  Australian television grew up when channel 10 ran Number 96. Back in those days it was compulsory viewing for almost everybody. The nudity was shockingly fascinating as it was something we never thought would grace our screens. The casting was good . Abigail boobs did the show no harm and the sticky beak " why wasn't I told " Dorie Evans " and her poor old hen pecked hubby Herb . Don came out of the closet while one of the lady residents was trying to root him . Aldo had the delicatessen and had a geeky offsider with the glasses. Great television for its time.

  But never got to watch it. Wasnt allowed and it was on past my bedtime anyway. It made Abigail a household name as australias sex symbol. And Joe Hasham played the first gay role on telly, I think? But I heard all about it from my school friends who had cool parents who let them watch it. Lol

  Well I have 6 sisters (all 1 year gap between us ) all of us mischevious .. Parents where Irish Catholics say no more We we're never allowed to watch but would all hide up the hallway sneaking a peak and telling each other what we saw.   dont even remember if we had tv at that time as we were in bed by 7pm... i may have been too young. i watched reruns of skippy and young talent time. I think I fell in love with Joey, the young Italina stalion and Tina Arena was my fav. But that is a different matter. Lol So No, I dont remember any boobs and so. I read and watched segments on tv this week about it and it was indeed a pioneer at its zenith. WRT to teaching you about sex, now we know who to blame. Just kidding.

  Abigail trying to shag Don Finalyson (stately homo of number 96)On the couch rubbing his junk, she moves to the bedroom and there in black and white we get to see the first pair of bared breasts on Aus TV, a formidable pair of knockers.It almost split the Ausssieverse in half, the moral outrage was palpable and many a finger was dislocated from over wagging. Don was breaking out in a cold sweat, because you know, homo men break out in a sweat and mortal fear at even the sign of a bare boob.Or it least that was what it suggested.For a long time I thought gay men where scared shitless of boobs.   Back then I'd be hard and horny with a glimpse of grainy black and white nudity or just seeing Abigail's tits bounce. And it certainly aroused my curiosity about a few then hardly mentioned sexual carryings on. Now I need Viagra and hours of hard core porn even to get slightly aroused!   When that came on TV I started wanting to know everythingas I loved the female form {Abigail }.That was not the be all as I started reading everything and bought mags with my paper round money.By the time I was 17 I knew more than the sex ed teacher or my mateshowever I was picky on what girls I had sex with.By 19 I started to DJ and became a root rat and it was around 28 thatI started to use all the stuff I had read, don't figure..LOL.

  "No' 96" ran from 1972 to 1977 and there was "The Box" too, a sort of copycat series which ran from 1974 - 1977. Dates obtained from google. ;-).I watched them both lol! Yes, my age is genuine. .You're right about the sexual issues Number 96 featured, one of the things they are remembered for is daring to approach the topic of gay men if I remember rightly. So many images scooting through my mind, lol. One of the first soapies that gripped my, imagination way back when before TV guidelines. .Peachy
