I am not a christian. The majority of people are not christians and yet here we are...all forced to celebrate this massive commercialised day just because. Because why? Tradition? And dont tell me we dont HAVE to celebrate. Look at all the commercial hype leading up to it, the fact that businesses are closed on that partiicular day. Schools have craft, lessons and many things centered around christmas so our kids are indoctrinated from an early age. Not bad enough that many things close for a fricken' horse race ..... way too much!

Call me Scrooge (Im Jewish so I dont care) but this is what I would love to see happen. I work one day a week in a voluntary capacity for a non profit charitable organisation . This organisation like every other one in Australia is struggling for funding for medical research, the offering of services and respite to families in crisis/medical situations.....funding is cut to the bone...and we rely heavily on bequests, donations and voluteers to help out etc.   We as a society spend a fortune on Xmas, denying ourselves or the people we love nothing - lets face it ..all year if we want something - Ipad, Kindle, boat, bigger plasma, we buy it..thats fine...you work hard, you deserve it (but how many of us put it on the credit card and cant really afford it !!) and yes we need to spend to stimulate the economy..... but I would love to see just a portion of the money we spent on Xmas gifts go to non profit organisations - any organisation be it the Cancer Council, the Salvos whoever..just 10 percent ...because you never know, a day may come when you may requires their services...   I must admit I do like the time off side of it..however as a American and I cant understand how Australia's economy can afford so many public holidays thru out the year !!! - I guess that is why you are the "Lucky Country "!!!

Yummy meals served that I didn't have to cook, entertainment laid on, no housework, beautiful tropical destination, snorkelling in crystal clear water, duty free shopping, nicely appointed stateroom, wonderful views....the list in endless but I think you get the idea.

to go back to my mother's homeland (spain) and have some andaluscian beauty at my side. feverishly attending to eachothers wants and needs. hang about, that was last year's holiday. mmmmmideally, there would be nothing more exhilirating that chasing my two offspring around some inane theme park in gold coast, waitng in hot stinking lines for upto an hour to get on a ride i never want to get on, going to the beach, getting the once over from some delectable cougar and not being able to act on it then having to run the gauntlet of pissed 15 year olds as i fight for a table at a restaurant that i know the food will be crap, the service worse and the evening spent attending to the ablutions of two young boys cause by the very same restaurant. but on the plus side, no exwife will be there to bust em. hahahaheaven heaven heaven

I already live in paradise, I would like to stay at a 5 star hotel with my lover and stay in bed and make love whenever we wanted, order room service, drink champagne and be totally decadent and hedonistic.

anywhere the foods good, the company great, and the laughs plentiful........its a time to celebrate and love, and to share with the ones you care about.....luckily for us, thats about 2 dozen close family members....not our turn to host this year....but its going to be a sensational one just the same...........
