  I believe that it can be taught. Like any activity, if you want to get better, practice practice practice.   I met a lady with a hair trigger recently, we were both a bit surprised at how quickly it happened. She was apologetic and even a bit embarrassed about it, I think I was able to convince her that there was no need for her reaction, after it was something that happened not something she did.
