September 16 2016

Hey guys just a page about any good autobiographies you've read? After having a wander through the airport bookshop there was nothing that jumped out at me... - Posted from rhpmobile

Hooked by Samantha X is about an Australian woman that ventured into prostitution not out of desperation but out of curiousity. Very interesting to hear her tales and the struggles she faced with her taboo 'career' choice. Holding the Man by Timothy Congrave is about his struggles growing up as a homosexual man in the 1970s and details his relationship with his life partner. Incredibly moving and beautiful story. Down The Rabbit Hole by Holly Madison - a Playboy bunny and Hugh's ex-main squeeze. She talks about what it was like living in the Playboy Mansion and the reality behind the 'reality' TV series The Girls Next Door.

Bukowski wrote "women", "ham on rye" and "post office" Burroughs wrote "junkie"....... Amazing books that were controversial, emotionally exhausting, inspirational and full of colour even when they were dark. These two gentlemen stand head and shoulders above mediocrity by pushing everything to its limit and gaining a brutally honest view of humanity and of all of its ugliness.

I had so much admiration for this woman. She put her faith in a man, loved him completely, faced challenges that go beyond what most of us would ever have to deal with, but her strength of character saw her fight through it. I don't doubt she made wrong decisions, I don't doubt she wasn't always the best Mother, who is? But she was dropped onto a little place on the Australian map and effectively left to fen for herself. Whatever followed with her kids, the problems that came after that, takes nothing away from the stoic woman she is. Most women would have buggered off early in the peace, she didn't. She deserved her Australian of the year award. Her books are well known, From Strength to strength, The strength in us all, The Strength in in our dreams, and 3 more I think. Her daughters also wrote books which is great because it gives the other perspective, but she was an inspiration to me

I have become a follower of certain books, I use to love reading horror or suspense books but now have a thing for autobiographys. Proably because a lady friend of mine wrote one and found it fatisicing as darn I thought WOW how her life had not only changed but how much I didn't know what was happening when I was there . We caught up 2 years ago to reminisce - Posted from rhpmobile

Our holiday reading was about the 2 extremes of love and sex: The Course of Love by Allain De Boutton, which is a mature narrative about the evolution of love in a long term relationship. And Maestra by L.S. Hilton, about a single girl who enjoys group sex, high art and murdering bad men. Balance is important :) - Posted from rhpmobile

of course, on what genre gets you thinking. Ford, by Robert Lacey is a thick volume about the man. Apart from what we generally believe we know about him, there was soooo much going on behind the scenes, in so many ways. By the end you don't know whether you would have really liked him, or would have killed him. Intriguing character. Tall

Johnny Cash's autobiography Cash is pretty damn amazing. I've never been a particularly big fan of country music, but Johnny Cash's life story is so damned impressive that when I got done with it, I nearly wrote him a fan letter - something I had never done for anyone before. He's gone now, but his autobiography is a testament to his legacy.
