Firstly, merry Christmas and a fruitful new year to you. Glad you decided to stay in the forum. Travel is something I like to do and my work definitely requires that I be mobile, hence my hot and cold participation. But travel with my family is what I like most as it allows me to create memories with them. Something we can look back in years to come as we do now. But my boys have come to that age of going or doing things their own way or with their mates. 😔 time for me wean myself from them. I love travelling and immersing myself in any culture. I have lived in several Asian countries, US, Canada and some European countries, mainly for work. I like to learn to adapt and different cultures satiate my senses adventure and curiosity. My best experience was living in harsh winters of Canada (new survival skills) and also the intoxicating steamy lifestyle of the Big Easy, New Orleans. Music, food and laid back creole and Cajun lifestyle which is such q departure from typical American culture was a great surprise. Love it. And southern men are hot. Haha 😂 Whatever you plan and do in the future, I wish you the best and safe travels. Like anything else, preparation is the key. Both from culture research and financial planning so you can enjoy the experience the most. Best wishes.

I've had no desire to travel up until now and now it's like a physical craving. 2017 sees me planning to hit Scotland. First I need a passport. I am planning on going alone which is both exciting and daunting. I'm quite an introvert and had issues in the past with some social anxiety but this is something I feel I have to do.

I hope you also had a lovely break! Time to get into party mode again for NYE! I was going to have a quiet one, but it appears to be a busy one for me now. I have done a lot of reflecting over the past few months. I was in the same position only 3 years ago on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, self development and now just wanting to break the pattern. The pattern worked well for a little while but the end is near :P Forums are great! I rave about it to all my friends because I think there is a wealth of knowledge, experience and opinions. If you can withstand the risk of speaking your mind, then the rewards on the other side seem quite good. I have been looking for a great forum so... here I still am ;) hooked on the debates - thanks to everyone being so great and understanding finally. No hard feelings :) life is too short to be negative and regretful! - Posted from rhpmobile

@MissB4u Life is so beautiful and needs to be explored! I support you travelling alone! You meet so many more people and have no choice but to come out of your shell. I did :) hostels were great. I should try couch surfing but it's a bit more difficult to build my profile. Meeting so many wonderful acquaintances and friends. @LilyOrchid I could only imagine travelling for work being quiet tiring! But your experiences sound amazing! I def want to try to make it back to Vegas, Mayan Riviera, some other beautiful beaches around the world, American wonders like YellowStone, Antelope Canyon and some more of Asia. I loved South America but not being able to speak the language is quite difficult, unless you have a friend who's local 😄 gosh! My excitement levels just went through the roof hahaha - Posted from rhpmobile

I highly recommend China/HK/Vietnam/Cambodia. All so varied, friendly, full of history and culture, plus it's always fun muddling through a new language! Personally I'm starting my own business this year! Kicking off Jan/Feb will be Perspectiv aerial (drone) photography/cinematography. It's been a few years in the making but almost ready to go 😄 - Posted from rhpmobile

2017 is looking great, travel wise for me. I have several trips coming up, within Australia and overseas. In fact, I'm heading overseas (near future) with several RHPs friends to relax, pamper and just spoil ourselves. This should be...FUN!!! 😇😈 Another RHP friend will be travelling with me to attend a wedding in Pakistan. Can't wait for this cultural experience! One of my friends just became an Australian citizen. So, a suprise trip is on the agenda to attend their ceremony. I dare say, Australia Day is looking good, due to timing of application and all that. We are just waiting on confirmation date. I can't wait to travel overseas with them (again), just so we can get excited using their passport. It's been a journey for them, to get here. :) The travel bug sure is addictive. So much, my passport is getting full and my QFF points is building up. If I use them wisely, more trips ahead. Happy Travels, Ms Foxy

I don't know how you do that :P I have to plan something in my life even if just the skeleton plan with a plan B and possibly a plan C. I have to look forward to something otherwise I wake up and feel lost :( Even a computer game and making friends online can be a reason for a period of time to wake up... gotta keep the mind active :) but it's cool to just flow like water ☺️ - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Nothereforlong75'Personally I'm starting my own business this year! Kicking off Jan/Feb will be Perspectiv aerial (drone) photography/cinematography. It's been a few years in the making but almost ready to go 😄 cool, how'd you go with your ReOC and RePL? I've been holding back since it wasn't essential, and waiting for the dust to settle after the 2kg changes - but now they're starting to let night time and BVLOS, I think it's time. Would you mind saying who you went through (and if you'd recommend them)? My plans are up in the air for next year (somewhat pun intended, in a related note to Nothereforlong) but I love flying, travel will be to Italy in mid-june, a stack of trips to NZ and hopefully a couple to Hawaii - I'd really like to get off Oahu and see some of the other islands this time.

@S_OntheLoose Italy is my fave country by far, so rich in history and traveling through the countryside by train was so inspiring, a crazy idea came to my head to write a book... and um I don't write... are you kidding me?!?! That's how much it took me into fantasy land... cinque Terre, Amalfi coast, Venice, Florence, Rome, Lake Como (although I would recommend Switzerland or Slovenia for lakes) and Pisa (just for the novelty of taking a photo of all the tourists taking photos and making ridiculous poses holding, eating, licking or karate kicking the leaning tower all in a line hahahaha) I ate gelati everyday without fail, O.M.G. Switzerland is the most picturesque and relaxing, albeit a little boring if you aren't there for the snow or extreme sports (which Interlakenhoheweg is known for). I just wanna go back but ouchy hip pockets!!! - Posted from rhpmobile

To those that have already had their trips booked and organised. I am truly envied of yours travel/holiday plans 😊 2017 for me is primarily focusing on giving my parent an even better care + more understanding of her type of illness (so that I can handle the emotional side of challenges even better), as well as hoping to see my parent suffers less! The rest I'll keep it open for what the year has in store for me, and that includes my newly found loving relationship ☺️ which I hope will continue to bloom, as he is a keeper, but my parent comes before my life! So, good luck to me 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

Congratz! I hope you have a clear vision and obsession for what you do! All the best for the rocky road ahead! I hope you conquer and prosper :D When talking about 3rd world countries and not knowing the language, I'd be very wary going off the beaten track, especially a lone female. Even in Bogotá and of all the airports I've been to, it was the most chaotic and leaving the country was nuts. I didn't know you had to line up to get a stamp to say you're not coming back. So I lined up in 2 queues and then they couldn't find my ESTA visa to fly back to the USA. It was horrendous! But it was 2010 :P Also the fact that I wouldn't leave the hostel without a friend who could speak Spanish. Lots of stabbings and crime still, although Colombia is now a very beautiful country with beautiful people. Did get to Villa De Leyva. Absolutely worth it! Got scammed in Bangkok. So many tourist traps. Would love to go to Vietnam, China, Korea and Japan... Laos is beautiful, but I'm still so drawn to exy Europe 😓 - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'FlyGirlC' Super excitement! On the topic of RHP friends, I'd love to try some swinger hotels with a friend 🤔 although I wonder how safe it is... has anyone been to some overseas? Meet some exotic people? allegedly, from a friend of a friend, I've 'heard' of 'people' Hotel Eve in the nudist town Cap d'Agde year before last after driving down from Toulouse via Carcassone ("Why's it so damn crowded?! whats that sign say 'Bastille Day'... oops"). Perfectly safe but "interesting" would be one way to describe the town, and clubs like Le Glamour. Also amusing is "if you're naked you sit on a towel, common courtesy" but if you're wearing just a fishnet dress "you're not nude so the rule doesn't apply". Did the Cinque Terre hike between the villages this year - I preferred it to Venice, Rome or Paris (Paris tops my list as "most bleh city" - awful city and CDG is the worst of the worst). I'd like to go see some of the islands in the med. Tried to get over to Ibiza but the timing didn't work so Cinque Terre instead.

- Sell big fancy house, downsize to something modest, minimise mortgage, stress less, live more! - Maybe Japan this year. Been to Europe, UK & USA all several times, it's time to visit non-western countries. Watched Joanna Lumley's Japan, it looks amazing. - A few large and interesting building engineering projects at work which will keep me busy through 2017. - Kick my general health & fitness up a notch including more home cooked meals. - Posted from rhpmobile

I'm about to do an airport run, to pick up a gorgeous RHP peep. I can't wait! Super excited. 🙌 Airports are great to people watch. Now, that I'm living in the city in a spacious apartment, I can't wait to show them around southeast QLD and what my home town has to offer. One or two days might be staying in bed. That's ok too. 😇 Any place can be perfect, I believe if you have awesome company, it can take you anywhere. Ms Foxy

@S Yeah I agree... I looked at prices and an average swingers hotel in Cancun is at least $500/night...kkk pass. Think of much better ways to spend my time and money, like reversal of carbon footprint projects :P Playa Del Carmen was the best... memories :) tequila so cheap and good, swimming with dolphins, touching the slimey manatees lol swimming in a sting ray pool and swimming down in a life jacket to chase one and touch it (oh yeah - got ya!), have yet to swim in a shark pool :O and actually go scuba diving somewhere. Bucket liiiiiiist! Xel-Há - the massive water park built on natural surroundings. :'( reminds me how I missed out on the Cinque Terre hike because it was raining and dangerous to walk. *Envy* I'm too old to party in Ibiza and then beach all day... but omg maybe not :P Oh the pebble beaches, ouchies... at least they serve you alcomahol on da beach! I so cherish our white fine sand beaches, but not enough shallowness for clear blue water. Dreamy islands... I get so sick of travelling to yet another city to look at yet another building. *yawn oh and outside the Vatican the going price for a 500mL coke was €4.50 back in 2010, no thanks - I'll rough it out. Sistine Chapel was awe-inspiring. I have a naughty moment to remember, even though the ceiling painting is all over the interwebs. It's different to have your own 😋 you know nothing Jon Snow... ;P - Posted from rhpmobile

So much positivity! Its great to read all your comments after what has been a not so good year. Im a bit like Q, tend not to plan so much as my life so far has been full of "the unexpected" but 2 things are on my list, visiting family in Scotland and Ireland at the end of next year and also, househunting with my guy as we are looking for a place where we can accommodate our children and visiting family and friends. To anyone visiting Scotland, its the most beautiful place with friendly people. Google images of Plockton, and you will see that we actually have palm trees. But there are so many picturesque spots to see, far too much to go into here. I hope you all enjoy your travels and projects. Mr Luvs....you would like where I work! Im forever taking photos of the classic cars that are in our carpark every day. Happy travels! xx

You don't have to wait until the new year. Issues can be quite complex, especially involving other people. Hugs to you and hope things will get better too. Is there something you can work on to take your mind off the issues? A hobby that might make you happy? :) That's the only thing I can do in situations like that - stop myself getting too sad/guilty over it. All the best xo - Posted from rhpmobile

I've recently inherited the management of my department at work and I'm looking at a tough, but hopefully rewarding, six months while I bring the place up to it's potential now that the incompetent narcissist who was in charge for the past 5 years is gone - Ding Dong and all that. On a more personal level, I intend to keep up with the personal trainer I started working with this year. I'm excited about just how strong I can get. The increase in my strength and fitness in just the past 2 months is already quite impressive.

So many awesome plans! You lot are really stepping up and stepping out 😊 I don't have many plans yet....other than finish some study I am doing, and maybe finish the renovation work and sell my stupidly big house. Freeing up some cash would mean I might contemplate chucking everything in storage and going on a road trip...no firm destination, just see where the roads take me. I want a year to love, to laugh, to live. 2017 may just be that year.

Just started a new job... which is technically my old job... made redundant in 2013 (Thanks Campbell Newman). Had plans to go to Comicon in 2017 but will kick it back to 2018 now. Been itching to go for years now. Would also love to go to Bora Bora. Been to the Maldives in 2004 for my honeymoon with the ex wife. Most relaxed Ive ever been in my life. Going to be living on the Brisbane river as of Jan 7th. Thats a bucket list thing Ive always wanted to do and will be moving into a mates apartment in the Admiralty Quays until early May. I'm attempting to homeschool my daughter in 2017 for at least a semester for various reasons. It could be a great experience for us both to spend more time together, or we could make the evening news. Either way, it's a huge change for us and I'm looking forward to a break from doing the school run 😉

The licensing and testing is a little painful, mostly because very little of it relates to flying a drone. I studied with a business in Kiama, but honestly I'd almost say it's a waste of time (they do help with a couple of small things that are needed though i.e. radio operators certificate). I ended up buying a text book and studied that bad boy for months...the test isn't easy, took me 4 goes! But you may well pick it up quicker than I did!

(And no way I'm taking a heavy lifter out just to get shots of a nude beach when I could just hire a kayak or a dingy - or anything that doesn't sound like a flying chainsaw death machine) People think it's like a mini version of Blue Thunder in whisper mode will be floating there with a telephoto lens.

I'm a new project this year. It's time to be selfish. I want to enjoy my independence and freedom, go out more, live more, enjoy more, laugh more. I want to re-visit some fun experiences I haven't had for years too. I'm also hoping to move on up the career ladder and obtain some permanency. But it's also the year I'll finally get my long service leave, so I'm planning to take 3 months off and travel too. A cruise is on the cards, as well as a road trip up the east coast. Most of all, I guess I'm looking for inner peace and happiness again. Maybe I'll find some of that in a man, or even another woman. Who knows? Life is an adventure and I'm hoping I still have time left to find it and live it.

After 2015 and 16 and the lows, and complete life shifting events I've come through I've decided 2017 is my year to regroup and have the pray and love part of my journey start after eating my way through the past years. I'm enrolling into a tesol course and heading to Asia in April to teach English for 6 months or until I decide to come home. I was planning to go earlier but my boyfriend surprised me with a cruise to New Caledonia in March. So hoping for a year of sun, swimming, and exploring then back to university in 2018 - Posted from rhpmobile
