profiles state that they are attracted to intelligence, this is one way for some people to show their smarts.Of course it doesn't mean they are emotionally intelligent,it simply means they have a degree or two in their chosen field. Perhaps it does put them at a slight advantage, who knows.

Most people like people just like them. For a quick physical encounter it doesn't matter too much, but even then most people will be looking for people of a similar age and physical attributes. Many however do not get aroused without some conversation and intellectual foreplay. Being university educated definitely does not guarantee interesting conversation any more than not having a degree makes one boring or boorish. It is however an attribute that contributes to the whole package, just like height, hair colour and sexual preferences.Mrs C simply wont jump in the sack with anyone that cant hold an interesting conversation (although I've never heard her ask for a resume). I'm a little more flexible, but if you asked me about my fantasy date it would be Kari Byron well ahead of any of the standard movie stars. Each to their own as they say.Mr C

I find the 'professional' statement a turn off. Especially in Sydney it's likely to mean our values aren't well aligned. Sure, be professional, but value more than what your address is and the car you drive.- Posted from rhpmobile

On what it is you are looking for. Like minded people may wish to know that you are a professional so that they can find a common interest...something to talk about. If it was just a random, one off, chance meet then there is no problems.

I mention something about studying....I then qualify it by further stating that I cannot recall any of it. It is not about boasting - it is, however, just a piece of info - a glimpse of one aspect of who I am. It means nothing...Danny xx

It never even crossed my mind to list my uni degrees or qualifications....that might have something to do with making a conscious decision to forget about my HECS debt (d'oh, i just remembered it). But i will now indulge in the opportunity to publicly state that i am studying the contents of my mind and i am engaged in a lifelong phd of kindness at the international university of love. And "I AM" a fully qualified, professional cuddler. Ive got all the hugging techniques down pat. And yes i am responsible for random group cuddles in public places and yes, rumours are true...i do cuddle strangers if it looks like they need one. And yep....its quite likely i will embarass you in public. But if you join in with my sillybuggery it will be all on with us!! ;-)

Im Uni educated and then some..I dont have it on my profile..because for a random one off, it hardly does matter, but if more was to develop then yes I would prefer to meet with someone that does somewhat come from the same educational and socio economic background as me -and history has shown me, that for me this works best. Theres no snob value it in..like usually attracts like and usually there is more common ground - however my friends and lovers have ranged in many careers....and Uni education in Australia is completely different from where I come from OS which is geared towards Ivy League (now theres status/snobbery for you and yes Im Ivy League - Columbia) Where you are educated opens many doors for you in the US and the UK - it really does matter but not so much here. I met a guy recently - he won me over not on looks but his funny witty lines, quirkiness, and intellectual banter...I hit the jackpot because he was damn cute and pretty good in the sack department as well...but what I remember most about that nite (ok a small lie) was all the conversing on a broad range of topics - I had been starved of late for stimulating conversation - yeah yeah he stimulated me in other ways as well- but it was refreshing My bestie..has never worked ... finished school in year 9 and is a stay at home Mum of 3 and yet is one of the most intelligent well read and versed people Ive ever met and has street smarts to boot - not to mention funny as I make no apology for my professioanl background..god knows Ive worked hard enough and sacrficed way beyond for the love of my chosen field (not too mention a massive HECCS debt.) .and low and behold Ive just re enrolled back into Uni again- methinks Im now a professional student)....and trust me I dont drive a fancy car...or have a fancy address.....some of us do our profession for other reasons than money Education as Mischevious said...it is no different than any other form of advertising one puts on their profile to sell themselves..............and lets face it ..how many people are truely their profile ???

A Professional on my Profile....I don't have any uni degrees however I am a "professional' in my line of employment and not only that, I like to think I have some sort of value out there being long term with a stable career.I am a Professional because...* I am well respected by peers* Am seeked for my advice and knowledge from Managers and those above* Support and Train new people..* Know my role and what I do.* Enjoy and love what I do.These are just a few things that make me A Professional in my eyes....No way will I be with someone unemployed...I will not financially support someone if they have been unemployed for a period of (chosen) time.I've worked my little but off to get to where I am financially today.I don't put it there to boast more like status to be around people with some sort of education and career. Some people I know with UNI Degrees are boring as bat-sh*t - know alls with no personalities!!! *yawning ZZZZZZZ*

Putting degree or Professional on a profile is certainly different to putting mows lawns. A friend of mine can vouch for this. I believe there is good and bad in any field.

...actually list uni degrees in a profile, it makes me laugh a bit for both all of the wrong and right reasons simultaneously. The first line in mine says that I'm a blue collar professional, which I am now...but the mystery could just be in what that really means and depending on your view, something or nothing.Think about a dentist who spends all that time and money just to end up working in your saliva and scares the hell out of most of us or worse, the proctologist that works with real assholes. I'm more about the person, not the profession...and degrees don't impress me much. I like to think that whilst I have been a student, I'll continue on as an academician throughout and during my own life...studying in observation learning more about myself and those around me.Of course if it happens to be anatomy...let's do a bit of in depth research together and discuss our findings.......passionately, forget the professional stuff.

If people list their degrees or the fact they are professionals because they are looking for like-minded people, I get it. Otherwise it is indeed just advertising, which does nothing for me. Then again, it beats the mentioning of Mensa or Rotary Club memberships.

Maybe they feel havent got much going for them otherwise/ are very proud of their qualifications and demand certain respect based on that?

believe that it will make them more appealing to put down that they are professional then, as an extreme example, a manual labour. Regardless of what we may say to the contrary, there is a "perception by many" yes both male and female, that the professional, uni educated person is going to be more "successfull", have more disposible income, have a nicer car etc etc, and can then indulge us in our desires more so then the percieved lesser educated, struggleing other type. We are all on here promoting ourselves chasing the same thing, and we want gratification from the nicest speciman we can get our hands on. Many dont realise it, god knows how, but at the end of the day, if we lie, we will be caught out. These days, the education or the occupation does little for me, yes some but it isnt the driver it use to be.

I pity people who have the need to list their resume on their profile. They’re obviously trying overcompensate for feeling insecure about themselves, which is sad. For me to connect, I require someone with intelligence, but not necessarily a high intellect. I have met many people with a high intellect, who take themselves seriously; and quite frankly, they have been some of the most mind numbingly boring people to cross my path. Give me someone who is self deprecating any day.....life’s too short to be a knob.

Nothing after my name.. Left school once I turned 14 for family reasons.. Thrown into the workforce (factories )til 18 , then landed a contract playing football for 14 years , once retired went into Consulting Management.. and these days run a successful business,, blah blah blah. I could go on. Surely this must make me a professional something.. I have a awards for footy' a small business certificate and thats it ?Everything I learnt came from life experiences not from school and definately not from uni but have a good deal of everyday common sense. But would I still have lunch with the so called pro set, Yes, even though they might feel inferior.. lol....

Thanks for the responses guys, there have been some interesting perspectives. And yes Tantriclove69, I too have developed a certain amnesia regarding my HECS debt LOL! I get the common ground idea, however, degree qualifications are on such vastly different disciplines that it may be difficult to find something in common with you. Great discussion!

You 'pity' me because I make a random reference to my old Uni days.......you were so accurate in your view - I simply feel inadequate and insecure....thankyou for helping me realise this. You are simply amazing.

I have a daughter.... She went back to school... to study art....!! I asked her why??? She wanted an Arts Degree... I pondered this... then said.... "Out of curiosity Daughter..... Do you know the Politically Correct manner in which to adress a person who holds a DOUBLE Arts Degree??" She was INTERESTED... Enthusiastically CURIOUS... So I told her!! "Hi there! I will have a Big Mac with Fries please" I guess she WAS justified in her Politically INcorrect reply and declarations!

Left school when you were 14 hey Jay_me? Pfffftt.....luxury. Back in my day we could only dream about schools. My dad used to kick us out of our shanty at half past three every morning to clean out our neighbours septic tank before they woke up. We had to roll the contents in grass and feed it to our family. We had to lick the side of the road just to get our mineral intake. On the weekends our dad would poke us in the eyeballs with a sharpened stick just for entertainment. But we were happy and we didnt complain. Try telling that to young kids today....they won't believe ya.

Was really 13 but close enough to 14. WOW what a woman. ? anyone who gets up at 3.00 am to roll crap in the grass must be a real mans woman.. I had a dog called 'Sam' once who used to go out and do the same .. Didnt realise it might have been your humble shanty Didnt have a dad , so no poking of sticks in the eye for me' but my mum was inventive and used to cut the bottoms outta our pockets so we had something to play with.. For years I thought all pockets came that way... ?Hey ' was that you down on your hands and knees at the side of the road ? I thought you were another one of them friendly country girls showing country hospitality.. ? Apparently , I took that ' I love mountain woman ' sign the wrong way.. sorry.. will know better from next time... Jay

The listing of a degree and professional standing means that a person is probably interested in a are much more discrete association and sensitive to exposure. They have a higher risk function in their profession and potentially have much to loose if associated. If you can accept being more discrete without judging them or imposing on their success in life you can probably be their friends. Economic and professional success is sensitive. It is a subject to social judgement and taboo. Something that is hard for may people to appreciate. Funny stuff...social organization and structure. Cheers!

I don't mind folks listing their qualifications. I like intelligent guys who can hold a conversation. I don't make up my mind according to what they list as their qualifications, but on how they write and what they are saying.

I guess everyone is guilty of snobbery or being a bit up themselves in some way such as, we are Professional and or Very Attractive but when people go to the trouble of writing it in their profiles it's a big turn off for us... All that realy matters, to us anyway, is that we find the other person/people sexually arractive which is the reason we are on here in the first place....:-) A&AXXX

I really do not understand what the point of this forum topic is all about. I can cook, use a lawn mower, handle an iron, hang washing out and so on and on......... People are free to say whatever they want to say about themselves, just as I have. It's mind numbing that people are perplexed about what other people wish to write about themselves. : - )- Posted from rhpmobile

about a degree does say you think people will be attracted to your application and education. I didn't go back to formal schooling till I was 36, most of my training was on the job out of high school at 16. As a bloke I had the chance to lift heavy things for a living and while that is an honest living it can be short if you get a back injury. Now I have a degree I can do the sort of work that interests me and it pays me well. How ever I don't say I can look down my nose at some who doesn't have a uni education just because I do. Thats idiotic.... Mike

Stating that they are professional people is a somewhat acceptable because it is more about describing the type of personalities that they are than bolstering opinions of their intellect. But, announcing what numerous degrees they have is straight up pointless bullshit and leads me to think that they are probably very insecure of themselves and their abilities to show their intelligence through their writing/talking I don't have any degrees because I always get half way through and then get bored. I'm well smarts though and I don't even need your opinion of that. Hehehe- Posted from rhpmobile

Finished in the top 5% of the state for High School... Still ended up as a forklift driver.Education and grades mean nothing, school/college/universities are just daycare centers for people who aren't ready for the real world.
