I'm looking forward to Christmas ...

December 18 2018

It's sentimental I know, but I just really like it. (Thanks Tim Minchin!) I know there's a Bah Humbug Christmas thread going on, and I don't want to bombard their party with my happy holiday vibes ... so tell me, what are you looking forward to this Christmas? For those of you that remember, my partner who I met on here lives on the other side of the country. This year will be the first time we get to spend Christmas together, which is just the best gift! We'll wake up together Christmas morning, make breakfast for the kids, unwrap presents, go visit my family for lunch (featuring my ex - as a guest, not a menu item). And then, when the kids go home with their Dad on Christmas afternoon, Ty and I will go home and go back to bed. I've always loved Christmas, and whilst in past years my enthusiasm for decorating has waned, due to lack of time and energy, I still adore Christmas carols and movies. We'll be heading to the shops on Christmas Eve for Santa photos and last minute shopping ... that's my excuse anyway. Really I just love the vibe at the shops on Christmas Eve. I know, I'm a bit nuts. So what are you looking forward to? Do you have a christmas eve tradition? Are you creating some new ones this year?

People really don't know how lucky they are 🙄 My daughter and l are sitting at White Bay Cruise Terminal as we speak waiting to board for a 10 night Xmas cruise dressed in our Xmas earrings and our loud reindeer/Santa shirts from Lowes 😂 It's a tradition we started last year and will continue until she doesn't want to hang out with mum anymore lol. Christmas hasn't been the happiest of times, I don't have any family and her father doesn't even bother to call. it's just her and l so we jump on a ship and leave the country, we make the most of it and are happy for what we have 😃 Merry Xmas to you and to the gorgeous people of RHP and the many friends l have made this year. Love ya guts ❤️ FF

That was a bit Bah Humbug in the other thread, but I have just returned to work and everyone is all in the festive mood and I must say it has been quite heartwarming to see. Still glad I'm working Christmas day though.

For me, which is not that unusual. Both days are at my place, and both with various family members. Its been a terrible month or 2 for some of my family, a variety of big challenges have reared up and will continue to impact some for awhile yet. So it will be a bunch of fragile, battle weary and exhausted folk who turn up at various times. But at least we will all be together, because there was a chance that may not have happened...ever again. So yes, I am looking forward to being with my beautiful people and celebrating life, together. Christmas is a wonderful excuse to do so 😊🎄🥂

Right.... So...I took over catering Christmas lunch for my folks 3 years ago...prior to that mum(who’s now 73) had always cooked a turkey dinner... I decided that it was time for her to stop being the cook and to be the one someone waited on. I know I know, there I go again being....*gulp* nnn...nice again. So far though, I’ve managed to fuck every turkey dinner up hahaha it’s been rather a fun journey to say the least and incredible source of chastising material for my kids and folks for the last couple of years.. So I’m looking forward to not disappointing them again this year with an inedible turkey that we can spend another 12 months hanging shit on me for hahaha

I cancelled 2 weeks leave to work over Xmas and New Year. I even scored a 12hr overtime shift which includes shift penalties on top of overtime rates. Not complaining. One of my shifts will pay tax, the others I will happily accept in my bank account. Thank you very much. Ms Foxy

Great topic Patch., and that's also great you get time with Ty. this Christmas. Anti., plenty of extra virgin olive oil in the pan, turn it up to 220-230°C. for a while initially, then dial it back. Keep an eye on it and basting is crucial. Hope it all works out. Solitary, thumbs up, hope it isn't too tough a day. MsJonesey, two days, pace yourself, one busy day is enough here. EQ., enjoy. Thanks Shells.S_D., we know you have had a tough year, hope things improve over coming months and, as someone who spends the odd moment each day thinking of the past, remember the positive moments too, even I have a couple of those. Good luck this Christmas. As I just mentioned in The Coffee Shop, Merry Christmas to all. We're looking forward to today, because although it will be super busy, especially for me, we don't have family dropping in this year, and from the moment we knew/made that decision, a weight was lifted off our shoulders. Whatever you are doing, enjoy and stay safe. Mr. & Mrs. urn. .

Thanks for the good wishes, I have the utmost respect for the bloody monster. It's already been dropped and repaired, I bought it cheap and I'll have to sell it cheap. 2018 has been a bastard of a year but it's finishing on a high note, a new girlfriend and a new... I shall bike. I hope our sick girl snaps out of it soon 😉

Thanks S_D. and Mojo., hope it was a good day. Sounds to me you've got the making of an awesome year ahead Mojo. Hope you get better soon S_D. . And Mojo., that was a good thing in The Coffee Shop. We survived Christmas, even if I was still cleaning up into Boxing Day, it was actually the best in a long time. Who knew, all we had to do was omit other family 😁😄.Mr. urn. .

Quoting 'usrightnow_Again' Oh, and Mojo., careful with that between your legs I took the scenic route home this morning. I went through the hills near Gidgegannup via Brocky's Memorial, I know this road very well through my work. None the less it was quite confronting, the R3 is a big beast and not in its natural environment on the twisties. At 5'6" & 65 y/o with arthritis etc I'm getting a slice of the action before the window of opportunity slams shut. I'm so glad I bought it and hope to get a fair few K's on it before the new FTR1200's arrive.

We were reading what you wrote and Mrs. urn. said, "tell Mojo to seize the day", then she said, actually, "tell him to seize it by the balls". Ah Mrs. urn., one of a kind. I agree though, do it while you can, you never know when the opportunity or possibility just wont be there any more. I know from first hand experience, even at fifty-one, there's a lot I will never be able to do again, things I want to be able to do, for myself or with the kids, so make the most of it. Mr. urn. .

LOL and thanks for that I will indeed seize the day by the balls or any other way I can get a handle on it.
