Guest lists.... Why don't people rsvp?

December 22 2014

Hi all,After a few meets with other couples that didnt result in playing, we tried a party. We got stood up by the couple we were supposed to meet and with slim pickings on the night we didnt find anyone we were interested in. We've decided the parties are the way to go for us despite that and have been keeping an eye on the "event" section. But no one seems to put their name on the guest list, and we've been trying to use it to decide where to go.... Why don't people rsvp to the parties? It could be a handy tool deciding whether or not to attend ourselves....

We're hosting a pool party in January which is listed in the events section and are having more of a problem getting those who have rsvped to actually commit to coming so we can finalise the guest list. Seems everyone wants to leave it til the last minute so, like you, they can see who isactually attending before commiting themselves. I'm happy to have a smaller party than anticipated cos those who have commited are fun people we already know, but it frustrating lol.

It's the same situation when it comes to the meet and greet nights. You can have 100 register and even after a confirmation message still be lucky to have 30 actually show. With the parties I think a lot of people maybe do what you do .... Hold off on putting their name down so as to first gauge who is going ... Problem though it's like a stalemate with everyone sitting back waiting!! - Posted from rhpmobile

Of having 'maybe' and 'definitely' could work better....... As there is no cost to them, people put their names down and then can keep track of what is available and decide on the night what they would be interested in.

One of the problems with RSVP-ing to events on RHP is that once you've said yes, you can't take it back. You can't add a comment after responding either, so if something came up you wouldn't be able to explain yourself, and people could think you're unreliable. I think it would be quite easy to fix both these things, and it might make people more confident putting their name down (as well as give more accurate numbers). RHP, did you get that? As for me, I don't like making plans in advance, as once I make them I don't break them, and I would rather decide on the day what I felt like. * *With the obvious exception of Sydney's Meet and Greet next month!

We are usually late to respond, but once we commit we attend. But let's face it, ultimately on the day you have to be in the mood, so that's why we commit latish. Occasionally the red tide is unexpectedly in and a last minute cancelation is required.
