Nothing wrong with a man doing his job Cavey. I lived in a mining town for ages. High Vis was definitely appropriate going out attire and I never had a problem with it. On the right lad the whole package can be a turn on. As I said, I like a bit of dirt. Sure there are others. - Posted from rhpmobile

I dont' think I'm too fussed on shoes although I'm not a fan of sandals on men ... thongs are okay ish as long as they are 'nice ones' - not double pluggers and they are suitable for what you are wearing.

Love a man in a suit and polished shoes or even a man in jeans and clean runners. For me its more about whether the man knows how to dress up or down for the occasion as a whole package. If a man wears thongs everywhere that is a big turn off for me. I also love Firemen wearing only their yellow fire proof pants, suspenders and boots .... omg that's hot (images of firies from the Fireman's Calendar flashing through my brain now) Cavey if you have the rest of the gear you can wear your steel cap boots to put my fire out .... LOL What I can't cope with is knee high socks worn with sandles/thongs ... cringe worthy. LG

the humble Converse. What erks you so much? I like them for the particular style, they don't that rate highly for me because they feel like shit to wear (I hear really expensive ones have more cushioning). I do think they are overpriced. Volleys are $20- and do the same level of job. So, what's the story Morning Glory? - Posted from rhpmobile

I agree, maybe not. Indian toe thongs are good on the right guy. Birkies and earth walkers can be cute. Shows off the cosmopolitan SNAG. ✌️ I'm sweet on thongs as long as they didn't come with a carton of beer. No socks allowed. Ever. - Posted from rhpmobile

Birkenstocks, they remind me of too many people I want to forget..as for Firemen, just to make you jealous,in 2008 I was travelling from Devon to London by train when a landslide de-railed the train, two very hunky firemen gave me a firemens lift to assist me to the ground, which BTW my feet barely touched..SWOON..As for their boots...I barely noticed 😈 Q

At eleven years of age, my family moved to Canberra. Not long afterward, at twelve years of age, I commenced High School. This was a Public High School which had a "colour code" rather than a uniform we had to wear. In terms of footwear, most all of the boys wore either KT-26 sneakers or Desert Boots. Not me. My maternal Grandmother bought me a pair of leather school shoes. "Big deal", some may say, "lots of kids wear leather school shoes." Others may recognise (or perhaps even remember from their own school days) how quickly and cruelly kids will seize upon opportunities to target non-conformance to the social norms. Particularly with the new kids... In either case, you really don't understand. These were no ordinary school shoes. Ordinary leather school shoes will have been enough to set me apart. My new school shoes had a single broad strap which extended over the tongue of the shoe to a commensurately large brass coloured buckle on the outward facing side of the shoe. I swear I thought my Grandmother had held these aside from a Cobbler's unsold stock from 16th or 17th Century England! Despite my begging, pleading, and even my most strenuous and indignant objection, my Mother forced me to wear these bloody things to School. From the first morning, from the very first moment I joined my friends on the walk (of shame) to School, my nickname became "Buckle Up." My reports of incessant teasing and shaming, and my continued objection to these bloody shoes fell on deaf ears. Further, I was warned of consequences should I purposefully destroy those shoes. With no other recourse, I took to smuggling my sneakers out of the house each morning and getting changed enroute to school... There was one fatal flaw to my cunning plan. Too early in the piece, I lapsed in my complaining and whinging about those bloody shoes. This alerted my Mother's suspicions, and I was subsequently required to hand over my sneakers before departing to school of a morning. As you get older, you look back on these sorts of things and consider them "character building". I did scuff the shit out of those shoes and I took my licks. My nickname remained "Buckle Up" right up to the time we moved from Canberra a few years later with my Dad's next posting.

.... unless absolutely compelled by weather or decorum, do we get points for having cute toes? No, I do not wear a Hugo Boss and paint my feet black and perforate the toes.... I do own some very nice formal and casual kicks. They're just not and never will be as comfy as bare feet! A good pedicure too...that always helps!

My O/H could share a tear with you. His mother was fastidious about many things. Nothing a la pied piper but his shoes were polished daily. Always laced, no buckles allowed, no slip ons. He couldn't help but stand out from the Blunnies everyone at his primary and secondary wore. He was always an outsider as a kid and he hated it. On the upside, he's very well trained. Far better than I when it comes to housework and he still doesn't wear Blunnies. Winning 😄 -Longest. - Posted from rhpmobile

...favourite shoes are still the Merrell Striker Goal...though the design seems to have changed a bit now. I've had a pair for over 10 years...they're comfy as...but the incredible thing is that none of the stitching has come undone and the original laces on them are still fine. THE ORIGINAL LACES ARE STILL FINE!! Amazing. Many another shoe has been and gone in that time.Of course the sole is almost completely worn through from a decade of me dragging my heels.. Otherwise...my 9yo Alpinestar SMXplus's are the comfiest, safest-feeling boots I've ever worn on a bike. In glorious red.For work I need a steel-cap...so I wear a short, ankle height one. They're lighter.

I had to look up which ones you were talking about but I can say: One of our mates had these (swore by them too) and inspired my O/H to get another style (just so they weren't twins). He had two pairs of those. Wore them to death and Merrell are great shoes. I really loved his version particularly. They were very stylish. About a year ago he replaced them with another style, a pull on. Apparently the others are discontinued. 😥 I try not to look at his feet when he's (constantly) wearing them. Ok, I'm pretty into shoes! 😂 I can say Teva's are equally good. I don't wear hiking shoes any longer (different climate/ dress style now) but they were a fave for years on years. - Posted from rhpmobile

regardless on who is wearing it. have I got a shoe fetish? Not sure. I do notice shoes and I think they make or break an outfit/look. WRT to shoes on men, well... YES. Earlier in my time here, I chatted with a hot man, hunky sexy pics and body. He reminded me a lot of Daniel Craig, blond, same build and age. He also seems into Asian women so a bonus for me. I think it was my first 'drinks meet' from here. Excited to meet him. We organized to meet at a cozy cafe by my local beachside train station on a Saturday afternoon. I prettified myself, nothing over the top - nice dress, light makeup, clean hair, cute heels - and waited at the train station.... waiting for the magic to happen.... And Daniel Craig marches out of the station.... as if in slow motion... like 007, dressed for stealth ...baby blue tight tshirt, camouflage pants (olive green, orange and baby blue) and to top it off.... baby blue Crocs! Did I miss the memo of whether we were having coffee or paint-balling? All I can say, this baby was shaken and definitely stirred .... to move to the other direction. first date, traumatized.

My opinion on Converse is from a repetitive dream i had for many years. In the dark of night i am pusued for hours through darkened lanes and side streets. Through dark grimy industrialised areas. My pursuer is faceless, clad in black. Eventually i am cornered, my stickings torn and laddered. My high heels broken. I am cut and dirty from my attempts of escape. I find myself in a dark wet basement, the intermittent drops of water echoing throughout the damp recesses of the void. The same sounds tormenting my mind as i lay in fear. I am pulled and pushed by many hands that just appear from the gloom. Suddenly i am restrained upon a wooden alter, it rough hewn timber scrathing at my skin. I see the dark figure approach. Its face hidden in shadows from a satin like material cape and hoop. Its hands reveal a glistening blade, polushed and honed. I feel the restraints of ropes at my four limb extremities. There is little sound as that blade is raised. What seems like an eternity passes as the long handled blade rises and pauses at its peak. Suddenly its downward journey begins. Immediately i feel its coldness slicing through my neck. Pain is absent as my head falls down which i presume to be the floor. My eyes spin as my head rolls and suddenly stops its motion. I feel blackness enveloping my mind as i die. I hear laughter as i gaze upward to the peering face above. I feel resistance to the side of my head. At the corner of my fading eyesight i see that its the beings foot. I see an emblem on the shoe. The fucker is wearing Converse.......and i pass on.

Saw INXS play at Aus Made Subi oval summer 87, second year of my apprenticeship and first thing I spent big on was my first pair of 8 hole black Dr Martins. I didn't pick up on the other things Docs were known for I just thought Micheal Hutchence was cool and I wanted to be cool. Also I have ankles like egg shells from being a dingaling as a kid and damaging them so when going to pubs to see bands they protected my ankles well. Early nineties I was in London and had to go to the Doc store to check it out and got a pair of 8 hole black steel toe caps, have docs for day and night now. In an attempt to be fashionable I got a pair of cherry red shoes for going out, I like them anyway and I don't claim to be fashionable just attempted to. Cheers

Yeah, I'm going to be pretty gutted when my old Merrells die...which will be soon...the heel is almost worn through now.I've been looking at the newer models for a replacement...not convinced yet...but I'm a big one for Brand Loyalty in many things I own. We'll see.For the first time, I bought a pair of waterproof hiking boots last year, online. Columbia's they are...and I wore them in the snow, water and slush of Iceland, then in the jungles of Laos, 6 months later. So far, they look and feel great. I'm impressed.

Winning 😄 -Longest. - Posted from rhpmobile Q's not gonna like this* but I must confess, there is more to the story... I too had to polish my school shoes each day. I don't recall shedding tears over those buckle up school shoes. My friends and I continued to get along great guns. I didn't blame them for taking the piss. I knew I'd have done the same. However, I did harbour a deep resentment of my Mother and my Grandmother because my Mother (at least) also surely must have known the shit I would cop when I fronted up to school wearing them. I'd been something of a handful when I was a kid, and my Mum had a prodigious capacity to remember slights and bear grudges. (She passed away a while back now). Best I can make out, Mum figured I had it coming. You see, some years earlier, Adidas Rome sneakers were all the rage. All the cool kids were wearing them and I pestered Mum incessantly until finally she relented. In those days we lived very frugally and Mum had objected up to that point on the basis she couldn't afford those shoes. My then toddler brother and I had been shod in Grosby's up 'til then. Anyway, one Friday afternoon we made the long walk to the local Westfields (we were a one car family and Dad used that to get to work. In any event Mum didn't even learn to drive until some time after my brother was born). Mum bought me the Adidas Romes, but tried very hard to impress upon me how they were really much more expensive than she could afford, and that I would have to take much better care of them than all of the shoes she had purchased for me previously. If I didn't look after them, I'd NEVER get another pair. I was ecstatic. Those shoes didn't come off my feet except for bath times for the next week! No-one trod on MY blue suede shoes, but by just the following Friday, knocking around every day with my friends on our bikes and skateboards in our street, I tore a hole in the side of one of my new shoes. Needless to say, Mum hit the roof (and I copped a hiding)! I never did get another pair of those shoes, or any other item of clothing the "cool kids" got to wear - not until I was earning my own money to pay for those sorts of things. You live, you learn. I learned to take very good care of my stuff. Actually, I have T-shirts older than some of the younger members of this website! *In another thread, Q stated she hates it when someone makes a post, receives responses, then reveals more to a story. Guilty as charged Your Honour. That's life though isn't it? Rarely (if ever) is everything revealed to someone in an instant!

...reached that time when I need to buy a new pair of boots again. Motorbike boots. I have other bike boots...motocross and sports road type...but my general-purpose-waterproof-wear-to-the-shops-boots need replacing. After 9 years, which is a good run, I think.I do wear runners or some sort of conventional shoe occasionally, but experience has shown that...even putting the safety of my toes aside...they're not that practical. They aren't waterproof and the lack of a proper grippy sole has resulted in my foot slipping off the road, followed by my bike and me, before. For an every-day bike boot, my expectations are that it have some protection...leather is good enough..but look inconspicuous under jeans and be comfy to walk in for a few hours. One does not simply wear motocross boots on a GoldWing or garish, sporty AlpineStars on a Harley. Any rider who says he/she doesn't dress to a code that suits the bike and them is full of it.Such is fashion.

Quality leather - Italian from Calzature Alberto Di Della Rocca Franco, Via Appia Nuova, Roma. Usually pointy toe (I hate to follow fashion). (4 pairs). 2. Jika Tabe from Japan... the ones with a separate space for your big toe... so comfy it feels like bare feet. (two pairs) 3. Tan Yakka work boots (no steel caps - a bitch if you are going through security at airports). (One pair) 4. Red Cons... coz I can. (two pairs). 5. Orange Cons... coz I looorve orange. (two pairs) 6. ASICS GT-2170 because they let you run ... anywhere! (one pair). 7 Havaianas... what else in summer...
