Quoting 'kinkisthenewpink' I go to a clinic now, purely because they really know their stuff and test properly. GP doesn't always get it right. Just be aware of a few things...everyone talks about it but not that many actually do it There are lots of things you can get just from skin contact and blowjobs...condoms don't help unless you BJ with them on....no one does that. When you go for a test they don't automatically test for everything. You have to ask them to test for things like Herpes. There are many many people with STI's who don't show any symptoms at all. Most people won't tell you they have anything. Although it's a hell of a lot of fun parties and clubs up your chances HUGELY. Going from pussy to pussy with hands and mouths is just hand feeding someone an STI KinK I actually know a few women who do this with randoms (myself included) there is only one man who I dont use a condom with these days. And am about to start using dental dams with women I have just met also. I get tested every 10 weeks, I go to a clinic and am getting to be on first name basis with the staff and I dont play with many epople these days. I can count the number of partners I have had this year on one hand - easily. I have had the unfortunate circumstance to be called up by a play mate who had got bad news. I then of course called people I had played with between when I had last played with her and the date she called me. Got myself tested and didnt play with another person until I got the results back (phew I came back clear). It was a hard lesson to learn but one I have now taken to heart. I just hope noone else has to learn the hard way (wishful thinking I know) Kisses Focus

It's so important that we all understand that there's simply no way to guarantee you won't get an STI. Herpes is very prevalent and so many people don't have any symptoms. False positive and false negative blood tests are common. Other STIs, people might have symptoms but not know what they are to begin with, and not investigate - HIV for e.g. Transmission of many STIs can occur from contact other than genital - herpes can transmit from blister to any skin contact point e.g. thigh to hand. I know someone who got a nasty STI in the eye after giving oral. And so on. Take care peeps, great care!

Blood test for herpes is meaningless and a total waste of time as there are many related virus that will throw a positive, and just because you have antibodies doesn't mean you have the virus. The only reliable test is testing the blisters.

I go to a clinic. It's free (in Brisbane) and they know their stuff. My first test was just at a bulk-billing GP and pathology and I was less comfortable with that. At least at a sexual health clinic it's all they deal with day in, day out, and nothing's going to shock them. I certainly didn't go to my family GP who has known me since I was 3! The clinicians will be able to recommend how often you should visit based on your activities. Get ready to do a long consult the first time as they take history and get a picture of what you're up to. Subsequent visits should be much quicker, just a blood test and a little jar of pee usually, unless you have something that warrants a closer examination. The clinic I visited also had the results available in one week and could give them to me over the phone, once I proved my identity. Perfect for a busy bee. It's good to have peace of mind and to be able to offer playmates the same.

Im going to the wrong place Slippery. My tests involve more than just blood and urine...and still take some time...bastards must be enjoying themselves...or I have been too much and they're just looking out for me Though I do recall my first visit at this clinis and I did manage to raise the eyebrows of the clinician taking my history mwahahahahaha

A hearty Well Done, to TokenUtopian for even bringing this subject up, and to all above for undergoing the testing regularly. Testing, means playing with confidence, means all concerned can be free to enjoy whatever you are doing.Another STI not mentioned that tends to go undetected by those who have it, is chlamydia. It tends to have little or no obvious symptoms, but is among the most common. Ladies especially, google it. Forewarned is forearmed.

there are around 24 items with can be caught / transmitted and classified under the STI tagGP clinics and SHC all have the same training .. just one specializes in it more ... just depends on who you feel more comfortable with .. You only have to ask for a COMPLETE.. STI check .. I get tested every 8-12 weeks .. and results from my GP are available within 48 hrs max ..

I was just assuming others didn't spend so much time biting pillows. I was trying to be dignified on the forums for once! Haha.
