My Name Is...

May 06 2018

Names are our identity and how we are recognised in life. We have the names we are born with, the names we get to choose (legally through marriage, and name changes on RHP & other social media for eg), and then there are names we've been given, like nicknames. I hoped people would tell me a little about their history with names, without mentioning any inappropriately of course! Did you like the name you were born with? Do you have a long unpronounceable name or one that's a bit funny? Have you changed it at all? Are you happy with names you have chosen? What is it about them that suits you, or not? Did getting married to get rid of your awful maiden name? Was it a moment of pride to take on your partner's name? Did you hyphenate? Are you satisfied with the profile names you have, or did you have to settle because what you wanted just wasn't there? And nicknames, do you have any you love or hate? and How'd you get them?! Have you ever looked up the meanings of any of your names? Did they describe you or were they way off? Peachy, has known a fair few people who claimed their own identity by way of changing their names...

My RL christian name is not meant for me. However I am comfortable with it. Hated my married name. Now use my maiden. My maiden name has changed over the last few hundred years due to migration. Our original family name originating in Russia, changing in Turkey, then Macedonia and then again here in Australia. Like my name here in RHP land. Never has cause to change it. Come about by a typo tho. I have a few nick names, ranging from goddess to cuntess. 😜 - Posted from rhpmobile

Starts with "K" -- It is anglicized from it's Gaelic form, which does NOT contain any "K". My First name is Christianised to a form I do NOT particularly like either.. So, I abbreviated and bastardized it all. Others have called me a lot of things... Some good, some not so.. and I do not give a fuck. Here's the thing.. Everyone SHOULD have an individual name for us anyway, as No matter HOW they do see us, it is inevitably so far away from whom we REALLY are, a name is quite worthless.. We should just have a reference number like "The mark of the Beast".. 6 groups of 6 numbers individually identifying every person who ever has, does now and ever will live.. Just saying..

I really like my name :-) Constable is (obviously) English, as is Earl, although that part was just because my parents liked it. Dallas came straight from the baby name book, my parents have never been there and have no affinity for the place, and I was born before the television show, so I definitely wasn't named after that. My name stands out, quite often I get asked if that's my pornstar name lol, and I believe that after 42 years it's got pretty good reputation attached to it :-)

Are there names that you hate or love because of people you've known in your past, or present? Peachy

I love the christian name I was born with, except for the difficulty to spell and pronounce my last name. I didn't get to use it till my teens though, and then it was with a simple version of my first name which I've gotten down to three letters now, lol. The new surname from getting married gave me the everyday sort of name I'd always wanted. Nicknames? My favourite has to be the one I get to carry a card for (gifted after I earned it)... Beautiful Intelligent Talented Cunning Horny Cavey, 6 lines of 6? What would we call each other for short? Hawt1... Orange is the new black, Peachy

My family name originated from Macedonia--although today it is different in Australia- Why? When my old man immigrated, he could not speak or read English and the the official processing his paperwork misspelt his name(the old man could not read document) and it has not been rectified since.

My sister only call me my nickname which she gave me when I was a baby. My friends all shorten my name. You can only do that if I like you.

Has a direct linage to Robert The Bruce. First born male is always called Robert, this is still in play today as i have 3 brothers. Mum gets to choose the christian names of any other boys, and indeed those of girls plus their middle names. However the 1st/2nd/3rd/4tth etc boys also have particular middle names. These names are: Thomas Harcourt Stuart James Arthur Harrington So for shits and giggles, and given i'm not the first born. What is my middle name?

My profile name is taken from my middle name with an obvious twist... I used to go under the name alexxx but was unable to reclaim it after I left for a break... My real names aren't anything overly complicated to pronounce. But they are all rather long... First is 8 letters. Mifdle is 9 and last is another 8.... I have a couple of nicknames (other then ass, idiot and wanker).... That are pretty cool but don't really make sense unless you know the story behind them... Not going to mention them here though as that will link straight back to the worldly me... As for names I like (female ones) Cassie Samantha Sarah Amanda Jennifer Kateie They all just seem to bring to mind very beautiful images of people from past or present. Meh, off to daydream about beautiful people - Posted from rhpmobile

I have never been married so I have the same boring name I was born with. I did learn at one stage to not google my name though as it is the same as a porn star.

I don't like my given name, never have...It's common and in my opinion not feminine at all. I chose to keep my married name even after divorce, mainly for the kids, but also I wasn't fond of my maiden name and I am too lazy to change with every organization I deal with, lol. My profile name (yes, The Big Bang Theory - and Bazinga was not available) has stuck for years, I can't imagine changing it. Some people I have met on RHP still refer to me as Baz in real life which piques some of my vanilla friends' curiosity. I have a few nick names but each is significant to the people that use them.

When I was young I didn't like my name. Kerry is one of those unisex names and I would sometimes get teased and say I had a girls name. Even now I get people spelling it with an ie on the end when they know I am a guy. And then there is the mail addressed to Ms. Couldn't care less these days. It's just a name.

Is a very old European name but spelt with a twist, no doubt, my mothers influence When shortened which is what Australians automatically do to a name, my name is the same as a alcoholic drink My surname is Asian as my father is of Asian descent
