People do truly under estimate how much work goes into reaching your set goals and getting the results...although it can become a very selfish 'hobby' if you have a partner or social life... I find that having a goal, something to strive towards motivates me. I had my bodybuilding competitions to aim for which gave me to motivation. I think once you have passed that 'cold turkey' phase of not eating rubbish or being lazy it becomes the normal thing for you to do. Those urges become less intense and it becomes easier to say no to a cake. This can however impact ones mental state so the odd 'cheat day' alleviates this. Consistency and preparation are the key factors, fail in this, fail in achieving your goals....

Well I would definitely not call my body hot by any crazy stretch. It once was rather nice though apparently. My interest in this post of yours Burning is the Fitness challenge you mention or Athleticism - I love it - always have. And agree with you around the dedication and commitment required to attain it. For me and lots of others ive spoken to about same, its the mental toughness and single mindedness required to thoroughly commit yourself to something greater then you. Yes Spiritual - Maybe this has veered a little on the body focus you posted but I believe those bodybuilding guys at the deadest upper end would probably say something similar in terms of their pursuit of perfection.

I'm no fitness freak, but I was a competitive amateur athlete in a very physically demanding sport and had to become extremely fit to make the most of it. To enjoy it as much as I could. It's much easier to keep fit at my leisure without the intensity of competition so it's not much effort for me these days. I don't do weight machines or normal gyms (never did). The best is going for a long steady run along the creek, no music, just let my mind and thoughts run with my legs. It's good medicine. Sometimes I'll do some Bikram yoga, which is amazing but expensive. I still tend to eat what I want and with gusto! I eat a shitload of chocolate and sweets. Never no need to diet. Maybe I'm lean because I can't afford a car or even public transport most times, so I have to walk or ride push-bike everywhere. Also, an athletic, lithe body (rather than just a muscly or glamour muscle body) is usually better for sexual performance. For a male's duty anyhow.

Performing in my chosen sport is what motivates me. Not that I am exactly ripped, or whatever.Getting injured is what makes me lose the fitness mojo. Seems like all pain, no gain at those times.

Behave. You are all incorrigible. Haha. But you all had.me.laughing in bed reading your posts. Ralf get a bucket under ur table and recycle the drool into ur garden. But I know what you mean. Do what I do. Before checking my messages and flirts, I slip on some.terry towelling wristbands that they use in tennis. It comes in handy in catching my drool before it.hits my keyboard. Stops the laptop from short circuiting and electrocuting me in the process. Op when I see these profile pics and they message me, my first reaction is 'howly Lordee. Ive died and gone to abs heaven.' There is a God and they are my just reward. Hallelujah!

Not toooo many years ago, I decided to get started out in the gym for better health and hopefully physique. After talking to the on site trainers I got into a routine there, and eventually built myself into quite a rigorous course. On an average day I went through around 18 - 20 tonnes of weight lifting in one form or another (or 18,000 - 20,000 kg for those who can't convert), usually done in a time frame of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, and also hit up the walking machines, rowing and exercise bike. Certainly felt fitter, gained weight (as muscle weighs more than fat, I'm told), but no discernible difference in physique. Kept it up for 2 years solid with pretty much the same result. I don't eat bad food generally speaking, so diet wasn't modified. Keeping motivated was hard at times as I just couldn't see the outside results, but I persevered in the hope. Eventually stopped as I just couldn't shift the bits I wanted, so methinks it could also be partially genetic. Lost 6 kgs pretty quickly after that. From what I saw at my time, downside was people spending most days at the gym for long hours just trying to keep the status quo. Tall

Ok to answer your question I have been active most of my life, as it was drummed into us as children that we need to keep busy yet focused to achieve something in life. My parents are your typical 'Dragon parents'. Lol. But nicer. It is a saying in my family that 'An idle mind is the devil's playground'. Now saying that, we keep our minds and body active, making productive use of our time. I have put on lots of weight when I got pregnant with my two boys. My body has changed with the pregnancy and it is not as tight. My boys being bigger than average babies (9+ pounders and long babies - the average baby is 6 pounds for western women and 5lbs for asian women) have stretched me to the limits and took a toll on my body. I had cesarean as the only way to pry them out of me. Took a while to recover from the operation and I just piled on the pounds. AFter a while, I missed getting back to my beautiful suits and dress and I got depressed. I was sick and tired of wearing elasticized pants hidden behind tent tops. So I made a choice to get healthy and get back into exercising. Gradual exercise like walking around the block and then further and further each time and faster and faster. soon, I was running and it felt good. I started setting goals to achieving PB running times for 1km for the week then 1.5 kms for a next week or so until I felt I push more, then increased it to 2km then 3km then upto 5km each day. When I dont puff too much, it means I can handle more. I also read books on modifying eating habits like eating Low GI foods that increases metabolism without the fat. Replacing 'good' food with 'bad' foods. It opened up a whole new world without the tedious work and drama of calorie counting. E.g. Use Angel hair spaghetti instead of normal spaghetti. cooks in no time and still low GI. Same amount, less calories, less workout. list goes on. My weight dropped off very quickly in the first 2 months combined with simple exercise like 30-45min walking each day then. I have helped girlfriends and they have lost lots of weight too and got into simple exercise routine. The excuses they made previously did not stack up anymore and they were just that, excuses. I get to train them sometimes into more rigorous exercises in the park or boxing gym to motivate them. Lots of fun. In my opinion, looking after one's health is of the highest priority. We must make time for it. 1 hour at least. I used to argue or talk myself out of exercising but in the end, I just drag my sorry ass to the gym regardless of how I feel and sweat it out in the machines, boxing or core work. I always feel good afterwards when the endorphin kick in and i can feel the sweat dripping on my face and body. I hardly drink alcohol and if I do, 1 glass of red wine will do or a G&T. then water all the way. I used to drink more but since I have been very healthy, I have no need nor desire for alcohol. A downside or upside however you want to see it. Lol I want to be healthy for me so I can enjoy life to the fullest, to fulfill my potential and watch my kids grow and help them fulfill their potential to be good people and live their dreams. I do it also because I want to set an example to my boys. We must lead by example.

I agree with some others here, in that having a fit and healthy lifestyle is the way to go. My focus is on sport and competition (amongst many other things), not on how I look. So it is all cardio and sprinting and riding and jumping and fun, not pumping weights in a gym. Not that there is anything wrong with that! But my point is you may not look perfect if you don't focus on body image, but if you are highly active you will look good. And if your intention is to have a healthy lifestyle - rather than having a superficial looks-based mindset - you will probably have much more fun training and better, lasting happiness as a result. And the other half is eating healthy. The more you do it, the more you love it. Personally, most of the foods I crave are healthy and I eat as much as I want (which is a kind of ridiculously large amount lol). Like hydey said above, injuries are the killjoy. Not a big problem for most people, but some of us like to push the boundaries way too often.....

...currently graces the cover of health life style magazines both here and the US working as a ambassador for a health supplements company. I nick named her ' the body ' because she has the body every woman would die for and every man drool over... She is also a die hard supporter for nrl footy club I was once a part of and loves coming to games to hang with me and my mates who have all become just as protective of her as me. Best of all ' at 22 years of age she still has both feet planted firmly on the ground. Looking at her smooth face bright eyes, and firm body reminds me how much more work i need to get back in top shape... I'm probally a 8 / 10 ATM so I need to get in and do abit of work to get back in top shape..
