Sexy white guys

August 12 2015

Raymond DartNicolas WadeDale Peterson What do these guys have in common? Well other than the fact that they are white, middle aged men fuelled by elitism, unacknowledged neo-colonial politics and sloppy thinking - these guys are the fully sick dudes that have successfully projected onto us their views on the origins & evolution of human behaviour. Raymond Dart - is the guy that in 1925 discovered the first fossil of a human ancestor in Africa. He described early humans as "carnivorous creatures, that seized living quarries by violence, battered them to death... slaking their ravenous thirst with the hot blood of victims and greedily devouring livid writhing flesh". So much intensity. Nicolas Wade is a sexy demon by night, new york times journalist by day. Do a google image search, but be sure to fortify the flood gates beforehand. "Warfare between pre-state societies was incessant, merciless and conducted with the general purpose, often achieved, of annihilating the opponent." His co-author, Dale Peterson agrees - saying we are but "the dazed survivors of a continuous, 5-million year habit of lethal aggression." Ok so to sum this up: We are inherently cunts. Not much we can do about it. And here is why - 1) Data drawn from primal ancestors - mainly from chimpanzees - with whom we shared a common ancestor about five million years ago ("5-million year habit of lethal aggression" great historian work Dale!)2) Anthropological history3) Archaelogical findings suggesting persistent warfare Alright - so I am writing this highly sarcastic to prove to you (very) quickly, that we aren't inherently evil. More importantly I am trying to point out that sometimes, just because we have universally accepted reasoning - doesn't mean we are right. Always challenge what you hear. 1) Primate evidenceFirstly - Using the chimpanzee to explain the origins of human war is the equivalent of saying "the devil made me do it". Now more importantly, our closest primate cousin isn't the chimpanzee. It's the Bonobo Ape, by a far stretch (as far as DNA and behavioural correlation goes). Bonobos do not rape or pillage + No war + No murder = No support for the primate origins of human war. Journalists and scientists often shun the Bonobo like the crazy cousin that sits in the back of your subconcious until someone says "Hey, remember Jake" and your like "Oh yeh, that dickhead". The Bonobo unapologetically practices polygamy and bisexuality. They live in communities very much similar to pre-colonial hunter gatherer societies. 2) & 3) Anthropological and Archaeological Evidence "The worldwide archaeological evidence shows that war was simply absent over the vast majority of human existence... but with a gradual worldwide population increase, the shift from universal nomadic foraging to settled communities, the development of agriculture, a transition from egalitarianism to hierarchical societies - and, very significantly the rise of state-level civilization five thousand to six thousand years ago - the archaeological record is clear and unambiguous: war developed, despots arose, violence proliferated, slavery flourished, and the social position of women deteriorated." Written by Doug Fry in War, Peace and Human Nature (2013), he argues civilization is the source of humans inclination towards war and violence as opposed to our DNA and biological evolution. To conclude, I will leave you with a quote from one very sexy dude, made during his acceptance speech for his Nobel prize for personified irony. War, in one form or another, appeared with the first man. At the dawn of history, its morality was not questioned; it was simply a fact, like drought or disease – the manner in which tribes and then civilizations sought power and settled their differences. I don't know that you would call skirmishes between tribes during the Ice Age as war exactly and possum we know that most history has been written by old white men and only some of it is based on facts that can be verified...I think the earliest recorded battle was around 7000 BC ...We do share more DNA with Bonobos..there is a woman in Germany if I recall rightly who is living with one and working on language with him...I am currently reading Herodotus,an easy read,he is the equivalent of todays gossip mags,he is known as the Father of History or the Father of lies...the films the 300 were based on his account of the Spartans victory over the Athenians ..in fact some of the dialogue is pure Herodotus..I love ancient history and I thank you for this post TD 😚xxFreya

I was distracted by the factions warring over Statham... Now what was your argument? If I have summarised properly (would you like to see my notes, they're a little like etchings only sexier) you argue that Dart, Wade and Peterson (and others) are incorrect as they are basing their evidence on the wrong primate and a couple of scrapes through some archaeological digs which show up some swords, a bit of burning and a couple of skeletons impaled on stakes/sticks/things that make a messy hole in you. Hello!!! Have they dug up the whole world and subjected the findings to the experts on Time Team??? If not, I don't accept their evidence!!! (extra exclamation and question marks just to annoy some folk hehehehe...oh and that 'hehehehe' also annoys the bejesus out of some folk). And what else would you like to add? Oh that's right - I get it now. Don't always accept what others say.Question, reason, deduce meaning for yourself.

Bonobo never stumbled onto a nice juicy char grilled steak. Cooked meat has a protein or a doovey lacky in that our brains developed intelligence. First thing to learn is too kill more efficiently. So how come Obama and yer sexy white guys failed to mention that. Carrot crunchers. Mado Mado Tara xx

You wouldn't happen to be studying Anthropology, by chance? From where I'm sitting at my table, I can see the back of a large hardcover on my bookshelf and the 2 quotes on it: "War is the continuation of politics by other means" and "Whoever wishes for peace, let him prepare for war". Appropriate. I think War is a state of humankind...when was the last time there wasn't one somewhere?

when the population of your 'country' is an extended family, how would you expect a pre-agricultural fossil record to show huge wars? 2 people of the tribe are killed in conflict with another tribe "holy fuck, that's half our hunters... run" - except now, that "half our soldiers" level is in the hundreds of thousands - Jimmy Loincloth didn't have a tribe of 20million people. You wouldn't have trench warfare style killing fields with the ground more corpse than mud. Armed conflict between those noble savages is a part of historical record, it just couldn't be waged at the same scale. Potato potato IMO . . It sounds like you're saying we're peaceful folk, and war sprung up in some relatively more recent social invention. If we can redefine war in smaller terms more appropriate for conflict between smaller tribal groups, each their own country... we had lots of'wars'. If we were live and let live hippies then there would either be plenty of Neanderthals left, or LOTS more Neanderthal genes in our genome - except there aren't, despite some interbreeding, as a bunch, modern humans exterminated them. . . War isn't 'evil'

Love Freyas comment that most history is written by old white men. One of the reasons I take history with a grain of salt. If everyone in the world were interested in documenting historical records and/or had the capabilities history would be nothing like we see it today. Arguments for what is what and when such occurred would be very different and extremely varied as everyone sees thiongs from their point of view. Prime examples being the history of wars (generally written by the winners or from the perspective of each warring party). And my biggest historical teaching and readings that make me cringe, the history of Australia written by English white fellas (mmmm no bias there lol). Anyways interesting post OP and for those interested it should prove to be a good debatable thread

Bonobo's have a fascinating social culture. They use sex to resolve their issues and disagreements. When things get tense between the group, suddenly an orgy breaks out. They fuck instead of fight, and they have no regard for age or gender, everyone fucks everyone. This is how they maintain their bond as a group and the reason they are the most peaceful of all the great ape species. Makes you think doesn't it?

I mean, have you ever heard of a war between 2 vegan states? Maybe, just maybe, if we as humans believed we were inherently good as opposed to inherently evil and needing to crawl out way back into God's good books, we would subconsciously act in a way that reinforces this belief. Cue Kamahl quote here "Why are people so unkind???"

This bit here is the most interesting part: "Written by Doug Fry in War, Peace and Human Nature (2013), he argues civilization is the source of humans inclination towards war and violence as opposed to our DNA and biological evolution." Civilization itself is responsible for war. Admittedly, the value placed on human life has overall increased through the passing ages. You know, they stopped using the iron maiden a while back now, and you are less likely to get hung from shackles should you get thrown in the slammer, but there are still some undercurrents of the war like nature of humans and advancing 'civilization'. Take technology for example. The mobile phone. Everyone has one these days, but it's first use was in the military. The Internet. Same thing. Splitting the atom. Yep. The atomic bomb. The forefront of scientific discovery and technological advancement seems to find its first application in military use. I don't want to get too cynical about such things, but the correlation is there nonetheless.
