In 1980 I was in Waterford Ireland on Halloween some kids came knocking for the trick or treat and were given treats. After they left I asked why were they into that American crap...Of course everybody knows Halloween has its origins in Ireland

Sadly. that means I must don dress, wear girl shoes and make up. I'd rather be a vampire....

Halloween is a big night in the US for kids and adults. Kids get the candy and adults go to bars or friends houses for parties. No One rents or buys costumes, they make their own and most are very creative. Bars offer prizes for best costumes, prizes in range from $100- $1,000+. Make your own costumes and show how creative you can be! I've been to some great adult Halloween parties so enjoy.

Do what I do, put a sign on the door that says "Don't Bother " works well. I hate the little darlings expecting me to give them lollies, so I offer them fruit lol. - Posted from rhpmobile

Pity we've lost our Australian rituals... What happened to bonfire night and cracker night... I worked in a chocolate company about 15 years ago. I remember the Marketing manager telling me that Halloween would be the next big thing in chocolate sales..... So Halloween in Australia is just a marketing exercise to sell more chocolate etc. It really has little cultural significance here....

Quoting 'Meander' Sexy? No. Dirty? Very. OMG, that's probably the scariest thing I can think of! Even now I watch 'The Ring' and look between closed fingers glancing up with full lights on! Are you having a house party or heading out somewhere Meander?

When I posted this topic I completely misjudged the number of birthday suits out there! And to "mysweetstick" being cheeky but I don't think anyone will be wearing the same as you...birthday suit being pretty customised to ones own body and all that....

Quoting 'joder181' Pity we've lost our Australian rituals... What happened to bonfire night and cracker night... I worked in a chocolate company about 15 years ago. I remember the Marketing manager telling me that Halloween would be the next big thing in chocolate sales..... So Halloween in Australia is just a marketing exercise to sell more chocolate etc. It really has little cultural significance here.... the only time I remember Halloween being big here was when I lived on the RAAF base as a child, lots of US ex-pats, a gated environment so very few cars plus lots of young families we would have great Halloween costumes, bonfire nights and fire-cracker nights... Now if I do anything it'll just be cause it's fun to fire up the 3D printer and build you own Imperial Guard outfit

We're getting our faces painted day of the dead style and wearing mexican outfits to go with them...I usually manage to scare people off anyhow so no need to worry bout the makeup coming off.

Quoting 'Meander' Looking at your pic you'd make a marvelous John-Hurt-with-Alien-baby-coming-out-of-his-stomach! Perhaps that's why I opted to go in my birthday suit Some may think I'm just crude and strange being nude at a dress up party, but there will be the odd intellect who will see my John Hurt costume and smile in recognition

I'm not the biggest fan of spoofing other ethnic groups, Mr 3some, I'll stick with the imaginary ones. (Once zombies become a reality and take offense I'll stop of course).

I remember doing Guy Fawkes, all the kids in the street would collect wood for weeks building the bonfire, old clothes stitched together for the Guy, was awesome fun. Then the govt killed it, and we celebrate American consumption instead stuffing our kids with "candy" Grrrrrrrr.

Wet Paint,it was awesome fun..ironically Guy Fawkes'day or cracker night, celebrated the failure of the Gun Powder Plot, the attempt on 5 th of November 1605 to kill James the first and blow up the houses of Parliament ..the bonfires ,the crackers, the burning Guy,sure it was risky but I don't remember anyone in our neighbourhood being hurt...it was a tradition that lasted for nearly 400 years..Now we have candy not crackers, shame xxFreya
