Obstacle Racers!!!

March 22 2013

Hello all, just wanted to see who has been biten by the new craze in challenging your fitness. Testing your abilities in the obstacle races??   So far we have tried one 10k run out with the stampede last year, it was lots of fun and very dirty, and yes tested our ability. Now we want more dirty and more challenging, so we have signed up for the tough mudder and also thinking about the spartan race. We were pretty disappointed they cancelled the zombie escape challenge for Brissy due to venue issues as Mr is really into the Walking Dead right now LOL and in this race you have to out run the zombies while over coming obstacles.   I (Mrs) still have a lot of fear doing these races as the first one I did, on the big hill slide that was about 50m long you end up in a big mud bath at the bottom and a man about 110kg going at a speed of about 50k down the slide landed on my upper thigh, I still cant believe he didnt snap my leg in half.   There is something about the fear factor of pushing your own personal limits that is such a turn on for us, oh and the fact you get to roll around in mud haha! And lets just say the competition is usually pretty attractive.   Perhaps one of these races could make for an intersting RHP meet n greet day   Anyone else got the bug???

Well hello there Randies. Yes we do about every fun run there is and the obstacle courses. The Last one we did was Warrior Dash in the mud and rain and the next one coming up for us is Spartan race. We will keep an eye out for your guys.

are always a bit of a challenge for me too OP,but after I have finished with 'em they are no longer the walking dead. That's why I call all my lovers Lazurus.

As the bloke half of Madmanx I am yet to do one but had some friends do last year and seriously considering attempting Tough Mudder.my only challenge is that I don't particularly want to do it alone and I don't know anyone else who is doing it.and before anyone asks I am pretty sure there is zero chance of the female half of this house attempting it. She is certainly fit enough to give it a damn good shot but has about as much interest as she does in my 4wd or rock climbing. (meaning zero, lol)So yes if there is anyone around here that is looking for a training partner ....??

Bill n Natasha, yeah these races are a lot of fun and add something extra then just the everyday fun run, its great how complete strangers can help you overcome any of the obstacles you get stuck on, we will keep an eye out for you both in the mud pits also!!   Madmanx, you sould look into bootcamps or crossfit in your area most of the time these groups have a team of people keen to join up and do these kind of challenges, if you were closer you could have trained with us, Mr and I are planning on starting regular trail running in preparation as the hardest part of these races is not the obstacles but the steep inclines and one massive hill after the other!   Freeya I personally have a thing for vampires lol

...I used to do many years ago in Cadets, although over much longer distances.About 6 weeks ago, I quit smoking, and about 5 weeks ago I started running three times/week. A goal for later this year is to tackle The Stampede, over the 5km distance. For the moment, I'm contemplating having a crack at the Mother's Day Classic (I know, not much mud there....unless it rains on the day..) if the planets align and I feel I can cope with it. Also if I can get the day off work..

Just wonder if its the same sort of adrenalin rush as jumping up out of bed and bolting for the exit door , hurdling coffee tables in a single bound in the dark while trying to dress yourself at the same time.....Possibly dodging bullets... Because her husband has come home early

I have a story posted on another thread somewhere... I got invited to a girls places in Perth a lot of years ago.. When I walked in .. there was MAN stuff around.. but, I didn't ask.. We were a bit bit drunk..and naked.. when HE came back.. Dunno where he had been..and any details.. didn't care..   I WAS NOT going to run.. so.. when he came in.. I was naked on his couch.. drinking one of his beers. (from memory... might have been one I brought with me)   HE WENT OFF.. I said something along the lines of "Fella.. I got invited here.. if the lady wasn't supposed to do that, you have an issue with her.. Don't make it personal with me.. When she askes me to leave, I will go"   Could of turned out bad... :)   They both looked at each other.. then she snapped at me to go.. I skulled the drink.. got dressed.. even TIED my boots.. while the two of them watched..   I thanked her for the night..and him for the beer..   Man.. I would have LOVED to been a fly on the wall back in that room..   Being big and angry looking SOEMTIMES works in favour
