with a educational/fear campaign like the old Aids ad from the 80's with the grim reaper. There is an ad running here in Melbourne atm for herpes, so even my 10yo that apparently has 7 girlfriends knows that he doesn't have herpes because he doesn't have an itching or a burning sensation in his underpants! Maybe shift some focus onto the broad spectrum of infections that are around, advertise how quickly they are spreading and not only the use of condoms but what else people can do to be proactive about their sexual health.

To change their attitude towards contraceptives would go along way.

Bought these drops to put on your clit to make it extra sensitive. Maybe we could coat the inside of condoms with it, so men would want to wear them even when not with a partner.

Funny Jack ;-D . You read my mind Ralf. . Hmmm. Hypocrites, DG. . I can't think of anything better then the 'real thing' really. But in the interests of stretching my imagination... Sensation, sensation, sensation, my suggestion, add a product on the inside of the condom that acts something like viagra and intensifies sensations for both parties while the condom is being worn. Umimaginative, I'm afraid. Peachy

We just can't understand not using them. There is a considerable level of trust required to think about not using them. Anything closer than a condom is too close for us.

To me.... condoms are the default position for sex.... been years since I've been "partnered" and did without them. So making what is an essential more appealing, isn't really relevant. They're just the done thing. Others need to start thinking that way too. DG

Quoting 'Meander' Bought these drops to put on your clit to make it extra sensitive. Maybe we could coat the inside of condoms with it, so men would want to wear them even when not with a partner. I hadn't used them In 20 years. Man is there a difference in the sensation when you do use them, next to no sensation. Maybe because its been 20 years and I just need to get used to them damn things are tricky to put on

I'm not a man, (looks down checks for confirmation, yep, all good) so when it comes to penetration, honestly, I can't feel the difference. So I'm guessing the difference feel is a man thing and would be due to a warmth and moisture difference. Perhaps an interal warming lubricant would help. Also I understand different brands feel thicker or thinner and considering condoms have gone from cloth and leather to rubber, vast improvements have been made there. Maybe as polymer science improves, the condom thickness will improve too. As a woman the only difference I notice is if I feel irritated later and that is a brand/latex issue. Personally though, I love them, no fuss when you get the right one and technique and certainly no mess. Oh and watching him roll it on, mmmm.... Maybe improving the appeal lies in the education and more people advocating the benefits. ie disease control, birth control, wet patch control - Posted from rhpmobile

One counterintuitive thing might be in the education: when, really, could you be OK without one, versus "don't even think of not using it." I tend to be too conservative and use them too often. Yes, they do feel less connected for guys. One thing I notice is that when you wear a condom and your partner is getting more aroused, you can't feel the wetness as well. So maybe some better technology that improves that connection, whatever that might be. Think of this: if you put a condom on your tongue, how would it limit certain sensations?

Quoting 'Meander' Bought these drops to put on your clit to make it extra sensitive. Maybe we could coat the inside of condoms with it, so men would want to wear them even when not with a partner. a lube that heightens sensitivity on a man for use with condoms and masturbators/mastubating called 'on for men' there is also 'on for women' which are drops for the clitoris which is quite popular and also made from natural ingredients. They taste like shit though so you may not want to suck a cock or a clit after it has been used, big downside for most. Most of the products aimed at men are designed to delay orgasm to make them last longer so it is hard to find or even promote things that make them cum quicker.

Quoting 'Mischeviouslad' To me.... condoms are the default position for sex.... been years since I've been "partnered" and did without them. So making what is an essential more appealing, isn't really relevant. They're just the done thing. Others need to start thinking that way too. DG You - and most here - are approaching this from a purely western perspective. The places that are most in need of increased condom use - which also have the highest rates of new HIV infections - are very culturally and educationally different to Australia. There is also often a big difference in the status of women in those countries. As that article points out, in these countries women are often very reluctant to carry condoms like women in many western countries now do, because they will be looked down on by the men and assumed to be sex workers. The women have to very carefully negotiate condom use with partners and husbands because they simply don't have the status that women enjoy here, where a woman can - if she so wishes - say 'if it's not on it's not on. Men are still considered to be the 'boss' in many other countries and if they don't want to wear a condom, the woman has no say and also cannot refuse him on the basis of it (well she could but she'd be running the risk of personal injury or perhaps even death due to disobeying the man). Also, these countries are often poor and simply don't have the money for education about STIs and contraception that countries like Australia do. And the people themselves may be too poor to afford condoms. I realise that these cultural and gender issues are not ones that we can easily fix, but I just want to point out that the approaches and thinking we employ here are often not applicable to other places.

Quoting 'somethinew' I'm not a man, (looks down checks for confirmation, yep, all good) so when it comes to penetration, honestly, I can't feel the difference. So I'm guessing the difference feel is a man thing and would be due to a warmth and moisture difference. Perhaps an interal warming lubricant would help. It is mostly men who say the condoms decrease sensation for them, although I have to say I do notice a difference (although I guess that could be partly a psychological thing as well). Some men don't even like to see that there is something covering their cock when they are inside a woman, so they would like the material the condom is made of to be as invisible as possible. From the article: "One promising design, already available in some parts of the world, is the Pronto 4:Secs condom, its box decorated with racy Dick Traceyesque cartoons. 4:Secs, its name both a pun and the time it is supposed to take to put on, is a condom in a plastic applicator resembling a life preserver. “This is really cool,” said Ms. Deperthes, demonstrating how the applicator splits apart to allow the condom to be put on right-side up. And perhaps the most innovative new American-made product is the Origami condom, still in clinical trials. Its inventor, Danny Resnic, said he was motivated by his own experience when “a latex condom broke and I wound up with an H.I.V. diagnosis.” Years of experimenting led him to devise a condom with accordion-like pleats, loose to allow movement inside. Made of silicone, which is meant to feel more like skin, it “goes on in less than a second,” he said, and “there’s no wrong way to put it on.” Besides male condoms, which Origami calls “external condoms,” the company has a female version (an “internal condom”), and the first condoms for anal sex and oral sex, Mr. Resnic said."

How about an invisible code on condoms, which only becomes visible when it comes in contact with pussy juice or certain lubes? *Scan the code with your iPhone for the chance to win! One Jeep and a thousand Wii's to be won every month!*

Due to Mrs Luvsilver not able to use most standard types of contraception- (pill implants etc) and myself not yet had the snip we do use condoms between ourselves. I usually only put one on towards the end but certainly prefer the feel of nothing on.A few years ago on some overseas travel we did find it hard to actually purchase some condoms in the capitol . They were just not widely used there as it seems. Maybe going along the lines of what Luckdragon is saying. Mr Luvsilver

For men wearing a condom decreases the feeling dramatically but unless they are going to provide a clear sti report, I'm going to insist on them wearing one. Seriously you would have to be an idiot not to.Men, yes it's not as pleasurable but neither is having a sti.I find using a thinner condom helps and using a small amount of lube inside can help. Also there are some stimulating gels- just have to make sure these are compatible with condoms and don't break down the latex.Non latex condoms can be nicer feeling too.

Quoting 'Smilingwithfun' Perhaps better femidom's? Just a thought Not quite sure what you're referring to? Do you mean female condoms? Because if so there has been and is work going on with them but the ones they have come up with to date are logistically more difficult to use (not surprising when you consider the anatomical differences between a cock and a vagina), are prone to falling out, and hence are not very popular at all.
