Self deprecating humour,in other words

October 13 2013

having a laugh at ones self...I think that sometimes here we take ourselves wayyyy to seriously....and sometimes seriously I am kidding....but humour is a funny thing and sometimes other people's humour escapes me...so my question to you sexy peeps is what makes you laugh at you?

Unfortunately some here do take things seriously, especially if the topic is emotive to them - I know I have been guilty of it.   Another problem is some just don't get someone else's humour, even if it is littered with 'lol' and 'tic' throughout.   Of course you always get one or two who take offence at everything and anything just to provoke a reaction, and those that post, find out that the rest disagree with them or take them to task on what they wrote, then try to fob off their post as a joke - kind of pathetically at time too lol   Mooka

Mostly my stupidity when it requires less than banging my head against a wall. Oh, me in the mirror. The mirror makes me laugh (you did ask for self depreciating humour, didn't you?)

I am really a klutz and do some of the dumbest things with out thinking. I'm the person who will pull when clearly it says push.

My life.My godfather once told me, when I was very young, "Stop being so serious. If you can't laugh at yourself you'll spend the rest of your life crying."The last few years have proved that very much true... so now I look for the funny side in everything. Also, self deprecating humour is a wonderful tool for ensuring one doesn't get a big head and keeps perspective in our role, small as it is, in the world around us.

I don't think you should laugh at anyone unless you're prepared to have a laugh at you own expense. I crack my self up at the dumb situations Ive got myself into . And continue to do . But still .... They are life experiences....not regrets- Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'inspirit' who use the term "Peeps".... I think of peeping Toms. I met a guy a while ago who referred to his cock as his "peep". He was a big muscular guy and it just seemed so incongruous for his big cock to be a peep. I laughed at that afterwards, but that's not what this thread is about!

Is a song I wrote about being a bigger woman and trying to get laid, its definitely a laugh at myself and its also social commentary done, I think, amusingly. I laugh at myself when I get worked up about something and I realise I'm ranting to myself. I laugh at my toes on my right foot. I kicked the end of the bed one night in the dark and now they bend in the most peculiar way. I laugh at my shyness (after the fact) when I'm meeting someone new and I'm tied up in knots but they prove to be really easy to chat to. I laugh at some of the fanciful thoughts I have and things I have written and said. I can keep myself easily amused just by reflecting on the gaffes I've made.

I have no common sense. It's frustrating for others but amuses me :)
