yeah thats a hard one - just about anybody could be - i've met many people who lead ordinary lives with straightlaced jobs and you'd never pick it. The only method i have ever found is asking 'Do you swing?' Can get awkward though if you misjudge the person.

Thats a damn fine question, I never even thought the ankle chain meant anything. Looking forward to replies and info. PD

A thing i heard years ago about ankle chains was that they were a subtle sign that the lady is a prostitute.

I seriously never knew that about the ankle chain.. Funny thing is, I was considering getting an ankle chain tattooed on my right ankle about 4 months ago, when swinging was just a sparkle in my eye! lol... I'm popping out to get myself an nice anklet today :-) I hope the weekend brings everyone lots and lots of smiles.. Ellie.. xx

Maybe Red Hot Pie ought to market a badge, Just needs RHP printed on it or perhaps a picture of a red hot pie. Discreet, but those in the know would know. Just a thought.

I found it funny that I come across this subject, as I have always wondered about this subject myself. I came across a stall at my local markets that sells HUSTLER merchandise and here on display was a lovely t-shirt with "swinger" printed across it in a trendy way. Luckily for me I am very open about my swinging and thought the shirt would amuse some people and incite interest in others. Can only try lol...

I don't think i would really go by the ankle chain as they have become a bit of a fashion thing, and asking someone that wears one if they swing could earn you a slap in the face lol ,a lot of people wearing them wouldn't even know what they mean, they just like the look of them........ but pity it's not that easy.

Thought the display of a large butterfly on a persons home or butterfly stickers etc meant this. Be interested to know. Any other items that may indicate swinging etc? ps, we don't display butterflys

We don't know of any, but will never look at ankle chains the same way again, Kerrie used to where one though, but had no idea what it is supposed to mean. Will be keeping a weather eye out for butterflies to, and i think there may be a house with one on it just up the road...lol But seriously, have often wondered if there was an icon, but when i think about it even if something was produced, even if all the other similiar sites were in on it, would there be any more than 10,000 active couples?, if the take up rate was 50% and on any one night say 20% of those couples were out and about (1000 couples) across nsw the chances of ever running into another couple would seem somewhat remote. But then again who knows! Cheers Us

Don't know of any, and I'd be pretty hesitant to get an anklet tatt thinking that that was it's meaning! we've often thought this, more so if we were to arrange a meet at a pub or something, might turn ugly if you approached the wrong people! Something like a red ribbon in her hair and a pin on him makes sense, or if it's in a lunch-type scenario, a couple of red balloons would do it. There's a forum/website out there focussed on dogging, and they have magnets in the shape of a dog that put in a certain place on the car when the couple are displaying, it's a good fool-proof way of letting others know, but you can still pick the kids up from school if you happen to leave it on by mistake!

horny_flirty_us Well what a subject you have raised, I think this is fantastic. The general concensus seems to be that yes it would great if we could all find a mutual acceptable idea to identify us to people in the know. so maybe we should come up with our own. it would obviously have to be something that can be removed if need be and not mistaken for just an ornament. The biggest problem of course is those that wear it not knowing what it means. maybe it could be something that the men wear, as it is (in my book anyway) the men that should be aproached first should the couple not be together at the time, eg work. the anklette seems to be a great idea, but should the better half wear it all the time or just when she is with her partner.???? i think this is a very meaningful subject and I would like to see something concrete come out of it. once again, well done this is a great thread. PD PS "single" doesnt mean alone all of the time

OK, looks like I've started something here about the public display thing. I think that if you are going to go out to some place the chances of finding someone like minded are very remote unless you clearly display it!

Why not set down some ideas as to icons, images ect, One of my business’s is T shirt printing and I also have an online store. If we can collaborate on the artworks, I will do them at cost-and sell them through the online store. feel free to contact me if you have any ideas.

We have been thinkig about it and it is a great idea. Generaly the swing is made out of a rope - right? If we made a lockable bracelet out of rope would you wear it on our right hand. It's visable but not prominent. Let us know :-)

A tshirt is tacky BUT an iconic sticker to display on your car would be great. Even better would be a number that would link your identity to an online register set up by RHP. You would need to be a member to access the information but how simple does that sound?

We were talking about this the other day and thought that a pic of a swing (playground equipment) would be a good one to consider. Swingers would ideally pick up on it, and straight folk wouldn't have clue.... We also thought that wearing tshirts with 'Swinging Voter' on the front during any election campaign would be Very Bloody Funny.

Hi all, We were intrigued by this forum entry. We were hoping to get a straight forward answer but haven't seen it yet. So we did some research and found that there is a thing called the swing pin.Maybe we could have some something made up or place a mass order! J and I

I think if you had one or two icons- that could be explained as something else if needed. It need not be tacky if it means one thing to those who know and another to someone else. I thought some form of "pie" would do, and make it a little bit "random" like many of todays t shirts.

Hi I think a small icon is a great idea. The women could wear it as earrings or necklace and the guys could have cufflinks a ring etc etc Maybe RHP could run a design competition. Hmmmm what would I get if I win ???? :)

I honestly think the T-shirt idea is a fizzer. We need something we can wear to work, at the pub etc that wont make you look like a neon light, yet be obvious to those who know. PD

Tried this last nite but was wiped. . . Anyway what about (0- and 0+) as a very recognisable symbol for both sexes, and if the male wore the F symbol as an ear ring and the lady wears the M symbol as a necklace or earrings and it becomes known as a form of identification within the circle then there shouldn't be a prob and the rest of the un initiated world will just walk by with out another thought about what its significance is. Just another idea.

I think the anklet is a good idea but with the little RHP symbol on it, then there's no mistake. Or for that matter any jewelery with the little symbol on it.

Would have to be something that is easily identifiable to anyone in the know, but not at all obvious. How about a simple choker necklace (made with thin leather) with a solitary red bead on it? Men and women could wear it.
-

we think keeping this to rhp alone is not such a good idea as there is allot of swingers with other clubs who would also be interested ,ci,adult matchmakers brisbane swingers etc ,if someone can come up with something good you could create a movement and mass produce to keep the costs down one idea is those plastic rubber type wrist bands get some made in special colour and writting on it with swinger that can only be seen when close enough ?

I personally feel that trinkets/stickers etc just wouldn't work, they are too broad and easily missed. You may also approach the wrong person in a case of mistaken identity and could be in for a shock! If you had something that made you stand out you are going to have a much larger chance of meeting someone out, you wouldn't even need to approach anyone as any interested party would end up approaching you. You'd even get people that aren't "in the know" or even part of the RHP community. Everyone likes to experiment and if you're in the right place at the right time..... Tasteful clothing with a simple brand name like "Swingerz" could work wonders, you could embroid it onto jackets, T Shirts, pants etc. I wouldn't suggest you wear it to work though but when you plan a night out together you may end up going home with more than just yourselves ;)

What about a t-shirt with a rattle snake poised to strike. Many years ago when I was in the services a good looking woman with a fondness to sex was described as "ROOTING LIKE A RATTLE SNAKE", innocuous but to those in the know it stands out.

Hey all If you go to " Your Account" and then click on "intro card" it is easy to make your own rhp username card. You could let this be seen or use it as a business card for all swingers.

If we can a agreement on a symbol, it can be used on shirts, trinkets, tattoos what ever. I think shirts stand out better, and if its only known inside the community what it means it doesn’t matter what it looks like. I had the idea of the letters X and O on their side with eh x on top. Don’t know why but its randomish.

I've also wondered about "signs", and I find myself walking past people and asking myself "i wonder if they swing.." so it would be great if there were some sort of identifier that could be created. the problem with anklets is if you're wearing boots and it's covered then it's really not much use. i think a simple bracelet for the ladies to wear on their right arm is good enough.... or just a single icon that can be made into all manner of jewellery... this is a great topic

I think the choker you mentioned carries a lot of weight, in that it is something both partners can wear and lets face it, with the exception of maybe wedding rings, partners never wear the same piece of jewellery or adornmant, so i think your on the right track there, and yes an RHP tag of any kind will not identify us to those are not privy to this conversation. horny_flirty_us, once again a great thread, lets keep working on it. I would also like to hear anything from RHP staff, eg : ideas, other knowledge of the subject (worldwide and Australia), do some homework for us please guys. PD

If you google 'Swinging symbols' and click the first link, you'll see the chameleon. Spread the word, make it instantly recognisable throughout the swinging community! I think it's quite cute too!

Anything really needs to be designed, marketed and promoted by RHP as a central source. Whether it be a necklace or t-shirt (the t-shirt is perhaps a little obvious? -word would surely get around pretty quickly to non-swingers! and let's face it, who wants to advertise to THOSE weirdos!!) RHP needs to organise it if it were going to be successful. C'mon guys, this is an opportunity here!

As there is no real consensus, a verity of items bearing the chameleon are needed. Why not tweak it a little to make it more Australian? If someone wants to help with the artwork, I can get it running with in a week. We can put the image on anything from shirts to watches to g-strings. It would be all at cost, so it’s for the community.

Maybe when joining up with a site like RHP a little pendant like a "S" to wear as necklace or ear ring could be given with a full membership. To the average Joe Bloggs in the street they would just think the persons name starts with an S or whatever and not give a 2nd thought to it, but to they in the know, well. . . It would have to be unique in design so it will stand out to those in the "know" but then thats just another thought

i think you need to be clear on how this symbol is going to be used, if it is to be an identifier for people attending functions in a public place and needing to recognise each other then almost anything can be used, that isnt likely to be already there of course... some however seem to be looking for something which will identify themselves as swingers to the world 24/7, ready for that fleeting sighting they want to capitalise on... unless you are seriously going to wear the same piece of jewellery or clothing every day doesnt it kinda contradict the goal of being recognised during those serendipitous moments?? Here's a thought be upfront about who you are.. in my experience very few are offended in this day and age..and many many more will either be interested themselves, or intrigued(lost track of how many people have given things a go themselves after such a chat) or start talking about others they know who are into swinging(or whatever) , quite often people i havent realised but would be interested in inviting to our parties, so there you have my two cents worth,..be yourself...try working the art of conversation and no you dont have to know someone for years before you can converse with them ;-) Good luck! Paul

yes thats it, a wonderful friend and I used to put out the signal by... you guessed it... fucking in public! Its so simple and direct. The folks not into it leave, the others gather around and we'd select whoever we fancied to join us - there's rarely a shortage of takers if you can be brazen enough to pull this one off. Beach is good, parks... ok I realise we are talking dogging but thats how we got to swing with strangers. Hey this reminds me I have a friend to call...

If my memory serves me correctly it used to be a sign that "wife swapping" as it was known many years ago was advertised with the big decerative butterflys you see on the outside of houses near the front door.

I think shagwells idea of a thin leather strap with a single Red bead on it is a good idea, maybe 1 white bead and 2 red beads to signify the 'group' side of swinging. It's discreet, can be worn in different places (neck, wrist. ankle, bicep...) and would be readily identifiable., kind of like a kabahla bracelet. id buy one.

We like the Idea with the chameleon. The thing just is how do we get it to Bali :P ,, things get stuck up in the Post or in the Hands of some curious Indonesian. Would maybe make Things easier for us here, instead getting slapped in the Face by Couples we are approaching and are actually NOT into the Game.
