was a figment of Jane Austen's imagination. The tall, dark, handsome, strong, emotionally unavailable rich bastard awakened by our heroine, fiesty, intelligent but poor Elizabeth Bennet..hmm the precursor to Mr.Grey....just Darcy reimagined for the 21century. The romantic myth continues,Darcy is an archetype ,he would no doubt make lovely babies, that is why.

Well to be honest I think Freya summed it up beautifully and I dont think I can add that much to it...(nice comparison Darcy to Grey) but Grey leaves me cold (not to mention the crap books - I mean seriously - you think that is BDSM ????) Im am Elizabeth Bennett....so born in the wrong century and if truth be known I am seeking Mr Darcy and here we can mention Daddy issues My father (now passed) was Mr Darcy Tall (ex Marine) dark, handsome, educated, wealthy, dominant, well travelled and did not suffer fools glady.....he also did good suit (after he left the Marines, he became a funeral director - so my memories of my father are always of him dressed immaculately in a suit, being kind and compassionate/empathetic to his clients but also taking control in their grief ridden situaiton) and if Im honest I have been (and probably continue) to do so, looking for my father again I have been married 3 times - interestingly enough, none of my husbands nor lovers have remotely been anything like my father (bar one) - so it would also be fair to say that I acknowledged my "father" issues and avoided them (denied ) them accordingly My last long term lover - was Mr Darcy....so finally I stumbled across my father reincarnated...I use to watch him at times as he said or did things that reminded me of my Da and I would comment to my partner of this He (the partner) turned out to be a lying cheating drunk..............not unlike my father.......so do we all seek our father figure in some shape or form ? So yes Darcy is an archetype....for me he was a father/lover... Truth be known Im sitll drawn to Mr Darcy...... and I guess I will continue my search (although feel I have more chance of stumbling acorss the Ark of the Covenant or the Holy Grail - Hey Nick :)...still one must have a quest... Meanhwile..endless repeats of the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice...are there to comfort me (thank god its on Blue Ray now) ................and yep, I dont fast forward to the lake/white shirt scene............I love the anticpation ...and patiently sit thru the proceeding episodes....I love that long slow build up.........the climax..................oh and I am so rewarded. *****sighs............pants************ Swoon............................... And to think Colin Firth, initally refused the role..feared he'd be typecast.....like theres worse things in the world as being known as the ultimate "Mr Darcy" sigh......................................................................... Rite....Im off to watch Sheldon.............a archetype in the making...

Are we seriously having this discussion about breeder-suitable masculine archetypes? What about Marquis De Sade, Dorian Gray... Jack Sparrow... James Dean... god even Rock Hudson or Clint Eastwood. I'll show you a real man, I'll get full-on Marine on your ass if thats what you're up for... I mean I can someone's arm in seven placess... although... you show me a "real" woman and I might show you a real man... don't make me laugh. On the other hand, Pride & Prejudice and Zombies was absolutely hilarious. I highly reccomend it. In the meantime, I must resume the search for the holy grail, or the covenant of the lost femininity. That is all.

Some have it Some fake it and it shows Its in the fact that they do not need a woman. Indifference is an aphrodisiac I kinda like the I am the wabbit, and the man is the hound The character of Jack Sparrow is no alpha male, the actor without the costume or the script is much more attractive. The character of James Bond is attractive, not all of the men that play that part may be alpha males. I have met very few Alpha males in my long life. Many talk the talk but it aint their for me. but once in a while...ohhhh yep The irony of it @Nick, is my husband can snap a mans arm in two , and has dislocated the use of force trainers arm , twas a ooops moment) Yet to others he is seen as an alpha male. Not to me but then if its the end of the world and I needed a guy to take charge I would line up behind him. We don’t live in a cave any more so women tend to look for men to take care of their emotional needs as well as physical. so the rich tall, dark handsome dude in books and movie s is the illusion of male, not the reality. So get dressed in your ruffles Nick, all it will do is make you look silly. Kinda like me dressed as mutton dressed as lamb. Your not gonna look masculine and I aint gonna look young.

The fact is all men need women. Or prostitutes. Take your pick. Assuming you view prostitutes as people. All men fake it at some stage. All others are potential future rapists. If I was any more indifferent, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't exist. I like the bugs/fudd comparison, have you seen the episode of Family Guy where Elmer finally catches Bugs and snaps his neck? Thats pretty much my general feeling. If they're worth the chase, I'll give it to them, if they're not I will destroy them without mercy or exception. Fucking rabbits. Wheres the mixymitosis when you need it aye? The character of Jack Sparrow was based on Keith Richards, and that guy was alpha to the hilt. I believe thats check and mate. The actor without the script or the costume is weak, whipped and begging his ex to take him back.... that looks pretty needy to me. That is game, set and match on two points now. I don't recall mentioning James Bond although Daltry was a shitty choice. To me, Brosnan will always be Bond... then again, I loved Goldenye... that was classic. Keep in mind, most of classic Hollywood's earliest Alpha males were all packin the fudge' so I guess that kind of rips a new hole your point of reference. Judge a man not by what he says, rather how he acts and what he does. I do expect in time women will line up behind me due to my good looks, immense wealth and my limitless capcity of resource. Assuming the women are even civilized, or socialized properly in the ways of compliance and acts of submission to their intellectual and no doubt physical superior. I don't give a fuck about a woman's emotional needs. According to you, thats an aphrodisiac. In which case, I must be the perfect male specimen. Because I am completely indifferent and far too left brained to care about something as pedestrian as a woman's feelings... I was under the impression that women only say they have feelings to fuck with us men, although I could be wrong... in which case, still... not my problem. The fact of the matter remains that society is driven by the majority consumer, which in this instance is female. If female continues to perpetuate and buy into the stereotype, the archetype, the fantasy the illusion... then again, your point is completely mooted. That is three strikes. Collectively you are a part of thr problem, and you are a contributor by default of gender. Personally I'm all for reality, although tell that to any dumb cunt who thinks Fifty Shades is good erotica, let alone BDSM... that is laughable. Its this deluge of mummy porn that perpetuates the very stereotypes you claim to rage against - yet you are only one person and do not represent nor speak for the entire sample of your gender in the westernized civilized world. Isn't it women who always say they want a bloke who is down to earth with a good sense of humour? You're damn right the ruffles would look completely ridiculous and yes it would border on embaressing and humiliating, or it could diemonstrate and distinguish me from the pack as a superior male who by your admission clearly doesn't give a fuck. In your estimation indifference is sexy, ergo I am sexy. Using your logic. The difference is, I'm willing to get silly because I don't give a fuck. If I get turned down by some slut who has a gash the size of a football field for dressing like a pirate or a gyspy then I would probably be compelled to break her arm in seven places, because as you of all people should know, I don't tolerate civil disobedience from the likes of an entitlement mentality breeder who is neither intellectually, physicaolly or economically superior to me on any concievable plateau in any way. Just once I'd like to stick my dick in a woman who was prettier, smarter and richer than I am... although I sincerely don't see that happening. What you fail to take into account is that youth is guaranteed to fade. Femininity is an innate construct that unless you physically cut off a woman's breasts or circumsize her useless clitoris, you can't really take away her femininity... masculinity on the other hand, is not a fixed construct. If you want to discuss gender politics in relation to social role versus biological function I'm more than happy to do it... although at least get your facts straight, at least form some sort of cognet point of view or argument. How we went from Closeted homsexuals like Errol Flynn, James Dean and Rock Hudson (who were, by your standard... "masculine", gay but masculine) to fairy pretty boys like Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp is beyond me... but there you have it. The feminization of man for and by women. The question is, do I really give a fuck if I look silly? And do I really want to associate myself with suuch judgemental bitches in the first place? God knows you wouldn't dare waste time on a man that said you looked like a haggard fat cow would you? In all probability you would outright slap him. You really should learn how to construct a better, constructive argument or point of reference, as I'm sure even you realize that burden of proof lies on the accuser? You are pre-judging me, and weighing an action not yet committed against a preconcieved archetype of what is considered masculine by modern standards. Ergo, you are out of touch. yet again your point of view is sorely lacking in perspective. Get with the times will you? Join the rest of us in the 21st century. Your expectations, and your preconcieved notions of masculinity, masculine role and masculine identity are disgusting, rigid and sexist. Shame, shame shame. If you want to piss on two million years of natural selection, be my guest... just don't expect any sympathy from me. The very moral fabric of civilisation as we know it, is unravelling faster than either of us could cope with. The party's over and nobody wants to pick up the check. Its the end of mankind as we know it, with attitudes like yours... where's the value in logical, critical thinking? I fail to see it. You married a protector, an alpha because you wanted, and you needed to protected. Congratulations, you're an obsolete piece of farm equipment. You've identified a problem, or what you percieve to be a problem and as per usual, god forbid, I know you're only a woman.... you have failed to offer any sort of proactive solution let alone a constructive criticism or comment. That makes you incredibly judgemental, bigoted, and dare I say a slave to a cognitive bias. I mean for fuck sake, pick a side and stick with it. Unlike you, I actually have the guts to make myself look ridiculous. You on the other hand have indirectly admitted your condenscenion which I for one find rather humourous albeit typical. Maximum reward, smug feeling and little to no risk. How the hell do you do that? Apparently there is a polite way to say fuck you after all.... you really must teach me that some time. Apparently its a real skill, if you have tits and a slit.

Dearest Nick,Your knickers are in a knot over something so trivial and useless that I wonder exactly how intelligent you are.Surely a man of such high intellect as yourself wouldn't waste his time with such trivial matters? Seems to me that such discussion as that about Mr Darcy raises issues of insecurity within you.Perhaps your time would be better spent devising strategies to prevent terrorism or perhaps ways of simply shutting up Alan Jones? Thanks for the Sunday evening follies. Enjoyable indeed.Hugs, Saturn

Hi! BeingAdventurous Thanks for the Topic:) I think Darcey is so appealing because he does possess the qualities some would aspire to find in their Partners..As is shown some don't agree. It depends on our needs..However he is unattainable..If he were would we want him in our lives fulltime or rather sharing our warm bed reading and fantasizing about him in "Pride and Predgudice ". .I particularly like the fact that Elizabeth is a strong willed Woman with a mind of her own. How do Guys like those types of Women? Cheers Lu :)
