Khao Beach Phuket

April 02 2019

We are thinking of booking a holiday in Khao Lak Beach area and are looking for some thoughts on this part of Phuket .Is there much to do in this area ?There seems to be many resorts along that section of beach .Is there much action around there ?We have stayed at Patong Beach previously where Bangalore Road is the centre of excitement .Looking for your thoughts . As this subject isn't getting much interest we will be more precise .Its The Haven , Khao Lak , located on Khuk Khak Beach .We cant see it advertised anywhere other than LuxuryEscapes .Hope this helps those who may have stayed in this area .

Khao Lak Beach Is not really close to Phuket though? I have stayed there and it’s about 100km away? Was a long time ago, before tsunami, so have no idea now what it’s like as it’s been totally rebuilt.

It quotes it as an hours drive from the airport .There appears to be many great resorts along that stretch of beach .

EQ is correct, Khao Lak is close to 2hours drive from airport, quite a ways out of Phuket..... traffic etc. Been many many moons since we have been and I've never heard of the resort. Sorry cant be more helpful.

We stayed there in 2017 at The Haven and loved it. But it is pretty much the polar opposite of Pattong. The drive isn't as long as two hours these days, and The Haven pick you up from the airport. The hotel itself is awesome and basically kid free. The food is pretty average, but there are plenty of beach shack restaurants a couple of minutes walk away with awesome food. The Haven is on an isolated kind of peninsular with only one road in, so you do have to get a taxi or the hotel shuttle in to town. There are two towns which comprise Khao Lak - Bang Niang and Nang Thong. Bang Niang is closer to The Haven, quieter, less touristy, less expensive and has an awesome market. Nang Thong is just an expensive resort tourist town. For what little nightlife there is, Bang Niang has it. There are two bars in town that run girls on the side and a large nightclub on the road back to the Haven. There didn't really seem to be any swingers action there when we were there. But we weren't really looking. It may be worth posting in some of the international forums in advance, as Khao Lak is hugely popular with Europeans. Anything else you want to know, feel free to ask :)
