There's nothing worse than an overdone scent, even if it is a nice one. This goes for men and women, hell there are some foul smelling men's products on the market...yes I'm fussy!

Actually no I don't get those sorts of comments. However, years ago I used to wear vanilla oil from the Body Shop and I did get lots of comments about that. Most memorable being that someone was reminded of muffins baking.

Almost everyone smells of flowers and it can get a bit samey. The only time i've ever had a girl walk past me and turn my head and make me lose my train of thought it was vanilla... I was mid sentence and for the life of me couldn't remember what i was saying...Take from that what you will, I'm sure other guys are different... If its gonna be floral frangipani is nice...

During the day I use Flora by Gucci and if I'm going out at night Roberto Cavalli which was a present from someone very special. Sometimes I go with Guilty by Gucci but it's not my first choice.

This is what I wear and always get comments on it. I don't do perfume as most I find give me a migraine particularly really flowery smelly ones. - Posted from rhpmobile

One of my friends is the same with the perfume "Paris". Its the only one that gives her a really bad headache. I love vanilla, too, but then, I am pretty vanilla myself

As much as I love the head turning smell of a man, I also love my perfumes and the beautiful scent on a woman.......My personal favourites are Jean Paul Gaultier for her, Ed Hardy - love & luck, SJP - NYC, Calvin Klein - IN2U, Katy Perry - Meow........💋

I only remember being complimented on my perfume once, and that was by a young woman, when I was wearing Halloween (by Jesus Del Pozo). I don't have one particular favourite, I don't like wearing the same thing all the time and like to switch it up and try different scents. Also need to work with the weather, in summer here it's very humid and you work up a sweat just walking a few steps, so need to keep it light. In the cooler months I can try out heavier, more complex scents. Out of the ones I currently own my faves would be: Black XS for Her (Paco Rabanne) Black XS L'Exces for Her (Paco Rabanne) Ultraviolet (Paco Rabanne) Acqua di Gio (Giorgio Armani) Emporio Armani Night Sun Moon Stars (Karl Lagerfeld) Bouquet (Vera Wang) Neroli Jasmin (Body Shop)

Tom Ford Noir de Noir for me..or Black Orchid or Agent Procateaur signature parfum.Dependent on my mood or season. I love it when a women walks past and the scent is familiar or I like it. I like to pay it forward and compliment them. Dior perfumes do it for me on another women.

tends to get up my nose so I don't wear a lot of it. I have a lot because people keep buying it for me and I don't like it and I rarely wear it. I don't think when I have worn it that anyone has ever commented on it, although I do tell others if they smell nice if I like what they have on. I do prefer the sweet scents and something light. I have a jasmine oil also which is nice but I find that is a little strong also. One lady back when my kids were in kinder would wear this terrible smelling perfume and she was such a nice lady and one of those people who love getting up in your personal space and hers would make me feel sick. I always tried to move away, take a few paces back to get away from it but it was just not good with my sense of smell. I also remember when I went to Thailand and I had a citronella patch on my ankle to repel mosquitoes and that made me so sick, it was like it was purposely wafting up to my nose.

Id say nearly all women like to smell good, strangely most dont react well to being 'smelt' ... strangers at least, should I be introducing myself before leaning in for a sniff? Flowers dont seem to mind - Posted from rhpmobile

I use the timeless classic, channel No5 spray and Purfum oil when I go out. Another one I wear is "Paris" by Yves Saint Laurent...I feel feminine wearing it - one spray is all I need. When it comes to smelling feminine for someone, I try to layer..not too much but a subtle hint here and there. I love to smell sexy and feminine. I have smelt some women's perfumes and I have to say, I'm pretty sure I have smelt cat pee! But I think for most men they want to smell the natural smells of a woman. I think some female perfumes just turn them off - I don't think many men want to smell over the top fragrances that brings tears to their eyes where they can't breathe. I feel that way sometimes with some men fragrances. There has been times where I just want to say "go have a shower and scrub get that dam smell off you - give me YOU, the natural YOU"..nothing smells more sexy than a man after a shower wearing nothing but the scent of a clean fresh towel.:) Foxy

Perfume to be very up your nose, heavy duty or migraine material and yes, there are those cheap ones that have the cat pee undertone...I personally love the scented powders..... Nothing more yummy than being freshly toweled from a shower, getting the big puffer out and just gently powdering my body, always feel so silky and sexy after

I'm also not a big fan of perfumes and only wear them on rare and special occasions, such as weddings. I also avoid people wearing really strong scents. I prefer the subtleness of a clean, fresh shower gel, body lotion or body powder, even just drawer liners in your lingerie drawer can give just that hint of sweetness. Vanilla, milk and honey, anything fruity, and rose, are my favourite scents. - Posted from rhpmobile

......... it's another thing to be reminded of your mum. Smelling Channel No. 5 is not sexy to me. lol. The very first girl that i had sex with was wearing Musk. I walked into my office a few days ago and I could smell that same smell. My face lit up and it brought back ALOT of great memories. I asked my receptionist who was just in here, she just laughed and said "a new customer, she was about 80 years old". lol.

smell of a woman, or just a hint of something suttle. When using after shave I spray it onto my shoulders and neck ' but never on my face' gives me a guaranteed headache.. And please ladies, go easy on perfumes.. Truly reminds me of a french whorehouse.. Not that Ive been.... So... its little not lots that does the trick..

Thanks, everyone, and I agree, less is more, a spritz rather than a drenching. Now I thought the guys would like something spicy and erotic, but it seems something with vanilla undertones is more favoured. Im going to try some of the ones you ladies have mentioned, time for a change......

Thank you, I will look that up tonight. And Black XS sounds like my kind of fragrance. Korres do an amazing body lotion, vanilla and cinnamon, I wish they did a matching scented oil, it smells delicious.

I'm with LuckDragon - Black XS smells divine. I have recently bought Bon Bon by Viktor & Rolf - though it is has only been the lovely ladies that comment on it. A couple of ladies even asking to come closer for a little sniff. Mary xx

I have a penchant for the essential oil Amber or the perfume White Diamonds. I get many comments plus subtle and not so subtle sniffs when i wear the Amber it has lovey musky undertones that i have been told accentuate the natural smell of a woman

Lancôme "La Vie Est Belle" - Life is beautiful. Absolutely love this fragrance. Average four bottles a year - I wear it all the time. Always receive compliments on how beautiful I smell from both men and women. One work colleague said he knows when I'm at work even if he hasn't seen me. I've had people stop me and ask what scent I'm wearing. - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Kokoflamingo' Korres do an amazing body lotion, vanilla and cinnamon, I wish they did a matching scented oil, it smells delicious. I love body lotions / butters as well, have heaps of them. I'll often use just a lotion, no perfume, particularly if I know I'm going to be very up close and personal with someone and think a perfume might be too overpowering. If you want to smell like chocolate, Palmer's cocoa butter lotion is cheap and awesome.

I've been checking out the Body Shop website and want to go in store to try their Madagascan Vanilla Flower scent. They call it "an oriental gourmet delight with notes of amber, frangipani and vanilla" which sounds promising. And I need to find something to replace the neroli jasmin which they sadly discontinued.

A friend of mine sent me something and she wrapped it in one of her old t-shirts. So far as I could tell, it was a clean shirt but there was still something there that reminded me of her. Although the scent is long gone now, I still like that shirt... btw There's at least one good book on this topic - The Perfect Scent.

Someone said the Lush have a vanilla fragrance? I went in there today as well and tried the Madagascan Vanilla...it's lovely but unfortunately didn't last very long at all on me (and that was with the girl layering me with the shower gel, body spray and edt). I did end up buying their straight vanilla edt, which definitely leans more towards the gourmand type of smell that most people associate with vanilla. Lush do have a vanilla fragrance as well, called Vanillary Perfume according to their website. I bought a bottle of the Body Shop shea shower cream today as well, and think I'll go back for the body butter next week. I'd forgotten how much I like the shea, it's a lovely clean, comforting scent, great for winter.

Quoting 'Meander' Have you tried The Bodyshop's Indian Night Jasmine? I really like it. No I haven't yet, but considering the Madagascan Vanilla doesn't seem to work for me I'll be going back to try the Night Jasmine. I read a few reviews of it on fragrantica.com and quite a few said it's similar to the neroli jasmin, what do you think?

I change it up but and old fave is body shop vanilla. Like so many of you. Today I'm wearing white peony and rose buds. That's really uplifting. I'm a fan of essential oils and the most amazing blend I've smelt recently was peony, geranium and white fur. This was stunning. I must of witnessed 20 others nuzzle her that day too. I must get them. I hate citrus, it's overpowering and heady. I'm a huge fan of Juliette Has A Gun, especially the black. The base is really unusual and the depth of the scent is everything I'm always looking for and never find in a purfume. Ok, I have a thing I wonder if anyone else does my skin eats scent. It goes so quickly. I've also been told I have no distinct scent. Has anyone else ever had this feedback? I spray scent only clothes these days. But love to nuzzle in to others. - Posted from rhpmobile

I have a sandalwood body splash (don't know why it's called a splash because it's very obviously sprayed! Haha!) from Mt Romance that I love! I tend to put some on my wrists and then a spray into the air over my head that just drifts down. I have no idea if any one other than Mr Him likes it but I wear it because I LOVE it. I find it interesting that different fragrances fit better on some people. My favourite scent smells totally different on my sister...? Vanilla is also a delightful scent (kind of ironic that so many people in here like vanilla! ;) Silly things make me giggle sometimes!) x Me
