PMT?? It can vary a lot from woman to woman and from month to month. I can get weepy and sad, I can get really really fiesty an angry and nobody better fuck with me, I can often eat and eat and eat and never feel full. Hormones! I was living with my sister when she was pregnant and I feared for my life. I was not allowed to touch my cutlery to the plate when I was eating, I washed the dishes to loudly and she was close to banning me and her boyfriend to our bedrooms when we were eating cause we all ate too loudly. Fuck me that wasn't fun. I appreciated and some guys feel around women when their hormones go out of wack. It's bloody scary!

And sometimes you can get so horny you start jumping furniture. Many a week I had to boil my undies cause they were stiff as a board. Wet wet wet all day long. ✷(ꇐ‿ꇐ)✷

Just agree with every thing she says. It's the safest course of action. :)

I've often said take the phone away from me when i'm suffering from PMT. The two or three days before my period i'm emotional and all over the place. Easily upset and quick to anger. Unfortunately i often don't know until they arrive that that's the problem. I do give the men in my life a free pass and a warning that i'm likely to be emotional. I will always let them know if we've had an interaction that was a bit OTT that i may have been held to ransom.

Another bit of advice for all you men ...never ever suggest that she is over reacting because she has PMT!!! Unless you want an argument.

I agree with Meeka - for me it can vary from cycle to cycle (I don't have a 'monthly' cycle). But I get irritable very easily and things that I am usually tolerant of suddenly drive me crazy. My mothering philosophy is generally not to be one of 'those' scream and shouting Mums - I prefer to use my words carefully and play them well - it's more effective (for my boys). But holy shit, when I'm pre-menstrual, I yell first - think and talk later. It does not end well .I get very sore and tender breasts and nipples too, I often look pregnant and my erm 'constitution' suffers - so all up, feel pretty meh!Mr IAT is great though - he just backs well off and gently reminds me when I've been too harsh on the boys and then I can put it right. But what I HATE, HATE, HATE is when guys just assume that women are PMS when they have an impassioned view on something or if men feel a female point of view is illogical or 'crazy' - it must be "that time of the month" - Not so men folk! Open your eyes! (vent over....just sayin')

I have managed to get the worst of the symptoms under control, but occasionally I will still get hormonal, moody, easily upset/angry, with a ravenous hunger for food and sex.... while I am not a fan of most of those symptoms the increased sex drive is one side effect that doesn't worry me too much, thou always much easier to handle when I have a regular playmate available!! Best advice I can give you is to read the signs she is giving you and be wary when she says she is 'fine'... oh and always have a supply of chocolate on hand just in case!

I reckon you are on to a winner with that idea. If more men did that there would be much less arguments I am sure....

I don't get too much of a big mood swinge when PMT hits, but I do eat like a pig!!! I just can't stop eating and will literally eat snacks or small meal every 1-2 hours, and big meal when the main meal time comes. The only mood swinge I get is that I tend to cry easier if I see or hear something sad. But I usually cry inside my car and I don't call anyone up for a cry just in case lol- Posted from rhpmobile

Oh I am sorry Paint Me.... there speaks a woman who does not suffer very much. Personally I am liable to take that bottle, upend it and scull those bubbles then beat someone with the damn bottle. Yes I suffer, I had four teenaged girls in my house a few years ago. All five of us in sync. That was when I developed my killer brownie recipe.- Posted from rhpmobile

PMS sucks. As an holistic health therapist I would anyone who suffers from PMS or hormonal imbalances should take a look at giving Vitex Agnus Castus (Chaste Tree Berry) a try. It reduces the PMS symptoms and helps to regulate hormones and menstrual cycle.

The pre menstrual time and menstruation are a time where women should technically be in their "woman cave" nurturing themselves - man free - that is why women become crabby before their period - their physiological cave woman is screaming out "leave me alone" and urging her to seek solace. Unfortunately in our modern day world we just have to keep soldiering on. That is where chocolate comes in.

..."What level of psychological discomfort...."It can range from mild "feeling off" symptoms to full on anxiety, depression and in severe cases psychosis or suicidal or self harming behaviour. When PMS is severe it can be diagnosed as premenstrual dysphoric disorder and can be VERY miserable for a woman.

It's funny how that few days-week before a period can change a woman's personality. I know for me, if I'm on the pill I am a lot better but when I'm off, I tend to go a little psycho in the week leading up to it. It may be the intense cramps that contribute to it, the tiredness and the hormones all conspiring together to make life in general irritable. I get really defensive and snappy at the littlest comments, really super angry for no reason (absolutely none!). The littlest things will set me off, like a bit of mess on the kitchen bench, or getting a phone call to change a schedule. I feel so sorry for Mr Otori during those times. He just runs away when I've got the rages going and I really do try to not take it out on him.

Driving interstate transport is one of the true wonders of the world. I was married, I have 3 daughters, and even the dog was female. So I'm pretty well up with this stuff. Hence why I drive interstate transport. You don't seriously think I'm going to be anywhere 5 females when they're in sync do you??- Posted from rhpmobile

Foxy sometimes the man cave isn't strong enough to avoid a woman going batshit crazy.... At least being away the entire week her cramps will be enough motivation to not drive after me :p- Posted from rhpmobile

PMS/PMT is not something I have ever had to deal with.......I am one of the unicorn women, YES we do exist.Worst that happens for me around my period is I may get a headache, but rarely even that.....I don't find my mood changes (this can be verified by the guys I have lived with most of my life....they never know either!) Definitely agree with the increased sex drive though... Just another day of the month for me

Had an interaction this week with my lovely Irish man. He was itching to ask if i had my periods because i was a little snappy (well......maybe a lot ) He had the sense not to .....until i mentioned it. Then he was the epitome of sweet.....don't you just love it when a man gets IT! Ladies, there is gold out there.

Well I find things change over time. I never used to get headaches that only started a few years ago. But not every time. I never normally get cramps either. Fingers crossed I never will.

The pain, the tiredness, the bloating... What part do you find fun?? Of course its going to screw with our psychotic tendencies. The only way for men to comprehend what we women go through with menstruation is for them to grow through it themselves, which of course will never happen. Men, stop trying to understand us menstrating women, best for you to be compliant and watch what you say and do.- Posted from rhpmobile

I can go from no period, plenty of energy to complete and utter exhaustion the minute my period appears. I'm so tired I just want to sleep for days. And then the food cravings hit, as though I've been starving myself for weeks. I just want to eat and eat and eat and eat. Mostly comfort food, lots of carbs, chocolate. And I'm soft and cuddly and needy and emotional. And horny as hell. I have really irregular periods due to PCOS and over the years the pattern and cycle and symptoms have changed a lot. In earlier years I had terrible pain and aching, and was always in bed with heat packs and drugs. These days it's usually just tenderness, but the emotions and tiredness are full on. I often want to retreat into a woman cave and hide from the world. In fact I think, from Ancient and Eastern perspectives, that's what we're supposed to do. Don't believe the bloody tampon ads telling you you're weak unless you're running a marathon by day and clubbing by night all while you have your period. If you need to rest, rest. If you need cuddles, seek cuddles. If you need to rage, well ... good luck :)

You cant fight nature as this is built in to the brain so that we populate and for guys its wanting to hump everything. We also can control the urge that is what defines us from animals its up to the person to control there brain signals. Many years ago I found out I had depression yet with no medical or doctors I fought back and learned to control it and not it control me. Believe it or not I also cured myself of bowel cancer the same way so remember what Freud said we only use a tenth of our brain. LOL I wish I could use 100% just to see what I could do

WOW!!! I was just talking about this topic with my group of girlfriends. They all described the previous mentions when going through PMT! Some of them would go rather OTT berserk on their partner/hubby. My jaws absolutely dropped hearing the different mood swings they go through when approaching and during their menstrual cycle. I however, get extremely horny a week before and during mine (though refuse to do anything during the bloody - mind the pun, cycle). However there are no indicating changes in me bar the fact my breasts goes from D to DDs, but never suffer from any mood swings.
