My friend's backyard, it a bit of an overgrown tangle, bamboo going nuts up the back, fenced off vege garden that has been severely neglected (oops, that would be my fault), however I spent one gloriously sunny and clear spring afternoon lying on the grass in his backyard just looking up. All things I wouldn't normally notice or the life that my clomping around would normally stay away from, appeared.Little blue and white butterflies fluttering around, finches buzzing between the bamboo, the wind rustling through the leaves of the tree above me and the way the leaves would flutter down, bees doing their work pollinating everything. Lizards in the tress, magpies and sparrows hopping around, later a visit from a kookaburra who just laughed at the wonder of it all (OK, so it was probably just looking for some dinner).I was in a backyard in suburban Sydney and all of this life was going on around me, not requiring any intervention, it just happened. That's the recent most beautiful thing I've seen.My favourite, most beautiful piece of music is "Mogwai Fear Satan", by Mogwai... it brings tears to my eyes every time.I hope this post doesn't get lost, I like it.

and what a lovely visual and memory for you Ok for the record - I am not in the least bit talented I cant draw, paint, color in, play a instrument, sew, fix stuff... etc (you getting thepicture here ) ok I can dance and choregraph....but its sexy, not beautiful All I can create is chaos and disorder and I envy any person that can create/write/paint ...anything (ok Im not a bad cook) even worse is that I came from that kind of talented family - ggrrrr.. I deeply appreciate beauty but I cannot create it........... I am in total awe of Beethoven - one of my heroes- I listen to him as I walk along the beach..oh and Red Hot Chilli Peppers...Pearl Jam.. but I digress. ""Ode to Joy""...each time I hear it, it brings tears to my eyes......and to think Beethoven wrote it completely from memory as by the time he did compose it, he was profoundly deaf.........how does that work ?? Im like Schroeder - I do have a small bust of Beethoven....in my keeping... ""Nessun Dorma"" from Turadot - sung by Pavarotti - again get the chills down my spine happening.... "Ö mio babbino Caro - Puccini - I know its cliche but it was the soundtrack playing in my head as I wandered around Venice all those years ago Im a strong auditory... so music touches my soul like nothing else (yep even words fail at what music can conveys in me) - which is probably why Im very good at choreography...I can"" feel it"" , before I can "see it"" .......and I am a lover and devotee of classical ballet- studied it for years but alas too short to make anything of it..:( I have teared up watching the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet (over and over again) ........true beauty.... Id give anything for a job in the arts......................sigh............ Thanks for such a lovely topic...Freya

Albinoni's Adagio but on the clarinet. That piece is heart wrenching but beautiful. That was many moons ago when I was playing :) maybe time to get it recorked and padded. I bought the 2001 soundtrack on iTunes just for that Adagio.

For me it has to be The MONA LISA...She's on my bucket list when I visit Europe...I'm not sure what it is...she has always intrigued me and when ever hear about her my eyes and soul light up..Is it the smile?? her look? or about the Painter himself?? The beauty??She sure is mysterious.....I know when I visit her I will sit in silence with my soul at peace.

was nothing short of a visual orgasm for me. As a lover of Art History, I nearly fainted several times in Florence.... I had a moment at the top of Giottos bell tower .. Alone ... At 5pm. The bells of all the churches in the city began to ring. The suns rays streamed through the clouds and I was just waiting for the angels to start singing. It was so sublime I nearly converted that day ....

Ahhh, such a sweet topic, thanks OP :) I've had a very blessed life, and perhaps my greatest blessing has been extensive travel. I've had moments of pure awe and wonder that brought tears to my eyes. Moments of spontaneous laughter that made me feel like a child again. Moments of satisfaction and at times fear, that reminded me how very alive I was. Moments of human connection and compassion - for me and by me - that changed my soul forever. Moments of mystical energetic forces directing me towards safety or even new, bigger adventures. The most beautiful experiences of my life have always been in the freedom and humanity travel offers.

I used to love sketching/drawing - anything from cars to birds, right through to horses, scenery etc. had quite an eye for it when I was younger but for some reason I stopped but I'm looking to get started again along with making an effort to pick up my guitar again after a year or so of not playing. for some reason though I have never followed artists in general, I wouldn't know one from another - apart from a couple of lovely pieces that we had displayed at my work which doubles up as a gallery. We had 2 huge paintings by Paul Lucas of the abrohlos islands, such attention to detail you could almost smell the salt in the air, every day I would spend a few minutes dreaming I was there instead of working...music wise I have to say one of my idols would have to be Andy McKee - such a massively talented guitarist.. If you like classical or steel string acoustic guitar check out drifting on YouTube. Amazing

I know that after this every one will have the right to call me vanilla boy but i don't give a ...... (you know what) !!!!Ok it was a very worm summer night 9 years ago. I took my girlfriend after a big huge enormous fight that we got and tried to make up with her. We went to the beach which was far way from everything and everyone.... I want it to give the feeling "Baby it's you, me and the world" night. Lucky me it was full moon also. So we sat on the beach and start some soft talking. After an hour we felt a big light coming from the sea....It was the moon which was about to disappear for the night... But it seemed to dive into the sea at the end of the horizon. It was the most beautifull scene that I have ever seen from the world and then I saw her eyes. And when I did that I learnt all about my life. The man i am now I saw it that night in her eyes. We stayed there till the morning... That was the most beautifull experience until now... the only question that i have since then is "why God create the mosquitoes ? why ?"When I first read the book of Emily Greyson "The Gazebo" it brought mist to my eyes almost page by page. Every time that I here the song "High hopes" from Pink Floyd i have an ocean of beatifull feelings.... The sound of this song it wakes all of my senses and boost them to the maximum... I feel like I am in heaven. As I like to gaze the stars i always loved the Starry night of van Gogh.....I don't know much about painters and their creations but this one locked my mind for ever. sometimes i feel like I am living inside that painting.@polar_bear_grrrl There is a group called "Secret Garden" which are amazing... I have seen them 3 times and I consider myself blessed. And I will end up with this....."And I think to myself....What a wonderful world"

A month or so back Sydney beaches were closed due to red algal blooms. I checked the beach updates to see which beaches were closed and so tried Clovelly in the evening. However, I got there a little bit too early and there wasn't much movement in the water, so no bioluminesence was visible.Back in the car and on up to Bilgola to hit the motherload of a mother nature lightshow. It was a full moon, but it was covered in dark storm clouds, and a thunderstorm was going on behind the beach, and every wave that came in was glowing and sparlking like someone had just cracked open a giant light stick and emptied it out over the waves. My friend and I stood there for an age, jumping up and down in delight, oohing and ahhing. Another friend who lives local came and joined the light show audience, so it was three of us, completely enchanted with the shows those little micororganisms were putting on for us. That is the most recent, most beautiful natural thing I have seen.

Quoting 'sydneyvaka' I've been transfixed by the classic acoustic, haunting and painful lyrics of this beautiful song... It was also the first song I learnt on my guitar - and can sing and play at the same time.... Mmmmmmm beautiful song indeed... A Yes. This is an amazing piece of music too. As is Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. Both evoke similar feelings in me.

Long time ago i made wrought iron candelabram. It was back in the 90s when they were quite popular.Stands nearly 5 ' tall, holds 9 candles and is matt black with a large base. I was and still am very proud of it and do consider it a thing of beauty in an arty type of way.It was housed away in a shed mezzanine floor for many years while we built our house but it know sits proudly in our adults only lounge area. It won't mean anything to others but am very proud of it. Think i might even take a nice pic of Mrs Luvsilver with it and post it on our public page in the next week. Mr Luvsilver.

I can't explain why, but instant tears for me, every time I hear bagpipes. And being part of a group changing "Om" ... it's considered to be the original sound and it goes straight to the centre of your soul.

I agree that that there is a lot of music that stirs the soul. That brings a tear to the eye. Music you have to stop and just listen.I find nature really stirs the soul as well. Like Sweet_Dreams I too have travelled extensively and seen some amazing things. There have been times where I have been stopped in my tracks and just looked in awe. Places I never would have thought I would be. I find the ocean and the sun and the feeling I have when I am lying back totally relaxed over looking an amazing view as the sun hits my face and I feel a moment of .... I can't really describe it really. Is it joy, happiness? I just know I feel at peace and I can't help the smile spreading across my face. I love the water, it is a travesty that I get so sea sick. The Tiger Temple was a stand out moment for me as well. Playing with and touching baby tigers was beautiful. One ran up to me and bit my leg because he want to have a playful wrestle. He was so gentle, a baby that was as tall as my knee. They are utterly stunning creatures and I have tonnes of photos.

The image of Migaloo the extremely rare albino humpback whale breaking the water surface at dawn right next to our moored yacht and then the sounds of Migaloo's whale songs through the hull as he explored our quiet little bay....very special.

As I suffer from Agrophobia I had to add more as I braved it to the beach tonight.... Waves crashing at your feet The sun setting just behind fishermen on rocks The sound of the waves as you close your eyes to do nothing but listen The millions of blinking stars up in the sky Swans flying past as they head to the other end of the beach to join their families that I drove past earlier The feel of the cool sand under my feet and between my toes The gentle breeze hitting my face like a million kisses from heaven xFunlovingx
