Positivity vs Negativity

January 21 2019

I see so many comments in the forum about positivity vs negativity that makes me question whether people really understand the basis behind the concepts. I've seen Bible quotes misquoted and Karma used to wish bad upon people but that is generating bad karma as I understand the theory. It being all about our own actions not our control over or expectations of others. I hoped forumites might have some explanation for how you see it because it is a never ending source of amusement for me that people bagging negative comments come across as negative to me. Where is the positivity in that? I don't want the topic to be all about my thoughts but I do love irony and this is something that has been in my mind for many years as I have changed and grown as a result of my experiences in the forums and off site with people from here. Peachy, thank you in advance

I think we all make mistakes Peachy, some mistakes may bear the brunt with negative spin off, yet we can learn by making those mistakes and positively not make the same mistake again. Intension speaks volumes, where to begin.... Mado Mado Tara xx

Is putting criminals in prison a positive or negative?

If we perceive it as punishment? There has to be some outcome. A consequence. 'Scuse while I wander to the fact that prisoners are treated better then the more vulnerable of society. Is it a positive they are kept away from the more vulnerable in society? I'd like to suppose an understanding of consequences where people get that it is their behaviour that caused the result they are now experiencing. But I'm totally over that naivete. I don't believe in the ideal that prisons are for rehabilitation anymore either. Understanding of walking in someone else's shoes (thank you Annie) is the greatest hope as well as offering what some haven't had before in the way of love? I do believe I'm living in the wrong world! Peachy, no real answers, wish I could

I saw that mention of contagion by you on another thread the other day. It struck me and is I think part of my musings for the basis of this thread as much as the immediacy of the moment of posting had me in a static moment somewhat. How positive is positive really at times though? Don't Worry, Be Happy is a song that I took on face value early on. Then it started to bother me that it was kind of demanding and not really very positive though the words were all there. Robin Williams (RIP) starred in that clip. And that is so disgustingly sad. His quotes strike the heart of how he gave so much to make other people happy. I dunno, I'm not your average bear, obviously. Peachy xo

I like to think I'm a better person for my experiences. No, that is not meant to be bitter. Peachy, hope that makes sense

Quoting 'madotara69' Peachy, may I? Quoting 'deepestpurple' Is putting criminals in prison a positive or negative? Hi Mado, I don't mean any disrespect and I am sure the things you write make sense to you but I feel like you have often have an interesting viewpoint and you seem like a really positive person I just struggle to fully understand you sometimes.

Strawberries, if you eat too many there may be negative effects, yet just a few amongst a variety of other berries can help relieve the symptoms with gout. Two negatives with a positive somewhere in between. DeepestPurple, I like your question. In one sense, there is a place in prison where criminals need protection from other criminal inmates in the main system within prison. It's the only place the criminal, in protection, is safest. Don't believe two wrongs make a right in that instance, nothing positive anyway.

In the mid seventies I worked for a man who went to prison. He embezzled nearly two million dollars from his clients. He was a lawyer. He was also a member of Melbourne's establishment.A member of the. Melbourne Club.An ex Melbourne Grammar boy,a school friend of Barry Humphries,a Director of the Australian Opera and the Australian Ballet. He only received a sentence of two years which he served at a low risk prison farm in Tasmania. He was totally humiliated and deservedly so.He had betrayed people's trust but kept on refusing to take responsibility..he had after all just "borrowed" the money. Will any of the bankers mentioned in the Royal Commision be prosecuted? No. So called white collar criminals seem to be above the law.But if you or I walked into a bank and robbed it we would definitely go to jail. Prisons are not filled with bankers, they are filled with the poor and disposed. Hugs Q

I think those who hide behind the bible or similar can be the biggest criminals. Bigots who use any kind of scripture as a defence to act like racists, paedophiles, or any other kind of cunts really get my goat. And though I believe in some form of Karma, it's definitely not the western action-reaction translation.I don't believe in 'what goes around comes around', I've seen too many bad people live great lives and good people be traumatised and left with nothing to buy that. I do think that having a positive and emphatic attitude brings acceptance, and for me a profound sense of calm and connection (and for the extroverts among us, dare I say it, fun?), and that attracts similar. x from a depression-suffering, often happy, mostly positive, Karma-informed Atheist.

I couldn't agree with you more about the hypocrites that hide behind the Bible as I'm sure you can understand about me, but it still bugs me when people choose to twist the meaning behind a saying that cuts across all creeds in various formats in including Buddhism. Twisting it backwards serves to abuse the intention removing the responsibility of the speaker which I take as the intention behind it. I would have done myself a favour referring to the Golden Rule to stick to the idea behind it rather than leaving it open to translation based on religion. Thanks for pointing that out! Anti Peachy

Negative X Positive = NegativePositive X Negative = Negative Positive X Positive = PositiveNegative X Negative= Positive The only time you really get an outcome that should not have been anticipated is when you play the game without knowing the rules of engagement.

CM.... Except with magnetic fields, the opposing poles actually attract, which could be argued that that’s a positive outcome of a normally negative outcome....
