In search of Sensuality

March 21 2013

Carnality, licentiousness, lasciviousness, salaciousness   Is sensuality being lost as the price for functionality? Are our lives so busy, so full, so instant that we have forgotten how to indulge our senses?   What place does sensuality have in your life. Do you revel in your sensuality? How do you express your sensuality. Is there a place for it here on RHP and similar sites?     My answers to come later

For me, some much sensuality is in the details... and having the time to stop, and enjoy those details. Choosing the perfect word for that seductive text message at just the right moment of the day. Watching goose-bumps form on skin as the afternoon breeze rolls in. Even just time to wistfully day-dream of the next time with that delicious lover... Time to smell the roses... freshly cut grass, perfume of a stranger or salty skin of your dozing partner, spent and entangled. But I don't know if life is too full for all those things. I can get manic... I rush, and I bustle... like everyone, but then, I also prioritise. When in the throes of passion, I guess I tend to focus.I love to show my feelings of sensuality, to share what I'm feeling. Sensuality shared is sensuality multiplied...

For me , Sensuality goes beyond the Bedroom . I live in a Tropical Paradise with the beauty of Nature everywhere I look . I love taking photos & that has made me see things differently . I also love Cooking (& eating) , taste is very important to me . I think indulging all of your senses makes you a more Sensual person. Is there a place for Sensuality on sites like RHP ? YES. There are many Sensualists here . Finding them is part of the Journey ;) GG♒- Posted from rhpmobile

Sensuality IS being lost. As a mind set, it is being relegated to the back seat due to the complications of the modern life. Computerization and the entire digital evolution have accelerated the pace of life so much, and changed so many things, that a lot of the simpler pleasures of life have been removed for convenience's sake.   I'm a bibliophile and the advent of the e book is a classic two-edged example of this. I love the feel, smell and look of a hardcover book, yet like the ease and convenience of the e book. Having a hardcopy of the book provides a sensual experience for me and I find it much more pleasureable reading from such.   Another example is the humble letter, opening an envelope that's travelled half-way around the world, carrying foreign stamps and scents, that you can unfold and read is way more sensual than clicking on and envelope icon and reading text on a computer/phone screen.   We had the recent post from Freya about sensuality and nature, and this I guess is a similar but more broad ranged question. Like Messolonghi says, you have to make the time to stop and smell the details (and taste, feel, hear and see).   I think I'm fairly sensual, being sexually aware of who I am let's me tap both fem/male aspects of my character confidently, and most times, unconsciously and this inevitably seeps into my mannerisms and attitude.   I definitely revel in it, it helps with music and writing, not to mention stage presence when gigging.

Thank you xfunloving..... There is something very sensual about holding an old book. Deviousbassman the next time you pick up an old book, pre digital print age,run your fingers over the page, feel the indentations of the type pressing into the paper...look at the sewn binding, run your fingers over the covers made of buckram or leather...even the foxing...those small brown marks often scattered on the pages, tell a story.

I am a very auditory person, I enjoy listening to things. I love to take a bike ride or a walk somewhere and just listen to the activity around me, or to the sounds of nature. Whenever I go out I never have headphones stuck in my ears, there are just too many other more interesting sounds. There are some walking tracks around the Sunshine Coast that have little hidden areas where you can sit down and listen to the crash of the waves upon cliffs at high tide and watch the surf roll in and it feels as though you are the only person on the planet, even though you are surrounded by resorts or houses and shops. I also love taking a half hour or so out of my day to jump over some rocks and visit the local waterfall. In terms of sex, without sensuality, there is no point. Passionate kisses, feather-light touches, the fabric of lingerie, fingers running through hair, teasing, rubbing, sucking, licking, the sound of someone moaning close to orgasm, scent, taste. How boring if we all just grabbed for the cock or the vag and didn't properly engage any other part of our senses in the act?
