On the subject of BOOBIES

January 22 2013

With all the hoo haa right now about breast feeding :-) where do you stand? Should a woman be made to feed her baby in a toilet so as not to offend? How old should a child be before it is offensive? Should women be more discrete? Should men just accept it and get over it?

I breastfed all my four publicly and didn't give a rats ass what anyone thought and to be honest, nobody appeared to give a rats ass about what I was doing. However, this was in WA where there isn't the same level of multi culturalism. I'm pretty sure if I was breast feeding in the middle of Broadmeadows shopping centre in Melbourne I would get a few dirty looks. I made my stand about a week after my first child was born and I was at a family function. I was sitting on the couch in the living room and went to breastfed my son and my MIL said 'wouldn't you prefer to go upstairs and do that?' and I said 'no I would prefer to feed him here so I don't miss out on the conversation' Not another word was said :)- Posted from rhpmobile

I breastfed 4 babies, and I'm proud to say "I did it anywhere!" someone once told me in a shopping centre foodcourt I should be sitting in the babies changeroom, at that time they were little more than a chair in the corner of the toilet... I told this woman (as politely as I could) "go eat your lunch in the toilet." I became a master of getting the boob out with not so much as a nipple in sight. I remember sitting at the desk of a real estate agent to sign some papers, breastfeeding on demand, (early days when bubs can't keep up with supply) and squirting all over the paperwork and the estate agent... had to really stifle my giggles. Ah well was only a real estate agent... Boobs were made for feeding babies, get over it uptight people.

Here in Byron Bay , it is a common site to see women Breast Feeding. Considering we've all been there , I can't see why there is any problem. My son fed from more than one Rack on occasion . I figure it's time to look at weaning when the child starts biting .- Posted from rhpmobile

breast feeding women should be confined to quarters, not allowed out in public until the child is two. It is a well documented fact that the slightest flash of a breast or nipple in public will send those ravaging beasts..ie MEN, on uncontrollable lustful rampages in shopping malls across the nation. Why imagine the cost, how many more security guards will be needed?Where will these priapic mammarianly fueled, at risk offenders be housed? Will every shopping centre be required to create large cages to cater to this impending disaster? PUT THOSE BOOBIES AWAY NOW.

I have heard women complain about mothers breastfeeding in public, in fact i don't think i personally know any males that would complain about a mother breast feeding in public. I find it a little off that a mother would have to go in to a toilet to breastfeed.

I Have had 5 beautiful kiddies and fed them all I do believe there are ways of discreetly feeding say your out for dinner with bubs you really dont need to hang it out infront of everyone, but the staring and glares I got mainly from the upper class business woman who either havent had a baby or never wants to they were the ones I used to just smile at and say you got no idea.Having two tiny prems turn into little fatties within a couple months was so rewarding.Tribal woman have been doing it for centuries and over here todays society are stuck up they cant comprehend such behaviour lol it really is a joke.Woman get those tits out whether for your child or man Heres a toast to boobies I love them.Talking on boobies Im off to do my research on a new pair ;)

Sorry I tried getting into this yesterday as was told it was gone. Sorry for my whinge RHP :-) I've breast fed all my babies and and I never had any problems at all. Breast feeding isn't something that bothers me as long as its discrete and I think that is most of the problem that people have. Discretion. If you're at home you can hang your boobs out and do it however you please but when you're out and about and I think a lot of women need to remember that.....I totally agree with NOT feeding on a bus. That's just stupid!!! As for squirting milk. God those things are uncontrollable sometimes hahaha

I breastfed mine in public and it gets down to a fine art after a while. I can walk around the shopping centre, breastfeeding and have not a soul see a skerrick of skin. What is the big deal? These same people look at porn, go to nudie beaches, oggle the girlies in thier skimpy shorts. We have our luinch in public, why cant the baby? A nipple is made out of the same stuff that is on the back of your hand after all...skin is only skin.

Breasts are purpose built for feeding babies, any sexual connotation that springs to mind when someone sees a naked one getting ready to go in a baby's mouth comes from their own inappropriate imaginings and they should be ashamed at their own lack of self control and society in general for creating a taboo around a harmless bit of flesh.

... offensive is that this is even an issue :-/ I believe nursing mums have a fundamental right to feed their child any time and anywhere. Why would you deny a hungry baby just because you are in a public place, or travelling on public transport. The notion saddens me greatly. KK xx

Any of my bubs. So when I see a mum breast feed in public I get the warm fuzzies. It is one of the most beautiful things to see. No need to be discreet at all for me ... We eat publicly, why can't babies? (and they often have better table manners!)

Good reply on post Sim 114 Breast feed anywhere you like. Breast feeding isn't sexual . Well as a male I dont find it sexual. Women's breasts can be sexual but not in that context. Ever sat in the maternity ward at the hospital and watch the new mums with their cracked and sore nipples trying to get their milk to flow and said to yourself oh yea baby thats sexy.

You ladies would feed your babies on public transport? You don't think that's a bit dangerous with the bus jerking about. Stopping and starting all the time? Personally I find that pure stupidity.....my daughter has mastered going around the supermarket feeding her little fella. She gets some funny looks doing it lol I must say that's not something I ever managed to master myself lol

I often see nursing mothers on buses. Not a problem at all. Think maybe you need better (ahem) bus drivers where you live ;-) KK xx

Quoting frannaman...I think the main problem is women complaining . What makes me mad thogh is that when a woman breastfeeds its a sight that most men just have to glare at...like ya gunna give them a lap dance once your finished bub..the glaring and staring is not good guys move on and for those who complain dont look or worry its not your boob anyway so move on.

I breastfeb my second child until she was two and refused to disappear anywhere....the only place I just couldnt was when I was visiting a friend in jail....lol....I extracted for the first time ever as I knew I wasnt going to get the boob out in front of some horny boys and she refused the bottle. She had to wait that day.The funniest thing I saw recently was a woman in full Burka feed her baby in public??? I will not show my body or hair but baby must be fed...that one did puzle me.

I've even been known to pull the car over and sit in the back as well as walking down the middle of Queen St mall. I'm wasn't about to huddle off into a corner, I had stuff to doLike others, I'm confused this is even an issue. Who honestly has an issue with breastfeeding? Maybe they have an issue with some of the 'hippies' and their ideas around parenting but it's not about breastfeeding, it's about zealotsMrsSplicey
