God Freya you come up with the best subjects   For me - this is thought provoking   I was born in Sydney, Australia - by American parents...I returned to the US when I was 8 years old, (only to be teased for having a funny accent) but I dont recall much of my time in Australia   Over the years, due to dual citizenship and education opportunities, I kept returning back to Australia - somehow my life was entwined here, as I also kept marrying men who also had affinities/connections to Australia....   I work for a American based global company and this has seen me tread paths and live all over the world including Africa, Asia, Europe, and of course the US - home though was always New York..always in my heart..always my home base.   But then I lost both my parents and then my two sisters all within 16 months of each other......and that event..left me questioning where home really was.....I have a foster brother living in San Diego but I have no real affection for the place...and he never returns my emails ...gggrrr   So where is home ... ? mmmm...for me its where my heart is..............I strongly identify as being a US citizen however I have dual citizen ship with 3 other countries (Aust, UK and Israel l) so I carry 4 different passports for work... - handy when your in places like the Middle East and your US passport is no guarantee of safe passage...   My postal address says Perth...(how I got to this place Ill never know...) I am a gypsy by nature so I do roam and no dobut I will roam again when the time is rite... but my heart says at present..outback Australia with someone ....about as far away as Greenwich Village as one can be....yes home is where your heart is...:)

For me it's being around water. When life's dark side catches up with me I head out onto the water. Other than intense passionate sex , the best anti stress cure is to spend a night on a boat on the harbour. Just kick back looking at the city skyline and the stars above with the gentle sound of water lapping at the sides of the boat leaves you feeling so contented ahh love it- Posted from rhpmobile

I guess that is just another way of saying home is where the heart is. I lived in SE Asia for many years, in Melbourne and now in Perth. I am comfortable and feel at home at three of these places. It is due to having history there as well as people I know and love. Home is also a place where I have control over my life instead of at the mercy of someone else. There are many places around Australia and the world I like and want to visit again and again. However, it is not home. I always feel a sense of relief when coming 'home'.Funny how a place is home when there are other people. I guess humans were not meant to be islands.

I'm both a happy gypsy and a lost soul. A few years ago, in the arms of an incredible man, I knew home and I knew belonging - the first and only time in my life. Before that I was always searching for 'my people' and 'my place'. The closest I'd come was the sun, sand and ocean or some amazing travel adventure. Since then, even the things that used to give me a sense of peace and contentment in my heart no longer touch me. And so, now I search again. This time I know that belonging, home, is something from within not without. I'm just not quite sure how to find it.

I am the happiest when I am with her...we can be in the same room (at home), not even talk nor feel the need to talk..I am so relaxed and content around her.I just look at her some days...like just look, and I have the biggest smile and my heart is filled and overflows. Can't ask for anything better than that.Nothing compares in the whole entire world anything that comes close to that!!I often wonder sometimes, if anyone else could really fill my heart up as much as she does?Great Topic OP..Your answers?????FOXY

That is an interesting answer Foxy. A lot of women I've been out with do not want children. They consider childrento be an irritation on their lifestyle.

While I only get to see my kids once a week or so my heart will always be with them. Lovely post foxy. I don't think anything will compare to the relationship and bond you have with your children. Definitely feel more at home when I am with them than at any other time.

Right on the beach, and what I love is to wander down there as the sun is going down with hubby and the dog   I am happy when my husband is home, and when I am around my girls but alas they both moved to Melbourne of late.   I am happy with myself, when I can sit alone and read a book   I am happy when my girlfriends say, hey TR what ya doing want to come for coffee?   I have always lived on the road, moving from town to town so I am like a turtle I have to take my happy place with me in my heart and mind.   Now I am lucky enough that I do not have to work and I live by the seaside in a lovely town My needs are met, and my happy sexual place is from meeting nice guys of rhp , so its pretty darn good in my life right now.   but we all have our days and thats normal as well.

I have always been a gypsy,I thought that I could live anywhere, like the song says ''wherever I lay my hat is home''. But I forgot that I never wear hats....so I found myself in a strange land ,surrounded by gum trees and wattle, but it was not home. I came home and wandered about a bit more.I never wanted to buy a house,be responsible ,but six years ago I gave in and bought the house I now live in.Suddenly I am home, this is where my heart is. Like TR I live near the water, most days I gaze acroos a quiet bay to see an island resting on the horizon. Some days it disappears into a mist .This place suits me.I feel connected to the land ,the water and the people that live in this quiet village. My home.

I can't afford them yet. Perhaps one day. Here are some quotes about house and homes."Bricks and mortar make a house, but the laughter of children makes a home." - Irish Proverb"Human Creatures are the only creatures on earth that allow their children to come back home" - Bill Cosby."A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body" - Benjamin Franklin"A house is made from bricks and beams, A home is made from love and dreams". - unknown

My home is my home, with my man. Where I'm most comfortable in the world is on my couch reading my kindle. Other than that, location is not so important. We used to live in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast and I loved the trees, forest and the village atmosphere. I had always wanted to live there and would love to live there again some time, but I am content to be anywhere as long as my family and my man are close.

In no particular order:1. You have complete power over them!2. You'll never be stuck for something to do!3. You can buy stuff "for them" that's actually for yourself!4. You get constant, adoring companionship!5. You'll never be stuck for small talk again!6. You'll be able to miss any social occasion you like!7. You'll experience the joy of narcissism!

Went for a holiday (unfortunately North Island only) and I so felt at ease and home. The company was great as well.I would say the heart just knows, weather it be a person or place.
