Perth Events & Clubs.

August 20 2016

Is it just me or are the Perth 'Events & Clubs' becoming too commercialised? I mean, local Clubs are one thing but there seems to be many 'Businesses' advertising 'Events'.

They've always had them in events - there's just not that many member organised ones at the moment, which is not abnormal for winter - Posted from rhpmobile

The norm these days differs hugely..... I am not used to paying for an event and definitely not comfortable being judged whether I am worthy or not for an invitation. In the past events were put up open to everyone and anyone who chose to attend. They were held at pubs, clubs and restaurants all over Perth. If you showed up great if you didnt - no stress at all. All that was required was you came with a smile on your face and made a few new friends....... I miss those days! However the rules have changed with rhp which makes it a bit harder for the organiszer. I have organized over 30+ meets over my years on here and I have enjoyed them all and made some fantastic friends. I would love to do my lunches and parties again but I really dont have the confidence anymore with the lack of communication on here between profiles. I always chose venues that could accommodate enough people without cost & that is close to public transport maybe one day I will give it a go again if enough people show support?? S Frangi

I agree. I know for a fact Im too old or too vanilla to attend some of the listings on the Events pages. Like you, I prefer Social Events, where you meet first then if you click, play later. I suppose its just a mixed bag on there so everyone has something to look for. Im having 2 social events next weekend, message me lovely xx

right behind you on that frangi. especially the being worthy or not part. if people want to be social then be social, don't setup exclusions etc. of course some places may have dress codes or whatever but regardless as long as people are friendly and respectful then anyone is welcome. this is why we tend just to go out to nice bars/cafes, not interested in all the fluffed up ladida. you have our support :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I wasn't aware? It's still very much up to people to arrange things and if nobody does nothing happens. Swingers clubs and private parties have been listed since I joined 10 yrs ago - they just stand out more when there's no pub meets or house parties around. It's been a wet and cold winter so not much motivation. I've been to some awesome meets of late. The pub meet LittleMissWeird organised was one of my favourites yet.

I think Sweet was meaning the pick and choose aspect. There was a Meet at the Crown last year and it went along the lines of.."turn up and we pick and choose who we find attractive enough to go home with us" Those kind of people, frankly, I wouldnt be friends with.

Those sorts of meets will always be around - they used to have people arrange things at Paddy's at Burswood and still be exclusive in such a public place. Things usually pick up after Perth warms up and the AFL season is over - then it just takes people with initiative to organise these things. Wasn't the Leo night recently ? Anybody could attend that? It's not uncommon to ask for money to cover expenses for a hotel swingers meet etc although I think sometimes the organisers are making more than a tidy profit out of what they are charging. - Posted from rhpmobile

One of the main changes is that you can't put the venue name and address on the event. Why this has happened I don't know but it is a pain as people cant just turn up at the last minute and I am not going to put my mobile number on there. Therefore you have to contact each person on the list with a personal email which also poses a problem when you only get 4 emails a day and you get 10 last minute rsvps

I'm sure that event is pushing laws? Isn't paying $100 an hour simply prostitution? - Posted from rhpmobile

I saw that profile, I'm surprised. It's clearly misleading in that there is not an individual member. It just doesn't seem right.

Thank you to those that contributed to this post. Some good comments among them. I just had a look at the Event page and there were 43 postings, all were from clubs, organisations or businesses except two of the posts. As Freogirl noted, it will be interesting to see what the ratio is after the footy season is over and the weather warms up. Thanks all.
