Selfies...

In general, and perhaps on here and/or on other dating sites also. Good or bad? Prior to having a smart phone I'd had few half decent pictures of myself I liked, and they were getting old. I got caught out once having pictures that weren't up to date, because I was attached to my favourites. Lately I have more pictures, but a lot are selfies (but I don't go overboard, I think...). But now I've seen many comments especially on people's profiles that they don't like selfies, one even said they are "unmanly". Unmanly? I do a reasonable amount of travel and sightseeing, normally with my dog in tow. He can't take pictures for me, and it's rarely convenient to hail down bystanders to do so. So what is inherently wrong with selfies?

    You can invest on a selfie stick or use your phone on timer shot camera well with my iPhone yeah, I don't know about yours though. I have taken nude selfies only for RHP though but now I think to myself well at least when I get old that's how my body looked like when I was younger so I have all this collection 😂 not bad. - Posted from rhpmobile

    I guess just pop into work or down the pub and ask your mates if anyone can take a few suggestive pics of you without much on. That should take care of that. Meanwhile my selfie stick will do just fine even if it does make me appear unmanly.........

    See what's wrong with taking selfies. If you're on your own, who else will take the pic, if not you? Selfies on profiles mean you can at least see something of the person. Though there is such a thing as going overboard. I have a friend who's crazy to do anything with. You can't take a drink or eat a meal until she's documented it with selfies at every imaginable angle, then changed it and put filters on it, etc. And then she has to post it to FaceBook with about 5-10 #'s.     From what I've read.... negative comments about selfies have mostly related to the oh so common "flexing bathroom mirror" selfie. A bit of creativity never hurts in *advertising* - Posted from rhpmobile

    WTF! Unmanly? Whats wrong with people. Nothing wrong with selfies. All my pics are selfies. Don't worry what other people say keep taking your pics. I have no one to take pics of me. I cant ask my kids to do it can I lol. Have fun - Posted from rhpmobile

    Nothing wrong with selfies if you happen to be alone...or you need it for particular purpose. There will be a time when we will long for anonymity... but that's for another story. There is something fake in all that idea that at any moment we should pause and distance ourselves from that moment just to be able to "capture" it. Like it can be captured. Only when you are not present in the moment you start thinking of how you should remember it...for the future. You make pauses too many at some point that you forget living. It's like when you start talking about what happiness is, and the moment words are uttered you stop being so. For me camera is not a mirror.The essence of that moment can't be captured and sent to some future me, but it can mean something to me and to someone else if it has some aesthetic value in it. These days when I go somewhere I try to make drawings, and I see more of myself and the world around me in them. Misfortune of any kind brings you closer to people and life itself. Photos can be lost forever, but your life will always stay rich for the people you shared your moments with. (Ms)

    It's not exactly easy to entrust someone else with the taking of one's revealing photos for use on this site! Selfies are the answer! OP, your dog can't take photos for you? That's sad. I won't even bother asking my cat because all cats are self-absorbed and think they are gods. The entire feline species is allergic to any form of work! LOL!!! Almost all the photos in my Public and Private Galleries are selfies. Most folks have short attention spans when it comes to helping you take photos or if you are in lingerie and you request a bf / FWB to take your photo, they might be too distracted with the desire to strip that lingerie off you to do a proper job. What else is a damsel in distress to do but to snap her own selfies? I love taking selfies esp after losing a lot of weight. It keeps me motivated to continue keeping that weight off and to endeavour to lose more weight. After working so hard to finally be able to fit into lovely lingerie when previously I resemble dumplings about to burst when I tried squeezing into them, I want to celebrate by taking selfies as mementos. Smile! You're on candid selfie cam!

    Selfies love them or hate them they are part of us now. I am not the selfie type myself but when i looked at the album to use on the RHP profile did not have any decent once. After a few trial and error learning how to use different angels to take better selfie. Only thing i appreciate about selfies they accentuate our flaws. I dont't mind a selfie as long its taken in light and not too dark.Soldier on my friend otherwise with a selfie stick can take so much better photos. - Posted from rhpmobile

    Great topic Op. 📸 Awsome views from all and agree. WTF ! with you being unmanly? Regardless if it's a selfie on a stick or in whatever situation taking a photo to me is capturing a moment in time.You don't have to go overboard either. Definitely agree there is an art form with taking a great selfie, Using different angles helps. Keeping it original by using your imagination combined with shit loads of cheekyness is essential. (And a clean background as Summer mentioned 😉) I was lucky last wend that a close friend of mine helped out with a few tasteful pic's over a Moccona or two, keeping your pic's current certainly is imperative to enhancing your chances within pie. Certainly if your a single male.lol Mixing up a few tasteful selfies with maybe a few taken from a friend is a nice mixture. But as we all appreciate if your written profile is shyat then most will move on.

    If I'm in the right head space! Can do dozens til happy with best shot! Other times I'm deleting most as unable to get shot to satisfaction. Lighting, mood, and location can effect quality - Posted from rhpmobile

    For a decent selfie please step up...I can take dozens before I get one I think is passable!!! Some people are just amazing at them and never take a crappy one!!
