I believe in Karma, but the way Buddhists do, not the way you describe it. On Sunday I was on my way to work when I encountered a woman at the train station where I got off. She was lost, intoxicated, hungry and upset. I spent a good 15 minutes with her, making sure she was ok and knew where to go, getting her a coffee, etc. Then just as I walked out of the station, it started to pour. Had I ignored the woman, I would have not gotten drenched. My shoes stayed soggy my whole shift. Karma, pffft.

I needed that laugh:-) I agree with Meander. re karma,if only it was as simple as there are immediate consequences for good or bad actions..the Laws of Karma are complicated and have Hindu roots...My small story is of a random act of kindness..in my local shopping centre there appeared a pop up gift shop..I had been perusing a few items and chatting to the young man behind the counter..I wasn't really interested in purchasing anything and started to walk away...he called out to me and in his hand was a pretty silver tea light lamp....he asked me if I would like it and began wrapping it up...I thanked him profusely and wandered off...it was such a lovely thing for him to do xxFreya

I don't believe in Karma, if I was to believe in Karma then I would also have to believe that I am a c..t of a person. I do believe though that things happen for a reason even though sometimes the reason isn't immediately apparent.

The world is full of random events we try to put meaning too. Finding a coin is a lucky event. I don't think karma returns you this. Karma I find is how you portray yourself. If you let yourself be walked over, then people will realise they can take advantage of you and will do this to you. If you're arrogant and rude then people will shy away from you. We in our behaviours portray how we like to be treated and people will pick up on this and it will attract people that will treat you this way. So in karma take a good look at yourself and see if you're behaving the way you want others to treat you - and you're likely to get a lot of good karma :)

I have had incidents in my life where I've tried to keep my karma good, such as telling a store person they have given me to much back in change, or trying to help newly met people in ways that have been unexpected such as meeting a woman at the bus stop one week then baby sitting her sons for 3 weeks while she was in hospital the next week. I have thought kudos to me for my good deeds perhaps that's why my karma can turn on me. Such as leaning money and never seeing it again and have afore mentioned woman turn rabid on me for no reason. I really don't know sometimes I think Take what I can give nothing back ! could be a interesting thing to try . I find a lot of people see kindness as weakness, which is sad. But on the flip side a random act of kindness was bestowed on me just over 18 months ago , I arrived late off the bus at the airport with my 1 yr old in tow . too late to board our flight , we had traveled by bus for 6 hours to airport no money left and no way home . I burst into tears which is unnatural for me in and of itself as I'm very reserved in public. Well the next thing I know another passenger is pushing a new ticket into my hand at first I was mortified then I was ready to politley.refuse the young man saw this and informed me that as he had already paid then if I refused he couldn't get a full refund so I must take it. and once again I burst into tears this time in relief. You see I was going to see my partner and I had taken time off work as well as sub letting my house while I was away. so there was complications no matter what I did except that by his kindness I got to my destination and the biggest bonus is that I fell pregnant with my nearly one year old daughter while I was there. So I was blessed.

..I've never been a believer in fate or destiny..that things happen the way they do for a reason. Probably because i like to think I'm the master of my own destiny. But i do believe that kindness will generally beget kindness, just as displaying cruelty and anger will bring it out in others.

I've seen far to many devastating things happen to amazing people to believe that anything is fair in life. As far as "Everything happens for a reason": I think that's is true if you make it that way, by treating bad things that come your way as challenges and lessons rather than as problems. Easier said than done sometimes.

believe in Karma. However I don't think...I do something good now I will get the reward straight away. I believe you are just, fair and nice to others and it will show up somewhere. I had a incident where I went to the Bank teller machine in the shopping center to take money out of the machine for shopping....I put my card in and the machine said take your money.....but I haven't put in how much I wanted. I thought that's odd. I tried 3 times and the writing said take your money....what I didn't see before there was 50 dollars what a gift. So for me it was wow.....the writing said take your money.... But there are little things which come back to you....for being a beautiful soul.....I believe it. I am not a doormat, and stand my ground with people, still I am trying to let my heart speak and I find it comes back every time.....and that's what I call, Karma.

I find it funny that people often refer to Karma.... as a weapon against someone they feel has wronged them. IE..... someone crashed into your car and didnt leave a note..... but "karma will get them back" The idea of karma as a means for vengeance or retribution is kind of missing the point. DG

life and its lessons challenges and journey ! Karma is just a word so can be manipulated in many ways , so if you think you will help that person with there bags then i will have good karma ! Or Give that money back because thats good karma !! Your actions decisions choices are selfish. And there for wrong . Karma is a spiritual attitude within ones heart and soul where there is no reward for karma , if you think karma is a reward for good things you do , then your wrong karma is about a life understood and the choices decisions actions you choose which will be determined by your knowledge and acceptance of your dominant underlying reasoning behind your choices decisions actions based upon challenges undertaken through your life. There for karma does not exist as a prize ! it is not a reward , karma is life and the lessons your challenges mould within you your moral ground and your inner foundation towards every living being in your universe, your attitude to knowledge and understanding empathy acceptance of ones own self and whats right and whats wrong good and bad decisions actions reactions to challenges we face every single day. Karma is simply our journey our MEANING of Life and Death . - Posted from rhpmobile

I have no expectations of the concept I refer to as Karma..to me it seems that a "Surprise" return on a good deed is the point of it. To be good, expecting good things in return as some sort of cosmic payment sounds like setting myself up for disappointment. About 2 months ago, a former workmate from 5 years back rings me one morning asking for help. We are friends in the Facebook sense only. She'd been sleeping in Perth Airport for 2 days already, had run out of money and was getting desperate. Hence the call to an old workmate in Perth. Except I was 2000km away.I recognised the sound of desperation in her voice, so after offering all the possible alternatives I could think of, I booked and paid for her immediate flights home to Mildura in Victoria. Naturally she was super relieved for a few days, promising to pay me back as soon as her first pay came in that week. I wasn't surprised at all that a month later, after no contact from her, she had blocked me on Facebook and wouldn't reply to a text. Scared of a public shaming maybe? Whatever the reasons…most likely she had lost her new job already…I wasn't angry, just disappointed. It was only money. Over the years I had watched on Facebook as she had gone from one shithole job, relationship and home to another. Meanwhile, after a painful breakup for me late last year, I have my head together again and have bought my own home again. She would have known I could have helped her with accommodation in Perth one day. One should never forget the kindness and generosity of others.

Ever heard of street karma? Works well when natural karma is taking too much time to catch up on a bad guy. Also known as Vigilantism.

If you do something wrong it comes back to bite you because you knew it was wrong at the time. Conscious and karma are one and the same thing.. Do the right thing by someone and you feel good . We create our own Karma. Nothing magic about it..

..probably why the small moment with the coin stays with me is that no one else was present to witness it, so i wasn't going to be judged either way. Like accidentally scratching a car door I suppose and no one see's it. What does one choose to do next..?
