Lucid Dreams

August 29 2018

Hey everyone! So, I'm one of those people that cannot sleep in total silence, I find it difficult for some reason and need some kind of 'light' background noise to help me drift off, whether its the hum of a fan, a TV with the volume very low, or perhaps something playing through my phone, such as meditative 'theta waves' or something similar... Recently I tried listening to this track on Youtube that is apparently meant to assist in relaxation, deep sleep, lucid dreams and dream recall... ...and wow, the last couple of weeks I'm having these rather insane Dreams!!! When I was a child, I would experience lucid dreaming and be able to control myself in my dreams, and also be fully aware that I was IN a dream. And because Children quite often have nightmares (I also suffered night terrors as a 10-12 year old - not fun!), I would be able to cause myself to wake up to the nightmare by either killing myself (sounds morbid I know!) or doing something drastic that I knew would wake me up, whether it was jumping off a ledge or stabbing myself with a knife. I look back now on those childhood dreams and think "Bloody hell...lucky I wasn't sleepwalking when I did those things in my dream-state!" But I digress a bit! Recently, I've been experiencing these Lucid dreams again, and In some of them I am able to control my movements, but unlike I was when a child, I do not realize I am in a dream until waking up. The point is, it's been a weird couple of weeks, experiencing these crazy dreams. I'm not having nightmares or anything like when I was a child (thankfully!), but I do find them all rather intriguing and wacky. So for a bit of a fun topic...How about you guys share some of your most bizarre dreams that you can remember? Because no matter how ridiculous the story...anything is possible in a dream ;) -Supernova.

usually find it difficult to fall asleep in total silence so I need some light background noise to drift off, sometimes TV but more often than not radio SEN.

Once upon a time, in my early twenties. It started when I would wake with a fright from nightmares. I don't know what possessed me but I started talking myself into going straight back to sleep and back into the nightmare, only this time I would control what I did. I think (don't know for certain) that because I was going straight back to sleep but keeping a bit of control over the rate at which I did so enable this. Kind of like paddling on the surface of a pool rather than diving. This progressed to me waking myself from pleasant dreams as well and doing the same thing - oddly enough they were never sexual. This then progressed to me not really waking at all but just being aware that I was in a dream and thus able to control them. I would mostly fly, for obvious reasons. I had one dream where I flew above a forest for what seemed hours, diving and climbing. My ''totem'' (if you will) for trouble in my life was (and still is) crocodiles. If I felt embattled in any part of my life, I would (and still do) dream I was in a remote creek in a canoe and crocodiles were in the water everywhere and they would have a go at you. I found I was able to almost will them away if they got too close. It was the most amazing thing. I could do this for about a year, then I suddenly found that I must have been a light sleeper over that time, because I was sleeping very fitfully and deeply suddenly and could not remember dreaming at all. I miss being able to lucid dream. I still dream, and there I am in a canoe in a croc-infested creek from time to time, but cannot control them. Thus, I just paddle like fuck.
