Meet & Greet Suggestions 2022

May 25 2022

Dear RHPers, Having hosted previous Meet & Greets in the past, and considering that there are no listed upcoming events open to anyone trying to meet people (at least not in Vic), I'm interested in your suggestions, and feelings, about attendance or concerns about various socials in the current health climate. Regardless, future suggestions for social meet & greets and similar social outings would be appreciated for those interested. For example, after winter, the weather may be quite suitable for an outdoors day event (park, beach etc), or perhaps large indoor or sheltered venues (better for space and ventilation). Let me know your thoughts. CT

I work in customer service so I’m not worried about being exposed to anything more than I’d be exposed to at work and being that it’s only a meet and greet I wouldn’t be too concerned about vax status or anything like that. Don’t count on the weather though, I was just reading about the strange system above the north end at the moment which signals that we’re going to be underwater in 6 months, but prior to that we’re meant to have a warm winter...Covid, monkey pox, climate emergencies...it’s all a mess, we should be partying every day like it’s our last 😅

There are plenty of venues that have rooms indoors for large groups without being too crowded, i for one would like one to be held sooner ratherbthan later... its been far to ling since there was just a social gathering for like minded peeps

I don’t think it would need to be an outdoor setting, as long as there is a good sized space with good ventilation. Something like the Tap831 venue you used once in the past would be perfect

These are all good suggestions. Ticketing or individual invites are always a drama, sometimes just choosing a place with lots of space, and whoever shows up works well. But it's also nice to have a dedicated space at least, so that folks aren't having a hassle of finding who is there for the relevant meetup.

The Wharf Hotel as organised by Ms Jonesy was my favourite. Nice outdoor ambience by the river and the city view. Outside heaters, inside good as well. Not too noisy as was the case of the spcial nights at the Casino which was terrible. But l think the big meet and greet nights are a thing of the past. They were very much driven by the forum people which are a casualty of RHP management now. Oh the good old days. Those were the days.......

Would love a social night out with some of the RHP gang, its been a bloody long time since we have been able to do so. I prefer somewhere where the music isn't so loud; you can actaully have a conversation! Agree with whoever suggested that venues might be more flexible with costs for exclusive spaces, just to get some people through their door.
