to have sex with a man though, he would need to look a LOT like a woman :)Mr C

  I am attracted to women that are similar to look in me. Now I am not sure I would call this narcissistic, possibly more of an insecurity? If they are similar in look to me then they are not challenging my perception of what is attractive.Some men I think are attracted to men that are less masculine than them because they are not comfortable with their sexuality and feel the need uphold the traits they feel make them a man. Strength, domination, etc.of course I can only speak for what I have seen and some of the people I have known. I think it depends ultimately in what the individual is looking for in a partner and what need/s you are looking fulfill. You may find that the type of person you are attracted to for play and casual sex is very different to the type of person you are attracted to for a long term relationship.xxSalina
