Three big things I am grateful for are. My mothers care and support. Close friends. And just that I am lucky enough to live in a country where opportunity exists. Nice follow up to the other post topics mentioned Jaycee

I have had two operations in nines months due to accidents. Complications with both operations has made things even more frustrating and although I'm about 90 percent mended now, Im still not 100 percent right although I am on first name terms with my physio (yummy as) So the first thing I would have to say is good health - because when your helpless and immobile, you are sooooooooooo dependant on others for the smallest things. I never thought washing my hair or trying to butter bread would be a major and painful drama, but it was . So Im grateful that apart from the fact that I'm clumsy as, resulting in serious injuries, I am in good health Next would have to be my bestie. I have the worlds best bestie. Cannot fault her. We have been friends for like forever and she is the light in my life. Love her to death and I would take a bullet for her. Awesome is her middle name I'm grateful for the country I live in. Sure its not perfect and there are issues. Many issues. But we are not a country at war. We aren't being bombed or invaded. We aren't without fresh food and water. We aren't wondering (most of us) where our next meal is coming from. We aren't a country subjected to constant fear. I'm grateful for what we have as a nation, not what we don't have. and yep even though my life isn't as honky dory as I would like it to be (whose is ?) I'm grateful to be breathing cause the alternative is so much worse. Yup doing ok.

There are many things that I'm grateful for OP, but these 3 are at the top of my list: My son - he's an amazing person & I am so incredibly proud of him. My friends - they're a varied bunch of individuals who make me feel better when I'm down, tell me to pull my head when I need to be told, they make me laugh, smile, think, question things, challenge my opinions and best of all, have supported me when I most need it. My job. Sure there are days when I'm resentful of how it cuts into my home life and can restrict my availability etc. But overall I love it. I work with amazing people, and I'm constantly being given new challenges and opportunities, so I'm always learning. We spend so much time at work and I can only imagine how awful it would be to not like your job, but to still have to get up and face it every day. I think there are lots of people who are in that situation, so I'm truly grateful that I love what I do. Much love, Elle xx

That I have some food in my fridge, clothes on my back a roof over my head and a warm and dry place to sleep unlike the 75% of the worlds population that are not fortunate enough to share in these blessings. I am blessed and show gratitude that I have never expereinced the horror of war or battle or the agony of imprisonment, detention or torture unlike some 500 million that suffer through these experiences. I am grateful that I have been lucky enough to learn to read and write through an education system which empowers my potential unlike some 3 billion people worldwide who have been denied this opportunity. (Inspired by a popular image from the internet that some of you may have seen - it doesn't have a specific name and I am unable to link you all to it, but if you search one of these sentiments you should be able to find it). ~KK x

Three things on my list: My two rescue dogs. I made their lives better, but they've done so much more for mine. My amazing job where I get to make people's day a little brighter. My friend's successful mastectomy last week. Life is good. :-)

feeling incredibly grateful, so this is a timely post Jaycee. My kids - They are the most wonderful people and I'm so proud of them. Where I live - I'm 5 minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and we had most of it completely to ourselves today. I also adore Perth as a city, I really love living here. My health - I am fit and healthy. I can run, swim, jump, climb and lift heavy things and I'm starting to realise that a lot of people my age are losing those abilities.

My children and there ability to just make it all worthwhile. The great network if neighbours I have here in my humble home. My bitch the biggest bitch I've ever know :) her name is bella she's great for listening, she is always by my side no matter what, stinks badly at times but :) yes she's a big mastiff bitch... This week I had a shocker of bad timing. Monday had job interview for the perfect position :)) would have been a breeze, woke up with bad cold and could hardly talk. Still I went but appears to have screwed it up. Tuesday helped at local school with cementing only to have it lies down with rain right after final float. Wednesday cut fingers on saw whilst doing kitchen cabinets :(( Thursday influx of bills grrr Friday we'll didn't move much so not much happened lol.. But all above was made to feel liek nothing thanks to my children, neighbours and my big bitch bella :)))

I spent today with a group of amazing people..one friend is 85 and a peace activist, another works with indigenous communities in education, another works for the International Red Cross and has just come back from Nigeria, two are. Residents of Crystal Waters and academics, lecturing in English and philosophy, three others an artist and her three middle aged sons..all actively involved in the local community and environmental issues..the conversation was definitely of the elevated variety and even included a vigorous debate regarding Hobbes and Thoreau...How lucky am I to know such amazing people ..I have lead a privileged life..I have done whatever I have wanted to do,..I have wonderful daughter, supportive friends,a great work liesure balance and like KIS,I live in a beautiful part of the world ...for all these blessings I am more than grateful xxFreya

For christmas last year, a friend gave me a happiness jar. This is a large glass jar with a notepad and pen.for 12 months, every time something good happens I am to write the good things down and pop it in the jar, and open it on new yrs eve and read through all the positive things that happened during the year. Will be nice reading back over the year. 😄

Now I know I have already posted but just wished to share a story of my morning. I woke early and the morning was beckoning so I took an early stroll to sit for coffee and a banana muffin in town. As I was strolling I was wishing I had someone by my side to enjoy the beautiful morning and to share breakfast with. I then pass the homeless fellow who lives in the alcove of an abandoned factory catching the first rays of sunshine for warmth, further along I run into one of the several under privileged guys I often chat to and help out on occasion if I can, he suffers from fairly severe schizophrenia. He flashed a wad of cash at me with a sad smile, told me he won on a trifecta but I knew it would be gone by the end of the day lost on his horses. Nothing in his life but the TAB. How good do some of us have it. My life isn't fantastic at times but I wake up every morning in a comfortable bed to breakfast in my own house. So let us all be grateful for what we actually have. Cheers

Reading through the lists. It's nice to be reminded of things to be grateful for. I can somewhat identify with the pain factor Twinkes. Due to a problem hip, I have to ask my daughter to help dry me when I get out of the shower, amongst other things. She is amazing.

my rats have given me many hours of solace. I miss them but am grateful they were in my life. Pets teach us much about the value of life. I am so glad your friends mastectomy went well, Meander.

You are blessed, and from what I have read of your posts, deservedly so! And Willowtree, my friend did a similar thing. She filled a jar with gratitude quotes and read one every morning for a year. I like your idea, might pinch it :) xx

This is the first year in 23 years that I haven't had not one of my gorgeous children with me at Easter, it is those 5 remarkable people that I am most grateful for. I'm grateful I was blessed to be mother and truly thankful for the things they have taught me over the years.....I'm also grateful for the people in my life that except and love me flaws and all and I'm grateful for my life, because that is the biggest gift at all..... Willow the happiness jar is a fantastic idea.....💋

Quoting Shells "I sometimes get caught up in things and take my family for granted. Thinking about what I don't have instead I what I do have." Yes, it is easy to do. I get so bogged down in all the stress and hum drum of life that I forget to stop and appreciate the simple things in life. A friend recently commented 'take time to see colours J'. I knew what meant. It was good advice and good timing. Friends and family play a huge role in my life.
